Default Help!!

My son is getting married next month so this is something I have to go to.

My hair is about 1 inch to 1.5 inches long. The ceremony and wedding reception are both outside so this is good; I can wear a hat and sunglasses. However, I don't know what kind of a hat to wear.

Any ideas, links or thoughts would be deeply appreciated. I am going to go to Macey's for a short time today yo try and find some "safe" clothes to wear and see if they might haver any "safe" hats. I was thinking of a big floppy sun hat but I just don't know. I plan on wearing pants or slacks, no jeans. I just need a pretty outfit to wear and am getting shook up now about finding one. I would really liker something in a pastel green or yellow, maybe even pink. I would like to find a matching top and bottom; something in a casual suit.

Default Short hair is cute

You know if the hair is enough and it is short its cute.

If it does not look so good have it done at the beauty palor, they can work wonders with it.

Get it colored.

a nice wig.

or get that hat, but still get the hair cut.

I have a friend that just went thru chemo, she actually looks very mod with the short hair, she had it cut as it was uneven not it looks great, I think she looks better with short hair.

This modified baseball cap with a detachable bow is adorable IMHO. There's a wide selection of colors too. It could easily be dressed up with some artificial flowers to make it springlike or even a gorgeous large brooch attached to accent whatever dress is worn. It's a youthful looking style which I think would look good on women of any age. There's a lot of other suggestions for using turbans and scarves on this site too:

Yes Baraka, there are some girls who can wear their hair shorter than a man's hair and look adorable. But, you have to have the facial features for this and I don't.

Another thing I am wondering about is make-up. I haven't worn any for 3 years and am wondering if other female sufferers wear make up and what seems to work best. Gosh it's less than a month away, you'd think I'd have gotten on this already. But I always have disliked shopping and even more so now.

Maybe I;ll have some luck at Macy's. I'm leaving shortly.

But, any females out there and even if there are males who use make up for lesions, I'd appreciate knowing what you use.

My usual way to handle lesions has been to cover them up with bandages that breathe and then wear longer clothing--fortunately I have not had many on my face or neck and when I did I was using some herbal treatments which were covered with micropore tape using the flesh color. Still visible...so I did not do a lot outside the house during those times. Makeup in a lesion just makes it worse IMHO and usually I found it would weep underneath creating a bigger mess, further inflaming the lesion and causing pain.

Anyway I mostly wore long sleeves and pants (still do). Tights which are opaque also work on legs. They even have some these days which the younger girls wear with dresses as they are cut off at the ankle and then are worn attractively with dress flats. Then there's always dresses which go to the floor.

Example for the tights:

How about something like this? It's really cute and would go well with nice slacks. The makeup I would suggest is all natural base, powder and blush. You can buy it pretty cheap at Walmart.

Here's a link for wedding hats. There are some really cute ones that can give you an idea when you go to Macys.

Posey, they also make really cute hats with a lace veil in front of the hat for the Mother of the bride/groom which is appropriate. I will see if I can find
This is fashionable and can help hide any lesions. If you have no luck at Macys, try going to a bridal shop at the mall.

be proud no matter if you have hair or not, your sons getting married and he invited you! hold your head up high, get you some good cover up/conceler make up ( unfortunaly you may have to spring for the more expensive stuff, but goto CVS or walgreens, way cheaper than macys) if the hair really bothers you, get a wig. movie starts wear them all the time because they have to look good on camera and our hair doesnt always want to do what we want it to.hahaa. right now, because a lot of my hair broke when my morgys was really bad, now its grown back but it sticks out to the sides and i look like moe!! so i wear bandanas...
well placed see through band aids and make up should do you ok, dont trip on your morgys, its his day and you got him there. hold your head high and be proud no matter what you look like.
and if they people look at you, tell them you had chemo so they feel like crap for staring... haha, thats a joke..

Oh yeah, Jane, just follow the link. There's lots of colors for this hat and black is one of them. It also mentions in the description that there is a bow pocket when you remove the attached bow so that you can easily insert another scarf to make a new bow of your own choosing. I'd say one's imagination is the limit as far as decorating it up or down to suit the occasion.

I so agree with you, life is way too short to worry about Morgies when your son is getting married. Never apologize for how you look is my motto since becoming ill. The chemo idea is not a bad comeback for those rude enough to ask why one has bandages. Those who are nosey deserve to be ignored, but your explanation will serve to fend off further questions. Kind of like the I have lyme explanation when trying to explain what our illness is.

Posey, I hope you have a wonderful time when the wedding day arrives and that your new "daughter" is a fabulous addition to your family. If you keep admiring how handsome and beautiful the happy couple look on their special day that will direct attention away from you to them.
