Default Question about moving

Hey guys. You all have helped me hold on the last several months - thank you so much. Most of you know the story but it started with birdmites and then morgellons and Lyme's. Oh, and a big infestation of Springtails (most likely due to water damage in our home). We are moving in 10 days. We are bringing very little with us. I am sure whatever we have (fungus/baterica/spores/fibers) may follow us but hopefully life will be more manageable in a smaller space. I wanted to ask about ideas for cleaning/storing things. I will cedarcide everything and even the boxes once they are packed (wiping down with vinegar/water and orange guard as I am packing) and will treat and bag the few clothing items that we are taking. What are some other precautions I should keep in mind for the best possible outcome? Any cleaning ideas? We have children so I want to make this transition as smooth as possible. Nothing has been smooth in our life since this started - but I know you all are living this horror so I suppose I don't even need to write that.

Moving out of a mold infested hell hole and into a spacious clean house changed my life for the better .
Limit what you take with you and clean it all before you go .
Good luck with everything Zen .xxxxxxxxxxx

Try using storage bins for everything if you can afford it and put some menthol crystals or mothballs inside the bins. You could put these in boxes as well and tape really well. I use these sometimes and it seems to help. As you are unpacking, air everything out and wash as much as possible. If you are bringing furniture or mattresses, you can wrap them in plastic and do the same thing. Some suggest warming the crystals under the plastic using a coffee warmer or potpourri burner. The fumes when burned are toxic so make sure it's sealed and then aired after wards. Good luck and I pray that this helps you and your family get well.

I really appreciate the advice! I am going to use every idea. I hadn't even thought about packing with the crystals. At one point I was making my own little crystal bundles with Bounce sheets and twist ties and putting them on shelves and in drawers. I can make more and stick them in our plastic bins - easy, cheap and gives me hope!

Carla - I am so happy to hear that getting away from the mold helped you. My fingers are crossed that we will have the same experience.

I wonder if anyone in the arctic has M's.....I'd live there if it meant being free of this illness!

Good for you! When I moved, I improved by 50%. I took some drastic measures though; I'm not sure you'd want to do this or could, but I ditched my wood furniture (broke my heart; I had a ton of antiques). I think wood does become infected and maybe someone has suggestions for that but I didn't want to take the chance. I packed everything in rubbermaid tubs, sealed with packing tape. I cleaned the outside of every one of them before I moved and again before I unpacked. Things inside them I put in clean trash bags and ziplocks until I could clean each item.

I've continued to store clothing in either dry cleaner bags tied at the bottom or large ziplocks after I wash them. Everything not used regularly like winter bedding, etc., I still store in plastic tubs. No cardboard boxes! An exterminator told me that many insects and spiders eat the glue used in making cardboard boxes so they'll hang around.

Good luck with your move. I hope it's as beneficial for you as mine has been for me.

Ditch the old vacume cleaner. They,re cheap enough anyway. What is in the hoses and motor parts could mean reinfestation when it blows again in the new place, ever tried to clean one of those things?.
When I went to jail for 60 days that was the last lesions I had and that was 7 or 8 months ago. New building, med ward, very clean, No more sneezing half a day eyes watering or nose running. Clean enviorment is paramont. If I could get out I would take nothing not even my mothers picture sitting on the brochure, I,d just buy a new camera take her picture outside and take a picture of that picture extract the digital data burn the camera and be gone. Would not even take what I was wearing, Change into new clothes at BurgerKing bathroom stick my other ones up the hand blower and burn em up. Work it up from there in wardrobe. I mean it to! In a heartbeat! I,d even through out my 35 year old wallet (my dad bought for me at state fair) take the greens to the bank and exchange them with fresh and that means coins included. I would not even take my cherished coffee cup I,ve use for 38 years that was given by my highschool sweetheart when I was 14. Think I,m kidding?
