Default Call for Entries!

Ladies and gentlemen, you are hereby invited to participate in a grassroots effort to raise awareness about Morgellons disease.

My background is as a graphic designer in Marketing. I will assemble your ideas into a series of professional, letter sized flier/posters that will be made available online. You, your family and friends, will be able to download these pdfs, print and mail them to whomever you’d like to reach. Physical mail. The good old fashioned way. Letters that pile up, fill in-boxes, require opening and looking at. This can be a very powerful tool and one that every one of you can take action with.

This campaign can be multi-faceted in it’s message. Perhaps you want to talk about the lack of funding for this disease, or the branding of sufferers as delusional, or that Morgellons is not even recognized as a disease. Perhaps you’d like to address the alarming increase of Morgellons cases, the contagion factor and the threat to public safety. Maybe you’d want to address GMO’s and the link to sickness, or the fact that no government agency is even bothering to collect data about the numbers of people who are presently ill. The world is your oyster. Let your voice be heard.

We can use this thread to discuss and present ideas.
What I invite you to submit would be the components needed in flier design. Original copy. This can be a headline, body text or tagline. Don’t get hemmed in by my ideas. Find your own and let’s start talking about them.
Original artwork. This can be illustrations, photos, illustrated words or anything else you can think of. For artwork I’ll elaborate on guidelines and ways for you to deliver the images to me.

Think in terms of credibility and image. You want to create messages that do not alienate, offend or attack those you are hoping to reach.
You want to invite and educate them to the cause. You want them to be on your side.

Some of these flyers can have a space reserved for you to write your own message. Maybe some will have a space that you can attach a photo. Personal stories and images create a strong message and you have the power to deliver it.

That being said, you all need to understand that only some of the ideas submitted will be designed. I’m not sure how many different designs I will create at this point. That depends on the inspiration and excitement generated from your words.

Let’s try to leave our egos out of this and create a pool of creativity that we can draw upon. Don’t be offended if your idea doesn’t make it to final actualization—it just might be the springboard for an idea that does.

Default leaflet

Hi Zara and all,

I've spent the last few nights thinking about what could be printed easily, given out to the public for rallies, info points (inc. content relevant to US, UK....anywhere).

I've drafted something - a two sided A4 leaflet aimed at the general public. It majors on information, so doesn't have any pictures of morg debris. I can't decide if pictures would work better than description?? Zara, what do you reckon?

All thoughts welcome anywho...

Cool my bad!

Rally's can be expensive,....sorry my bad,... for most, that have exhausted their savings & so on,..what about mass mailing to the Public making them aware of the facts & only facts,...helping them understand the plight of suffers in word and photos,..that Doctor's suppress this by misdiagnose,.and government is doing nothing ... Science is based on fact,..Doctor's diagnose w/little facts more like trial & error,.....something cheap,..but affective like maybe posting it on utube,...mailings,...the use of university's that are full of great young energetic folk's,.. that will help in a good cause,.. especially if this might effect them & their Family's,...some time in the future,...we get newbie's all the time,....Zara,...your doing the artwork & layout,...we need a mediator or 2 to direct and coordinate things to have coherence..,...I think we at a point will need to vote,....ok this is a start,...will need to form on the fly. Doc Hollidy ... ...Janice!,...I have never seen anyone that can post as fast as you,...your like some kind of supper poster,...and good energy and thought.

part of a good point,...but sudel my pell ck bites,...and my brain is Burt forgive my speeeeeeling. sudel,..not alarming... something understandable of some 20.000 plus suffers,..the OK State site stopped a year & 1/2 ago was 14,000 households,..and the Public might be a threat of contracting this. .

Default Is this meant to be folded?

Jo, are you planning to fold this? I'm assuming you are. If not I'd shift things around so the panel that reads Information Leaflet is on the far left.

This is a great start. I don't really believe the fliers have to have graphic images, it's my impulse to do them that way, but that's the designer in me. Information sources are important—especially at a rally. So your idea to put it together this way is a good one.

Couple of suggestions I have would be to relist the symptoms so that the defining symptoms (and the ones ppl are probably googling) are up top. Such as:
1. Itching/biting/crawling sensations
2. Lesions/sores
3. Fibers
4. Mental confusion, brain fog, poor concentration
5. Fatigue
6. White granules or black "specks"

I'd substitute "filaments" for fibers as that is how the majority of folks describe them (and searches for).

I like the idea you used on the cover panel to have the descriptive words angled but I'd swap some of them out for more common symptoms. Again, like the list above. Things like "stiff neck" can be part of so many other health issues that I'd stay away from highlighting them on the cover panel. Invisible nits is another I'd shy away from. I'm assuming that you mean invisible bugs in the environment. People are going to be confused by that.

One thing I thought you could include under "How can I tell if I have Morgellons" would be to shine a UV Black light on the body because the fibers are phosphorescent.

I'm wondering if you could send me the copy in an email? I've got some comments about the text—some ways to save space and delete a few lines that are not necessary to make room for a few more points but I don't want to type it all out.

... anyway, it's a great beginning.
