Default PE, DVT and Cigarettes-I need your help

By now most know I have been diagnosed with DVT and PE- Deep Vein Thombosis and Pulmonary Embolism.

I am going to ask my fellow members and friends to post caring supportive replies to this thread to help me to completely throw them away. You don't have to ba all nice. You can hammer on me a little.

I have cut back with a pack lasting 3 days but that is not good enough. I need them completely out of my life. They are no good for immune system either.

Yes, I am stupid in the fact that I can be diagnosed with these serious and life threatening issues and walk out of the clinic and light up a cigarette. I am being completely honest here in hopes that I will get good supportive feedback.

I don't get that from my husband. He just puts me down. It's his way, he can't help it. But because he could quit cold turkey does not mean I can. I try to tell him I am not made like him.

So, please let me have it in a not too harsh way. When I get really down about M is when it is really hard no to smoke when I have been a smoker most of my life.

You are my friends in need and I truly believe I can depend upon you!!

Default Cigaretts the nicotein nipple

Wow, I used to be real hard on smokers as I wanted to see them live, especially young women.

Does your husband say you smell bad, you have bad breath, its a filthy habit, its stupid, you look like a big baby with your pacifier in your mouth.

Yes, we have no banana's ............ maybe this means he cares for your life.

I do not know but i would think its something like that.

Familiarity breeds contempt, maybe he just does not know how to say he cares that you do not die correctly. Then again maybe he is just a NORMAL man that thinks if he says unpleasent things people will notice and do somthing about it, or will they just be ignorant and ignore his caveman like pleas to stop.

God has also put us in charge of our health at this point, and when you say, just one more will not hurt me, think again about how sick you are.

Smoking is a sign that you need to be pacified and the cigarette company has convinced you of that, can a man thats trying to unconvinced you say ugly thing to try and help, would Oh, darling that pungent unpleasant smell in the air, could you please help me define it, help, I do not imagine that.

So his mannerism is not to your likeing, mens thinking gets a little harsh when people do not listen, after all, he was trained by another cave man, not by SIGMUND FREUD. I am sure most men wish they had a kind and gental father that was not saying all the time your a little girl, crying all the time, what are you stupid, and such kinda things.

Time to take a closer look at Mr Poseys reasons for being manly like his daddy taught him to be, just maybe he is afraid of living the rest of his life alone, he has become accustomed to your face, as they said in my fair lady.

Think about this, you will not do tricks for that man you said you would always love and obey, but you will do tricks for a corporation that will murder you, and lets not mince words here, they knew and now we have know for years that this is a murderer.

There really is no pleasant way to bother anyone about cigarettes they are a filthy nasty, thoughtless and uncaring stinky murderer, that is all they are.

I am putting this lightly.

The devil sits on one shoulder, come on Posey smoke another, it will not matter, just one more, the cigarette that killed you was the last one and when that happens you have stolen from the family a person they loved.

they are left to cry.

It was very hard to see my mother gasping for air, her eyes pleading for help, like someone had their hands around her throat and was choking her to death, my mom had a pretty horrible existance for a very long time, every day was a struggle. She was a very strong little woman that would fight anything and she did that very well, all except the damed smoking.

Just remember it is hard to listen to someone that NAGS you about cigarettes, imagine how hard it is to watch as you destroy yourself for utterly no reason at all, except your wanting to be addicted to cigarettes, thinking about it in this way, who is being ignorant of other peoples feelings.

A very positive note I forgot about, I knew a man that tried everything to quit and finally he went to the doctor that gave him a shot of some kind and he said that was the end, cold turkey. The shot may not be good for you, so you want to make sure if it could afflict you in a negative manner.

GOOD LUCK MY FRIEND!! This is your decission, nobody can make it for you!

Default Hi, Posey

I'm with ya, Posey. I'm so glad you're going to quit. Actually I'd like to quit myself. Don't know HOW, but I'd really like to. Not only because it can't be helping the morg issue but also because my mother died of lung cancer.

It's easier for men to quit cold turkey than for women to do it. I've read that women have a greater psychological dependence on cigarettes than men do; we have to battle that as well as the physical addiction. It's even more important for us to find some enjoyable activity or endeavor to replace smoking (not eating!) Using a step-down approach is also better for us.

Do you have a date for being cigarette-free? Holler at me anytime and I'll sure give you all the support I can; I may be looking to you for some support as well. Maybe we could buddy each other through it; we're far enough away from each other that at least we know we won't shoot each other or anything!

Smile PE DVT and cigarettes.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone on this forum made a NY resolution to quit smoking and drinking if they do.

One friend I have couldn't stop smoking so he went to a hypotist and hasn't smoked since.

I have read that nicotine is the most addictive drug there is. There are layers to nicotine addiciton, emotional, psycological and addicition.

One herbalist said first address the nervous system with a relaxing nervine herb, take Lobelia, helps reduce the cravings, find something you like to do, try meditation or yoga have a support group. Just a few ideas.

Posey, I will be praying and pulling for you and supporting you. We could have a support group.

We all know that everything Barak said is true. Everyone knows the dangers of smoking. Thank God he can say it like it is. Thanks Barack.

Let's all support Posey, okay.

You might set a timer and only smoke when the bell rings. Make the between times longer and longer and keep taking a nervine herb and Lobelia.

May God give you the strength to succeed
Gator

I just heard the Barak Obama quit smoking by using nicotine gum.

I know it is not easy Posey but please look into things that can help you. I will research it too. I did for a dear friend of mine years ago but have forgotten what can help. I and my 4 siblings do not smoke and are a rare occurrence for growing up with smoking being accepted. We grew up with a ton of second hand smoke. At one point both my parents smoked. My dad was able to quit in his 30's my mom did not and still smokes today. It really worriers me because she has had 3 siblings die from lung cancer. Not sure why we beat the smoking trend other then the smell after being away from it nauseated us. To this day if I get a gift from my mom like clothing I can't wear it unless washed and sometimes that does not even help. We have a strong anti smoking ban in California so now when I smell cigarettes I am even more sensitive because I am no longer use to it.

You can do it. I truly believe you can.

Default I did forget to mention a funny cigarette story

i forgot the cigarette story, when I was about 13 I got some CIGAR loads and put them in my mothers cigaretts, well as any good prankster knows CIGAR loads will blow a cigarette up real good, looks like a cannon in the cartoons when it blows up, the paper curls to the face and the tabaco is gone right down to the filter and then there is the look on their face

My mother went down to do the laundry after I had loaded half a pack up with these things, LOL, ha ha ha ha ha, BANG, I start to laugh, like mad and she screams out, DID YOU PUT ANY MORE OF THOSE DAMED THINGS IN MY CIGARETTES,.......No Ma! BANG she had lit number two, she was so mad i had to run to get away.

She brought that one up many times over the years

Cigar loads they stop people from smoking one way or the other, LOL

I did the same thing to my girlfriend and the dam thing had to blow just as she was hating on some other woman across the room, the eyes were flashing ugly, throwing darts at each other and all of a sudden she whips out that cigarette and as always the CIGAR load blew it clear down to the filter, she just looked too funny with that blow up cigarette still in her yap, the whole place was in a roar,

and the hot headed Italian girl was beating on the joker that could not stop laughing.

Still I laugh

You know these replies are all a wonderful thing to read today.

I have to say to Barak, you gave me a big smile. Thank you for hammering on me a bit and helping me, a friend, to understand more.

Jonsi, you spoke of calling each other. Other than cell phones, does anyone else here have Skype? It is free for PC to PC calling and video too!! If you call a cell or landline than it costs a little but who would do that in this day and age of cell phones.

For Skype, just google it and get to the site. Download it and voila, you can call anyone else who is on Skpe free for PC to PC calls. Many stores have it on their sites also and you can call them free. My laptop does not have a webcam built in so my son bought me one. They are not expensive. I Skype with my granddaughter. She loves it.

BTW, my Christmas had a big surprise this year. My son and his wife decided it would not hurt to bring the girls over for a while so I got to see my granddaughter that I have not seen in nearly 3 yrs. She is 4 and still remembered me. Plus I got to meet my new 4 month old granddaughter. They didn't tell me they were coming and it really brought tears to my eyes.

Anyway, anyone who wants to, check into Skype. I already have one member here on my Skype contact list. We could support each other to quit smiking this way. I don't know if you can do conferencing. Have to check that out. Got the news on and they just caid Skype is adding video calling to its iPhone app.

Default Big tip

If you are going to get skype, GO TO, skype.com in the address box, do not google it.

skype.com is without added business tracking cookies. When you download ANYTHING FREE from retail sites it is not FREE it comes with your agreement that you would like a little dog following you around the internet and refirecting you.

FREE games are the worst, FREE ecards, FREE anything

Hey thanks Barak, I needed to know that. I did download it from Free Skype calls and cheap calls to phones - Skype

Now maybe you can answer another question but it is way OT. I have a Samsung Blu ray which I get Netflix streaming in kitchen/dining area. I als have a Wii in the living room and I get Netflix that way also.

All was find at first but now on the Wii it takes the movies a long time to begin and they keep stopping and retreiving movie. This is the second time it has happened. I assume it has somethig to do with bandwidth but why would it work sometime OK and other times not?

Any ideas?
