| Article in the Albuquerque Journal today: ************************************************** * Saturday, November 13, 2010 Bites, Lesions May Be Tied To Morgellon's Disease By Richard Fagerlund For the Journal Q: My mother has something biting her and she wants to get someone to spray her house, but nobody will because they can't find the bug. Can't they just generally spray the house? I don't think she is imagining the bites, although no one else in the house is getting bitten. A: It is not permissible to spray pesticides unless you have a target pest. It is certainly not ethical. Over the years I have received a number of e-mails, letters and phone calls from people who said they have bugs crawling on their skin, burrowing under their skin, pieces of fiber growing out of their skin and an assortment of other unusual symptoms. There was a name for this condition: delusory parasitosis (DP). I always accepted that and referred people to a dermatologist, who would then refer them to a psychologist. I am not so sure anymore. Now I am getting these calls almost daily, and I imagine the pest control industry gets them far more often than I. I am now of the belief that this is indeed a physical condition caused by an unknown source or sources. The name for it is Morgellon's disease (MD), but a large segment of the medical community doesn't recognize it as a real disease. They may be right, but I think it is about time we seriously, as a society, look into it. I believe that Morgellon's may be a number of different conditions with different causes. Many people experience fibers in their lesions or coming out their pores. This is interesting and I would like to see a government or private agency set up a national database to collect these fibers, and other physical evidence for future study. Some folks say that mites or small insects are the cause. I have offered to look at any specimens and determine if mites or insects are present and to get them identified by a specialist if they are. Of the hundreds of samples I have received, the only thing that I found that was from an insect was several exoskeletons from hide beetle larvae. Hide beetles belong to the family Dermestidae and they should be considered a health problem. The larval form of these beetles have hairs that can penetrate the skin and cause itching and even rashes to develop. People exposed to a lot of dermestid beetle larvae have been known to suffer from conjunctivitis, nausea and even irritation of the respiratory tract. Also, because of their diet, there is the possibility that they can spread bacilli or spores of anthrax. Anthrax bacilli have been found in the feces of dermestid beetles. I am of the belief that MD may be caused by pollutants in the air that are reacting with our skin and flesh cells in some odd way. If I had to make a guess, I would suggest pesticides may be a factor. Pesticides have been linked to Parkinson's disease as well as some genital abnormalities in babies. I think it is perfectly logical to come to the conclusion that exposure to pesticides can cause many of the symptoms about which people who suffer from Morgellon's disease complain. | Didn't you post something about the bugman back in 2007? I know I remember getting on his website at some point and wishing that I had known about him when I was first sick as I had some bugs that I could have sent him which were very large. Too bad we did not know who to approach with samples back then. I never even saw a doctor at that time, not after reading about how doctors were treating patients who went in to see them in good faith. Most were essentially dismissed without anyone even looking to determine what might be happening and given a label as we know of DOP. Anyway, thanks for posting the article Jonsi. It's good to know someone believes these symptoms could have a physical cause which so far remains unknown and also that the causes may not be the same in all cases. Since pesticides have been applied to food crops for years, I have to wonder why such symptoms were not more wide spread earlier. After all these products have been in use since the 1950's. I think there is a lot more to this illness than just that.

| Jonsi, Its amazing he is putting this effort into bugs. When you show doctors bugs they run the other way and refuse too do any testing. I no longer have bugs at this time and have discared all my specs. all I have now are some black specs that pop up now and again. but will remember if they come back will send him some specs. sammy |

| I wrote this guy back last winter when I couldn't figure out what was biting me in my car, when I was still in denial about Morgellons. He suggested a natural oil pesticide. I never used it because of the damage it would do to the upholstery. But if it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he has some interesting web videos and his website is awesome. |

| I, too, have seen his website before. Jonsi - I looked up the Journal website, but didn't see this article. Did you re-type it, or scan it from a hard copy? Wish I had a link to it. It is very telling that he is getting calls almost daily, as opposed to once in awhile. It's seems intuitive that it is spreading, but the number of affected households hasn't changed on the MRF site in a long time. What up with that? SS |

| Hi SS, I was able to copy/paste it yesterday when the article was in the paper. I had to view the article as a trial reader (hope this makes sense). I ******** out the phone number but anyone wants his # pm me. I think it is important for the new members who are experiencing bugs coming out of their skin to have someone look at them as soon as possible. I never experienced actual bugs coming out of my skin, just fibers, glitter, & biting, hair biting me, weird spider webs etc. I was excited to see "Morgellons" mentioned in the newspaper. SS, I can send you the actual newspaper article if you want it. In the white light, ~jonsi

| Or if anyone wishes to remain anonymous it is easy to look up Fagerlunds phone number here. Since his phone number is listed by him online it should not be a problem to post this link which when opened reveals his phone number: http://www.askthebugman.com/index.ph...tact&Itemid=18
