| Good Morning everone, I am going to my 1st Dr's visit after discoverying that i had Morgellons and I need some advise on what to tell them and what to make sure to not say to them. As symptoms increase daily mine include Stinging and biting most in the evening time. White, red, blue stringy like fibers coming out of my skin. Objects flying into my eyes and blurring my vision. Hive like bumps with puss under my breast, torso, around my mouth, chin and neck. Severe fatigue to the point I am out of breath by just washing my hair. The feeling like there is lint in my mouth, under my tongue and in my throat. Glitter on my skin Black granules on my skin dehydration Proffuse sweating Gastrointestinal symptoms lack of appetite Distinct sweet odor where the hives are. 1 lesion located on my knee that is extremely itchy and painful. And the newest ones that showed up between yesterday and today of Joint pain difficulty with writing/typing Severe pain in head and ears Teeth deteriorating Should I tell the Dr all those symptoms or minimize it to a select few. |

| Hi there Tootsee, My only suggestion would be to avoid key words like stinging, biting, flying glitter, and fibers, at least until you get a feel for the doctor. Anything which makes it sound like you are implying that what you have is Morgellons or parasites would be something I would omit saying, at first or if ever (some doctors will run screaming DOP at the very hint of the word parasites or Morgellons and leave the room, sometimes even laughing maniacally--at least according to some reports we have heard here from some members). I am sorry you have had to join the club here, but it is a place to obtain some support and understanding for M symptoms. Good luck with your appointment. I hope you let us know how it goes for you afterwards. best, tcm

| The doctor will give you steroids, antibiotics, crazy people pills or anti parasitic stuff. He/she will charge you, set up another appointment or suggest a mental doctor. The most common result will be no healing, if you have a bacterial infection, that may be affected, if you also have parasites they may be affected, skin issues may change for a very short time, then you most likely will return to your original splender. If the girls here think that some of the drugs they have taken work for them, you may ask for that kind of drug, Long term drug use comes at a price, |

| Tootsie, tell the doctor that you haven't been feeling well and describe some of your symptoms with suggestions from TCM in mind... things like fatigue, rash, joint/muscle pain, fevers, etc... This describes many diseases and you may be able to rule these out. Most importantly, try to get blood work done to rule out other possible causes such as Lyme, Lupus, etc... Some blood work to get are Lyme WB, CBC, ANA, Sed rate, blood sugar, kidney function, and muscle enzymes. If you can, try to get a toxin/heavy metals blood test. It's tricky dealing with M and doctors. Stick with your basic symptoms and try to let the doctor figure it out on his/her own. If not then mention Lupus, Lyme, etc... Avoid steroids... I read that they are bad for people with M. My doctors have been trying to give them to me but I have refused so far. They lower the immune system. Also, mention your throat and swallowing issues and see if you can get a referral to a Gastro doctor... but don't mention fibers in the throat... just say it feels like there is a lump in your throat and it's difficult to swallow. Good Luck. |

| Hi again, Tootsee, I just wanted to say that IMO Meagan has added some great suggestions for approaching doctors with M symtoms. Some people here do not like doctors and think that no help ever comes from that direction, but for some M symptoms there is some help even from the Western medicine side of the room which may offer a bit of relief. As Meagan mentions testing is always wise as there's no sense undergoing any treatment unless you know what you have. Tests do provide some of us with needed information, especially some of the tests Meagan mentioned. Meagan, I thought about adding this TCM information here because I know some members here do have throat issues. I realize that some members here do not like reading about TCM, but this is short and I think of interest, especially if doctors do not offer any good suggestions to treat M throat issues beyond a shoulder shrug. There were a few women who came into the TCM clinic where I observed with these conditions. All of them improved over time with acupuncture and herbs. Of course I do not think they had Morgellons, but perhaps this type of treatment could help these kinds of M symptoms. Reading this through just now reminded me that no matter the type of medicine pursued, Western medicine or herbal medicine, male doctors are ready to ascribe what happens to women as being controlled by emotion when they do not really understand the root cause of a condition. As if men too do not have similar issues with emotions! Funny indeed: Plum Pit Qi and Qi Stagnation By: Diane Joswick, L.Ac., MSOM The feeling of an obstruction in the throat (when there's not an actual physical obstruction) is called Plum Pit Qi and is associated with Qi Stagnation (Liver Qi in particular). Emotions such as sadness or frustration can produce a lump in the throat or Plum Pit Qi. Plum Pit Qi is first mentioned in Chinese literature in the Jingui Laoyue, a treatise composed at the end of the Han Dynasty (ca. 220 A.D.). The text addresses miscellaneous disorders, mostly those suffered by women. It includes this brief statement: A woman who feels as if a piece of broiled meat is stuck in her throat should take Banxia Houpu Tang (Pinellia and Magnolia Combination). The Chinese later described the sensation as that of a plum pit caught in the throat. The plum commonly used in China and Japan, known by the local names wume and umeboshi respectively, has a small pit that can become lodged in the throat; it has rough edges that contribute to the sensation being described. The syndrome is called Plum Pit Qi (meihe qi), indicating that bound-up Qi feels like a plum pit. Its cause was attributed to the emotions coupled with stagnation of phlegm. From:acufinder

| I agree with Meagan. I also just developed the dysphagia (difficulty swallowing). My Lyme titer showed up negative but I understand that many times it will. Does anyone know if Lyme docs believe M exists. My doc certainly does even after reading the Mayo clinic article. She said it was hardly empirical and seemed badly done. Quote:
