| AM: I have 3 clots in my lower left leg. They are not the round type blood clot, they are long. 2 are in my calf and 1 is behind my knee. It is Deep Vein Thrombosis. I had to watch a video about Warfarin and another about giving myself shots at home (the shots are to get the blood thinned quickly because the Warfarin takes 5-7 days to thin blood). However, after finding out the cost of the shots, I opted not to do this. The med. does not dissolve the clots, it only thins the blood so it can pass by the clots. Tomorrow I have to have blood checked again, and INS blood test, this is in order to get the War. dosage right. I also am having a Cat Scan for my lungs at 10 am to check for lung cancer. Cancer is one thing which can cause blood clotting. Also, I have been having shortness of breath so that could mean a Pulmonary Embolism; meaning that part of one of the clots broke off and traveled to lung. I went in yesterday thinking it was from M. So, I had no questions in mind to ask. Now I have many so I'll have to call nurse today and ask her. I will let you know how the CT goes. If it does turn out I have cancer, treatment on my part would depend upon the stage of it. I won't rack up a humumgous bill just to leve it with my husband after I'm gone. posey PM: Well I talked with nurse and she told me that a piece of a clot can break away at any time and travel to heart, lungs, and/or brain. I can't do any exercising with this leg. I feel like a walking time b, knowing that at any time this could happen with a piece of a clot breaking off. I had a spurt of energy a few weeks ago and did more things around the house. I think this is what may have caused my leg to swell again and cause extreme pain in calf.

| Oh, Posey, I'm so sorry to hear this. Hopefully it's not cancer. I will keep you in my prayers as you go through this, whatever you're facing. When will you have the results of the CT? |

I have lost many family members who had DVT. The Good news is ... DVT didn't kill them.... it was a " commonality" symptom. Aspirin regimens were involved... low doses... please check with your Doc Do not give up the Ship! There is a way, we just have to find it... my ankles swell at night and I am very tiny.. I may have gout. Please try and stay positive and loved! |
