| Hypnosis in the treatment of Morgellons disease: a... [Int J Clin Exp Hypn. 2011] - PubMed result Int J Clin Exp Hypn. 2011 Apr;59(2):242-9 Hypnosis in the treatment of Morgellons disease: a case study. Gartner AM, Dolan SL, Stanford MS, Elkins GR. SourceDepartment of Psychology and Neuroscience, Baylor University, One Bear Place, Waco, TX 76798, USA. Ashley_Gartner@baylor.edu Abstract Morgellons Disease is a condition involving painful skin lesions, fibrous growths protruding from the skin, and subcutaneous stinging and burning sensations, along with symptoms of anxiety, depression, fatigue, and memory and attention deficits. The etiological and physiological bases of these symptoms are unclear, making the diagnosis controversial and challenging to treat. There are currently no established treatments for Morgellons Disease. The following case example depicts treatment of a woman with Morgellons Disease using hypnotherapy. Data from this case example suggest that hypnotherapy is a promising intervention for the physical and psychological symptoms associated with Morgellons Disease. PMID:21390982[PubMed - in process] I didn't get to the case study, I'm not even sure you can. But one thing for sure, it is taken as psychilogical only. Take note this is dated 2011.

| As I reread this, I may have taken it wrong. The tx with hypnosis may be for the psychological symptoms only, but I guess it doesn't neccessarily say that Morgellons is DOP. It may be the article syas there are no treatments for the physical symptoms.

| Posey, I'm going to email her. Waco's not far from here. If someone at Baylor is taking morgellon's seriously at all, that's a good thing. The article was dated April 2011, which meant the study was done prior to the Mayo's results being made public. So whatever she or others might be working on may have been trashed by now. But I'm going to email her anyway and see what I can find out. |

| Ok, did. We'll see what happens. I asked her if there's any other Morgellon's work going on at Baylor and whether, in her opinion, the Mayo report (and probably the CDC when it comes out) will be the end of legitimate research on Morgellon's outside of research directed to DOP. Needles to say, I didn't mention actually HAVING Morgellons... ![]() |

| She got back to me right away, said she had worked with only one Morgellon's patient, the one in her hypnosis paper, and was far from being expert. She said that she hoped there would be further research on Morgellon's but that it would be hard to say whether the Mayo and CDC reports would put the caboche on further studies. Oh well, it was worth a try. |

| Her reply wasn't vague; probably just my translation of it. She sounded quite sincere about hoping morg research would continue and from the context, she meant research of the disease itself, not how to treat DOP. |

| Good follow-up job sojii. At least they know we are watching and may really try to help us. I told my daughter that if one more person tells me I am just having panic attacks, I am going to pray that the person gets this crap.(Multiple chemical Sensitivity). I get so fed up with ignorant people telling us what we have and what to do about it. If they only knew!!! |

| Thanks sojii, at least that erases some suspicion from me, which feels good. I don't like to be suspicious, I like to believe in and trust people. However, this would be living in a perfect world. I have been burnt as I'm sure we all have. I am even sure at some point in my life I have been a burner. Not now, but in my younger days. After all, not too many people can have 2 dates at the ssame time in one night and get away with it. I did this.. Can't remember all of how it went but I know I didn't have anone pick me up, I met them. How awful, hey. I was young; my ony excuse.
