Default What exactly does a Morgellons fiber look like?

I've been looking up Morgellon's fibers on the internet trying to find pictures and all I've been able to find so far are microscopic pictures. I have seen these coming from myself under a microscope and what they look like. I have white spiderweb looking fibers coming out of me and so does my son but I see them everywhere in my house and I want to know the difference between Morgellons fibers, my dogs white hair, and fabric fibers or spider webs without looking under a microscope. How can I tell the difference?

Also, do all Morgellons sufferers have the fibers visible under the skin if looked at by a magnifying glass? I have a magnifying glass but don't see anything under the skin. What exactly am I looking for? Links to pictures would be great.

Thanks
Meagan

Yes, the fibers are underneath the skin as well as intertwined on the surface. Also, I don't know if you experienced this yet or not, but some white ones will wiggle about, back and forth and around. There is also a glitter like substance that you may see on your body as well.
The thing that freaked me out the most, is some thing I was able to see just recently, it may have been going on all the time I just never saw it.
I had put a glob of Vaseline on my wrist, and holding a jewelers loop up to it, saw sharp clear spikes shoot out at crazy amount of speed and then retract back into my skin just as fast... Like what ever was in there... needed to breath . That was the last draw for me.

Thanks Janice, so, does dog hair not wiggle back and forth and this is how I can tell the difference with fibers on my furniture? I have tons of white fibers all over my couches and furniture that wiggle with air flow but they look just like my dogs hair too. It's really grossing me out!

Some times it is just dog hair on your couch, and some times it is just dust or lint. This is the crazy part of this problem. Be care full not to go too crazy with the magnifying glass or microscope. Your best friend will be your vacume cleaner.

Forgot to add...the wiggling comes while it is attached to your skin, I guess it is squeezing out of you.

Boy, have I got the glitter! But I've had it for years wherever I perspire, especially the face and palms of hands in the summer. I always thought it had something to do with salt in the skin and didn't pay any attention to it.
I thought it was normal.

Meagan, I agree with Janice about not going crazy with the magnifying glass or microscope. It becomes obsessive, at least it did for me, even addictive. I didn't replace the bulb when it burned out. I know the stuff is there but I also know I'm better off not looking at it unless there's some major change. It can be crazy-making if you don't have the right mind-set for it.

I have stopped looking at the microscope awhile ago because yes, it can become obsessive. I was just curious how a person can tell the difference. I read people say that they see the fibers everywhere... at doctor's offices, Walmart, etc... and I was wondering how they know for sure that it's fibers. What distinguishes them from other things?

Default shiny

fibers I have seen (coming out of my skin and others) are distinctively reflective, shiny, either glassy or shiny like a hard plastic. not like a yarn or thread, but like a surface that is extremely smooth. yarns from clothing assuming it's not a synthetic look more like a piece of knitting yarn since they dont reflect light.

It is easy for me to obsess with the magnifiers too.

I also threw away the jewelers scope, super tweezers & mag mirrors several years ago.

I even had silicone fibers shooting out of the ends of my hair, ugh (my hair used to bite me)

Something that helped me get rid of the fibers was enzyme sprays. Canada used to sell a good one called "eco-vie" & it worked great but stained my walls. I don't think we can get it anywhere here anymore (but I still have 1/2 bottle in my fridge...).

Then I found another organic enzyme called bug-arrest which is good to spray pets, environment, "you", clothes, cars.... It REALLY helped get rid of those creepy spider webs in my house (the ones that are a fat single strand over two feet long that hone over where you usually sit, that squiggle & bite?). It breaks down the exoskeleton. Call you local pet stores to see if they carry it. otherwise look it up example: Bug Arrest

Good luck MeaganM.

I also had bright red & cobalt colored blue fibers come out of my skin.

In the white light,
~jonsi

glitter, oh i hate the glitter!! from what ive seen ( in my house and on me) if they were on the couch, they ( morgys) would be as big/thick as a dog hair, so if its moving on your couch, my guess would be no.
a few things you can do , get some zinc oxide ( diaper rash cream) and spread it over the area you think they are, a thin layer, but no bubbles.. wait a few minutes, if youve got a really bright bulb that gets hot, put the heat of it near ( dont touch your skin with the bulb though) and wait.. look for tiny bubbles in the cream. about the size of a pin..these are air holes they need to breath. the zinc oxide covers their air, so they burrow to top of skin to breath.. its really weird.. especially the first time you really see one. and you dont need a microscope, you should be able to see it with your eyes.
someone mentioned spider web like things? yeah, or an octopuss under the skin. it reaches out and spreads like crazy, thats why you cant pull one out, because theres a whole bunch branching out.
now, if you get where you can see this, whats crazy is when you poke one with the end of tweezers, for example, a tiny spot will pop up about an inch from where you touch it, thats when you REALLY feel like youve lost your mind!! even when i tell morgy sufferers this, some think im crazy, but once i got past the initial 'what the f___?!?!'' its almost amusing.. ALMOST..
because of all my gardening lately, i got 2 big ones in my face, lower jaw.but i think ive got them gone, my skins healing up and the lumps gone.i always hit them with different stuff, zinc oxide to pick them out, then hydrocortizone cream one day, neosporin the next day,i also found this really good stuff, at CVS, it looks like a generic of something, but its called 'anti itch allergic cream'...ingredients are diphenhydramine HCI 2% ( im reading the back of the tube)and zinc acetate 0.1%
this works real good to heal up cuts, rashy looking skin. and its cheap!
i havent taken any antibiotics or any other medicines for a while now, you build up a tolerence to them and they also get rid of things your body needs, so anti biotics just for super bad infections...
i was symptom free for several months, until i started overhauling the backyard, but i kinda know how to get rid of them, and once the yards done, i wont have to worry about getting sick for a while...
hope all that long windedness on my parts helps
