| Hi Everyone, I realized that many start new topics and it is easier to get info out and in. I have been tagging on late in topic strings so now trying a new tactic! A month ago, someone asked about hydrogen peroxide in the ears. Since I was not speaking up at that time - only reading, I'll address that now. I grew up swimming (I'm a young 52 now) and always had swimmers ear. As a child I thought the 'explosion' and 'bubbling' I heard after my mom put the HP in my ears was really neat. As an adult I know that it means there is more bacteria, possibly infection or sometimes trapped water or wax in my ears. If there is also ear ache and light fever, probable infection. Draining could be infection but it could be water or loosened wax. Everyone has to use their best judgment, but the main thing is: It has done no damage to my ears or hearing and used within reason, shouldn't. It may actually keep some problems away! I wouldn't use it everyday, at most on a bad week, twice. I say this just because the ear canal is delicate tissue, HP is a drying agent and you don't want to actually cause a problem by over-use. So fill a little bottle (I use a brown colored one for protection from light) with fairly fresh HP, it does expire and can go flat if left open. My bottle has an eye-dropper screw on top. Tilt your head to one side and squeeze a dropper full in your ear. You'll get to know the sounds I described earlier!! NOW, KEEPING YOUR HEAD TILTED, PUT YOUR FINGERS TO YOUR NOSE LIKE YOU WOULD AS YOU WOULD JUMP IN THE SWIMMING POOL AND LIGHTLY BLOW PRESSURE TO YOUR NOSE, STOP BLOWING AND RELEASE FINGERS FROM NOSE, you'll hear and feel the liquid go down your ear canal. THIS IS THE SAME TECHNIQUE USED IN AIR PLANES WHEN YOU NEED TO POP YOUR EARS - IT IS CALLED THE VAL SALVA (sp?) TECHNIQUE. THIS OPENS UP THE EAR CANAL TO GET THE HP GOOD AND DEEP INTO THE CANAL. LET IT SIT FOR ROUGHLY 30 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTE - I JUDGE TIME BY HOW MUCH BUBBLING IS GOING ON! DRAIN AND REPEAT IN OTHER EAR. Now Alcohol was also inquired about, my opinion is that alcohol is much harsher and a stronger drying agent, and since HP is so effective, I stay away from the use of alcohol in my ears. HAND CLEANING - Remember, the whole world of medicine was changed the day that washing of hands became standard procedure! And, with Morgellon's, unfortunately our hands and fingernails are a major source of critters to sprout infestation and reinfestation. Wash hands frequently. I use an antibacterial hand soap that has citric acid in it and I use a clean nail brush to buff them and the tissue around them real good - sometimes I'll even use the brush to buff my hands for exfoliation, I also use an antimicrobial soap that I'll tell more about in the next paragraph. Clean your fingernails at the very least once a day with clean fingernail tools, disinfecting the tool between each finger in either alcohol or HP. I also put my fingers in a small bowl of Hydrogen Peroxide. If you have Eco-vie, I am also making a finger bowel and soaking my fingers in it, alternating with the HP. It is easier to keep your fingernails clean if you keep them short, but not so short you can't get a cleaning tool underneath the nail. The antimicrobial soap I use is sold at Walgreens under the name 'Hibiclens', 8 oz. for $9.99. Some surgeons are asking their patients to use it for 3 days prior to surgery. Kinda lets us know that some surgeons are seeing something out there. Now I use gloves to protect my hands and to protect items that I am working on - like when brushing or washing my hair, applying lotions to my face or body, putting dirty laundry in washer, folding clean laundry, cleaning known areas of infestation, etc. I buy mine at Walgreens where I pay $4.00 for 100 disposeable Vinyl gloves. This is the best deal I have found yet. I put a big dollup of antibacterial hand gel on before I put on my gloves just for enhancement. Now I got an e-mail a couple of months ago from this site, I think, that was concerned about some people using dangerous stuff trying to eradicate themselves of these 'things'. The recommendation of using lemon juice in your hair after washing and conditioning (if you can still do this without flare-up) is an excellent and effective tool. Citric Acid! I use a small squeeze bottle so that I can control the flow and its direction - lemon juice hurts in the eyes! Wash and condition your hair, then while having a dry towel nearby for your eyes in case of need, squeeze the lemon juice all over your head, thoroughly behind the ears and maybe down the back of the neck and under ears. It may sting a little, or a bunch if their is an open lesion or sore, but it is very temporary. That's it, leave it in your hair - it is actually good for your hair (and highlights if you are blonde). This treatment has brought me great comfort and I will probably keep it up forever. I have found a sea salt scrub to exfoliate my body at Dollar Tree for $1.00 a jar and a lotion called SPA with sea salt, again for $1.00 at Dollar Tree. You just gotta love those dollar stores that really charge one dollar! These are just good old common sense reminders about good old common treatments. I miraculously have a doctor's appointment with a Dermatologist/Pathologist (perfect!) at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas next Tuesday. Please read my note in 'Feather Pillows' and get back to me with suggestions. Tks! Love ya and keep the faith for a cure! Therese P.S. Morgellon's

| Great stuff, Therese! (BTW: I was actually the desperate person who asked if I could use hydrogen peroxide in my ears!) I especially loved your idea of putting antimicrobial gel on hands under the plastic gloves. I actually got bitten a few times through the gloves when I was cleaning. After that, I pretty much abandoned the latex glove thing. (Not very smart) Also, wanted to congratulate you for being THE VERY FIRST person to use THAT icon!!! Redibooks and I were just laughing about the monkey guy yesterday, wondering if anyone would ever have the nerve to use it -- and here you are! ![]() |

But, I can think of one improvement that didn't come to mind. 'Morgellon's' needs a color change! I keep trying to make it yellow, but can't seem to make it work. Does anyone know how?
