| Holy cow, here is a fungus you can die from but if you have it nobody can get it from you, now let me think. If a person has a fugal infection and that person coughs on you and fugus flys out of their lungs it DIES instantly, so hmmm, then if it was in the tornado it must have also died in the air. Hmmmmmmm, let me see, if you have a fungus so powerful inside your body that it can kill you growing like mad, but dont worry you can not catch it, now think about that. I must imagine this article was written by Doctor Zeus. Do not worry yourself to death you two dead women you got this because of plastic toys from China that the Chinese burried before sending them to America for good luck in business, right along with their kimchee. Who believes the lies they tell, put up your hands. Two Joplin tornado victims die after suffering fungal infections | Springfield News-Leader | News-Leader.com |

| Baraka, Read the article again. It's a fungus that lives in soil. People with healthy immune systems can fight off the proliferation of it in their systems. Immunocompromised individuals may not be able to. I don't believe a fungus is a pathogen, is it? |

| As long as it doesn't take any longer than two weeks. It does seem to require an open cut to develop this infection along with lowered resistance due to age or disease: June 16, 2011 CDC to study fungal cases in wake of Joplin tornado By Wally Kennedy news@joplinglobe.com JOPLIN, Mo. — Investigators with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will take a further look at the cluster of fungal infections that developed among nine severely injured victims of the May 22 tornado. Kristen Nordlund, a spokeswoman for the federal agency, said investigators arrived in Missouri on Tuesday in response to a request for help in the investigation by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. In an email late Thursday, she said: “The CDC has deployed four employees, including two epidemiologists, to Joplin, to assist with an investigation on fungal disease. The team will be in Joplin for two weeks. “The team will be gathering more information on suspected cases, as well as conducting a case-control study. In this instance, people who have contracted the fungus will be compared to those who have not contracted the fungus to determine if there are any risk factors associated with contracting the fungus.” Jacqueline Lapine, spokeswoman for the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, on Thursday said, “As part of that coordinated effort going forward, the CDC will be the primary point of contact on questions regarding further testing and confirmation.” The investigators had not spoken, as of Thursday afternoon, to either Dr. Uwe Schmidt, an infectious disease specialist with Freeman Health System, or Dan Pekarek, director of the Joplin Health Department. Freeman has seen at least five cases of the fast-growing fungal infection. It is believed to have contributed to the deaths of three people there and one at St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield. The rare infection, zygomycosis, can have a fatality rate of 50 percent. The spores can infect people with traumatic injuries, but the fungal infections are rare in healthy people, and clusters of them are even more uncommon. Deep skin fungal infection does not spread from human to human. No cases have been attributed to air, food or water. To date, no cases of the fungus have been reported among workers in the damage zone.

| I had a friend that did nothing in dirt, he was a motorcycle mechanic, he did not dig in earth, he was not sick and he had no flowers. He came within a inch of dying and it was a pathogen from DIRT. He is not the same now, I was pretty sure looking at him he also had our issue, was fugus just bull. I know you all have no imagination or belief that anyone would do anything to harm the great people of the USA. It is being done and has been documented, what stops them from going into a area of disaster and spraying a new test fungus on a few injured people, would that be possible? Nope too science fiction, I guess if our situation wasn't science fiction we would be taken seriously, after all we dig our skin, yup, we dig it and when we are tired of digging our skin we have our cats dig it. Maybe we would be taken a little more seriously if we took some our best lesion covered people to where the tornados were and flip them under a collasped house and shove dirt under their skin. We would be at the CDC right now. Does it not seem weird that the CDC is involved in a infection from some little dirt getting under the skin and killing a couple of old people, HMMMMMMM, we can not get them to see the fibrous material but they are there with all their people, on the spot. They need to see just how this fugus worked, with the cover of, oh my god we have to make sure all Americans do not get fungus. CDC on the job, OK I believe its normal, it was just the wind blowing around sombodys backyard, so whats the big deal if its NORMAL in dirt. Last edited by Baraka Obam; June 18th, 2011 at 09:28 PM. |
