Default Need your advice

Hi all, so nice to have you here. I am the youngest of 8 kids, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. I have always been shy and not wanted to bother others with my problems. So I did not tell them about my condition until I realized that it is morgellons. Before I knew this, my brother invited us all to his lake house the second week of May.

When I knew that yes, I have this crazy fiber disease, I began calling them and telling them all, this was a very difficult process. They, and my parents, have all been very supportive. I had the most difficulty with my brothers, and until today neither of them knew. I guess I was putting it off partly because deep in my heart I need to see my family in May, as I am pretty much by myself, but am fearful of infecting someone, or an environment.

Last night in a phone conversation one of my sisters told me that two other sisters are concerned about being around me, and staying in the same house for several days - and I am fearful of this also. So, I had a meltdown last night. I called my mom this morning and asked her if she would call my brother and tell him, because I just could not go through it again, and that I would not be able to go to the lake house. Wonderful as my mom is, she offered to get me a motel room near by, so I could still be with them. Bless her!!!

She called my brother, talked with him and his wife, and they said that there is a separate room I can stay in and I can wash my sheets every day if I want. This is very loving of them. But, I am still concerned with environmental contamination at their place.

My apartment currently feels pretty clean, mainly due to eco-vie, and citric acid, and I could take these products with me. I am still uneasy though. I do have an appt with Virginia Savely on Tues, and will ask her. But I really value all of your experiences. What do you think?
Much thanks, hummingbird

Hi Hummingbird. I have had this for 11 years and nobody else around me has gotten it. In all honesty, I had no idea what I had until last July and never even gave a thought that this could possibly be contagious. My belief is that the person has to be exposed to the environmental cause and that your immune system has to be challenged in such a way that your body doesn't have the ability to fight it off. It seems to me that if you take the precautions that you do in your home, that you should be okay. You do need to continue to enjoy your life. Those are my ideas anyways.

Hummingbird, I can't believe how similar our situations are. I'm the 6th of 7 kids in a very close family and while my siblings have been VERY supportive, just found out they're more freaked out about contagion than I thought.

I just learned they don't want to have Easter at my mom's house with me there. One of my sisters, who I've always considered my best friend, won't even see me or get in a car with me. (She also stopped calling and emailing several months ago -- maybe she's afraid of getting it through the phone lines?!!)

Our family has a lake house as well and we were together up there last Labor Day when the thought was that I had scabies. No one got Morgellons from me. I've been staying at my mom's house for a few months as I've been really sick and didn't want to be alone -- and she hasn't gotten it (nor is she concerned).

If you read what Randy Wymore, THE chief Morg researcher, has to say, he doesn't believe its infectious. And, I agree with Jano that you have to be bitten by something AND have a very compromised immune system. Why don't you ask Ginger Savely what she thinks? And if it is infectious, perhaps being on meds makes it less infectious?

Again, I can't believe how similar our big family situations are -- we'll have to pm when you get back.

I've talked to two different people at Dr. Harvey's office and asked point blank the same question. Neither of the have caught anything and they see pretty much the worst of us on a daily basis. The vector for being spread goes beyond simple person contact, but may involve location, environment, genetics, fluids--who knows? But apparently just being in proximity won't cause someone to get this. There's something more, they think.
