| Recently I have begun to wake up in the morning and I have these rust colored blotches on my face and scalp. At first I thought it was blood but it is obvious it isn't, at least not healthy blood. The patches are not raised, they are flat, don't itch and do wash off. Anyone else have/had this ever? They are a pale rust color. posey

| This is a possible answer... louse is primarily found on the pubic hair but can also be found on the abdomen, thighs, underarms or even eyelashes. These lice cling either to the hair or the skin. They look like tiny crabs and many people also call them crab louse. The affected skin may show small red dots, faint bluish colored patches as well as the rust colored excrement of the louse. |

| .Possibility of rust patches that DONT wash off Definition: Schamberg's disease, or progressive pigmented purpuric dermatitis, is a chronic discoloration of the skin which usually affects the legs and often spreads slowly. This disease is more common in males and may occur at any age from childhood onward. II. Cause: * People who develop Schamberg's disease have leaky blood vessel walls which allow red blood cells to slip through into the skin. The red cells in the skin then fall apart and release their iron which has a rust color. This accounts for the orange tint of the rash. III. Symptoms: * The lesions are most frequent on the lower limbs, but may occur anywhere on the body, including the hands. They may vary in number. * They consist of irregular patches of orange or brown pigmentation due to hemosiderin (iron), with characteristic "cayenne pepper" spots appearing within and at the edge of old lesions. * There are usually no symptoms, although there may be some slight itching. * The eruption may persist for many years. The pattern of the eruption changes, with slow extension and often some clearing of the original lesions. IV. Treatment: * There is no permanent cure for Schamberg's disease; however, the itching can be controlled by a cortisone cream. [HRule Image] |

| sojii, no flecks or dark rust. Just a light colored rust which wipes off. janedoe, I'm a girl too. However, as hard as it is to shave one's head, I have one advantage, I'm not employed. It will be 2 years in Jan. 2011 that I have had my head shaved. Through hit and miss trials of things to use, I have been able to get off a lot of the plaque or film. Sometimes I can pull off sheets of this film and you can see different lengths white things and the film is loaded with white dots. Under the really thick spots are what I would call hyphae and I keep pullin' away more and more; very short, white, and no root. Janice, not lice. I'd be able to see that, and I keep hair shaved. This does wash off. It happened 2 times. First time it was just my head and it looked like it was smeared on. My scarf on my head was ruined from it. I threw it out. Second time was yesterday and it was a few places on my face. I'm taking Nystatin and it is that type color. But if it was from any medication it would happen all the time wouldn't it? Plus, I have been taking Nystatin for 6 months now. I also take Doxycyclene, Azithromycin, and Flagyl (sp). My pain Dr. of nine years is working with me. He knows M is a real thing as well as Chronic Lyme Disease. Since my titre levels were elevated for Mycoplasma and Chlamydia Pneumonia we are working on a specific tx plan. I have to tell the group about something that really helps to get the wiggly things off your skin. I know they are wiggly because I hold them with a tweezers over a 10x magnified mirror and the end wiggles. It can be seen even without the mirror.

| There is a possiblity that the rust colored patches are fungus. The more I search... the more things come back to fungus. Please Read the fungus thread. . There are types that feed off of keratin ( eg hair) and can perforate the hair shaft. Janice |
