| Gut-Invading Worms | Medical News and Health Information Reported September 29, 2010 Gut-Invading Worms (Ivanhoe Newswire) -- What did the intestinal worm say to the human body when the regulatory T cell-inducing pathway was blocked? It was nice gnawing you. But are these gut-invading worms all bad news? A recent study shows how intestinal worms sidestep the immune system by inducing the development of suppressive T cells and suppress allergic responses. Immune T cells are essential for the clearance of invading microbes -- including the renowned intestinal worm -- but flipping the switch off on the immune system is essential for avoiding collateral tissue destruction. The job goes undone in part to a population of suppressive T cells called regulatory T (T reg) cells. Rick Maizels of the University of Edinburgh and his team of bookworms show that gut-invading worms produce protein that generates T reg cells in mice; in this way, the worms make possible their own survival. It's like famous joke in the beginning of the article (maybe not famous, but clever nonetheless), when the T reg-inducing pathway becomes blocked, the worms pack their bags and head for the big apple. T reg cells allow these intestinal enemies to worm their way into the gut, but it's not as detrimental as you would think (as bad as say . . . global worming). These cells suppress allergic responses, which may explain why humans infected with intestinal worms tend to suffer less from allergies. These worms might now glow, but they are shining light on the issue of avoiding collateral tissue destruction. SOURCE: Journal of Experimental Medicine, September 2010

| Great info Posey... Some other factors in suppressed immune responses are cooler body temperatures and something called the fever response. Cooler body temperatures I have noticed that my body temperature runs a few degrees cooler than the norm. I have asked medical assistants and doctors about this and they have told me that abnormal body temps are "normal" now. More condusive internal environment for pathogens to thrive in? I think so. Perhaps eating foods that increase one's metabolism along with increasing physical activities can help with this. also... Fever Response The body has a natural immune response called the "Fever Response". This is a normally nocturnal event that happens when the body is threatened with infection. This raising of the body's core temperature helps fight off pathogens and infection. Of course the poor sleeping habits that often come with Morgellons can affect the fever response. Sleep is crucial to good health. Adopting treatments that center around your sleeping routine may help you achieve the proper sleep (7 hours to 9 hours for most). Treating your bedding with enzymes or diatomaceous earth and using clean, laundered sheets and the use of vinyl coverings for your mattress... (worse case scenario may include getting rid of old mattresses and possibly using inflatable ones that are easily cleaned). Good night time habits for better sleep may include detox baths, using sulfur soap to lather up and air dry without rinsing off (rub into skin), or using essential oils and/or enzymes on the skin. Melatonin is a generally safe sleep aid that does not effect the body adversely. Magnesium sulfate (epson salts) in the bath have a relaxing effect on the body's muscle along with detoxing effects. Healthy sleep will restore you mentally and physically too. Make efforts and find a routine that allows this necessary tool for healing. | An old thread discussing the cooler body temperatures that many notice accompanying morgellons symptoms. I have used the protocol discussed in permalink 2 of this thread. I used it long before I had morgellons and can attest to a normal body temperature making a difference to my health when I was on it. The doctor who used this protocol is no longer in practice and I never found a replacement doctor who knew how to use as well as he did (he originated the protocol). I honestly wonder if being able to get my body temperature to normal most of the time would see those morg symptoms I still have disappear entirely. I can get mostly well, but never totally. I do attribute that to lower body temperatures whether caused by germs or other parasites lowering immune function or just a thyroid which does not produce adequate levels of T3 to counter the reverse T3 caused by stress of whatever sort. low body temp? who is cold I forgot to mention, I have seen parasites in my stool when using herbs for that but I have not noticed their presence made my allergic symptoms better. Just from my perspective. My allergies seem to have stayed the same no matter what the parasite status is or was (I hope).
