This weekend, I decided to do some experiments with the fibers that come out of me. I wanted to see if certain things affect them and what I discovered was very interesting.... This is a photo of the fiber before application of 100% GSE. It looks like the typical black thread twined together and hard to distinguish under a microscope. Before GSE.jpg Here are some photos after application of one drop of the GSE. Notice that it stripped away the black coating and exposed the red, blue and clear fibers underneath but it didn't destroy the fibers themselves. After GSE2.jpg After GSE3.jpg GSE.jpg More to come...

Here is a fiber before the application of H2O2. Before H2O2.jpg Here are some photos after one drop of H2O2. Notice how it didn't strip away the black coating but it did cause bubbles to form all over the fibers. After H2O2.jpg After H2O2 (3).jpg more to come...

Here is a photo of a fiber before applying saline solution. Before Salt.jpg Here are photos after application of the saline. It appears that the salt also causes bubbles but it looks to be destroying the fibers. After salt water.jpg PICT0056.jpg PICT0046.jpg more to come...

Finally, I tried Vicks. Before... PICT0036.jpg After PICT0047.jpg PICT0050.jpg The menthol seemed to expose the fibers and break it up. In my unprofessional experiment, it seems that the GSE and menthol break up the outer black layer exposing the fibers while the salt, H202 and the menthol seem to somewhat destroy them. I am NOT a professional and I am not suggesting anything. I was just curious to see what would happen and wanted to share it with you all. Has anyone else done an experiment like this? If so, I would love to see your results. Woops, the thumbnail below is from the saline. Last edited by MeaganM; October 6th, 2011 at 01:22 PM.

Here are some other interesting random pics that I took... PICT0500.jpg PICT0508.jpg PICT0509.jpg This is what my hair looks like under the microscope. These are what I call the "flyaways" coming off the hair and the reason why my scalp itches so much. PICT0535.jpg PICT0534.jpg

| These pictures you posted Megan resemble what I saw on clothing in stores. I had to do some shopping. I never was a girl who liked shopping butn ow I really dislike it. Anyway, these things you have posted are attached or hanging and clinging on many clothes in stores. Not just on cotton. They are on poly, rayon, linen, etc. I got me a 100% polyester blouse that I really liked and wouldn't you know it, the stitching has the fibers sticking out all over it where ever there is stitching, esp. after I washed it. Now I can't take it back. I still think that cotton stitching is a huge aspect of M and getting it from clothing. However, I did buy me 2 pairs of jeans. I have not worn jeans for 3 years. I like the brand Style and Co. Another problem is it is near impossible to find women's jeans without spandex in them. I have a belief that spandex and/or lyrica is involved too. It makes sense if you think of M as being plant based as some researchers have said. Aren't most clothing made form plants? I am going to wear those jeans. Do others here steer away from cotton yet and jeans too?

Has anyone researched or tried activated charcoal on these things? I know it sounds too simple to be useful.... but it's what I'm working with now. I tried searching this entire site for charcoal and the results were too confusing and long to pick thru. Thanks, VL
