| Please help me if you can. This may have been posted about before. Any kind of knowledge or something that would help at all. For about the past 3 - 4 weeks, my feet and a little in my hands, there is such great movement. These guys are especially large or are bonding together. Sometimes it feels like I have sandals on (tight sandals). The kind of sandals that go around your ankle and a band by your toes (not between). Anyway, TMI, sometimes these bands tighten really hard. I cannot seem to find anyway or thing to help/stop, so I just rock and groan. Also, because my feet are mostly numb, I slide or step out of my shoes. That is except for tying tennis shoes. I think that I will be spending most time at home unless I get some help. Thanks for anything you can tell me. hella |

| Hey Hellalone.... sorry to hear that.... There was a post the other day and it was about a foot bath. Isotonic foot bath i think. Have you tried soaking in a tub? Maybe hot water with some epsom salt 2-4 cups and I usually add the same amount of baking soda and a couple of cups of vinegar then run the bath pretty hot with water.... Use about half as much if you are only going to soak your feet. This bath seems to drawn out some of the morgellons... and epsom bath soaks are great for tired/stressed muscles.... just a thought.... hope you find some relief. Xiblanque link... | Has any one had the symtom of of charlie horse feet. I am taking calcium with my vit C drip IV. So I get enought calcium. This is painful. This never happened until the ole morgellons hit and wondering if any one else is experiencing this. Janice |

| Yes, Janice, that has been a problem for me too. I used to take magnesium at night to help with that, but with the herbs I take now I can't as I would probably wind up with diarrhea by adding magnesium. You might ask the doctor if it would help to take some. Potassium imbalance may be another problem when you have charlie horses. I try to eat bananas and drink some citrus juices every day to ensure good potassium levels. These are high in natural potassium. The IV's might be washing out some minerals, so I would ask about that too.

| I think charlie horses come from being dehydrated. When I get one I drink a glass of water so I don't get another one and it works. Drinking water is something that is hard for me to do and probably part of my problem. |

| For awhile I had numbness on the left hand on one side only. It went away and I am not sure what made it better. I take a lot of supplements and will never know which one stopped it. I am just thankful that it went! Janice I don't get the charlie horses in my feet so much, but have had them in my left hand, strange! Of course I get them from time to time in the calf of my leg. I think TC might be right about the potassium. for a while I had high potassim but it went back to normal. So many weird symptoms with this condition. Some of the things I experience are just that...weird! One day I woke up and discovered I could not step up the stairs from my den into the kitchen area. My leg simply would not lift. I had to hang on to the counter (thank goodness the edge comes around to the step section) and pull with all my might to get up. Scared the c--p out of me. I still can't climb stairs without help. This is life changing, no doubt about that. I sold my business and gave up a very active life style and almost became a recluse. Today I am much better than I was when this all began......when did this start? That is a good question. Peace and love to you all, DD |

| Along with reasons, the most important listed are dehydration (the cheapest remedy of all) and lack of potassium. The espsom salt bath suggested here would increase magnesium levels especially in the effected muscles. I usually take 2 or 3 epsom salt baths per week. All of these suggestions are inexpensive: What are Home Remedies for a Charley Horse? A charley horse is a type of muscle spasm that most frequently occurs in the leg, though it can occur in any muscle. Hot weather and exercise can both cause a charley horse to occur. Charley horses can also happen during the night while a person is sleeping. In all cases, the charley horse is typically caused by dehydration and lack of potassium. In order to prevent a charley horse, a person should stretch before engaging in exercise. In addition, the workout routine should be modified appropriately to ensure it is not too strenuous. Drinking fluids while exercising, particularly those that increase potassium, also helps prevent a charley horses. Eating bananas also helps increase potassium levels. If a charley horse does occur, soaking in a tub of warm water with some Epsom salts added can help ease the pain. Typically, it is best to soak for about twenty to thirty minutes in order to obtain results. Simply rubbing the charley horse can also relieve the pain. It is important always to rub with the muscle that has been affected by the charley horse, rather than across it. If the charley horse occurs in the calf, which is one of the most common spots for it to occur, it is best to rub from behind the knee toward the heel. Since dehydration and lack of potassium can cause a charley horse, drinking water and eating foods with potassium can sometimes help to make it go away. Similarly, stretching – particularly the calf – can help make the pain and the spasm subside. Another remedy for a charley horse is to cut up three small lemons, one small grapefruit, and two small oranges and place them in a blender, peels and all. After blending these together, add a teaspoon of cream of tartar and blend again. This mixture helps to relieve the stiffness associated with a charley horse. Two tablespoons of the mixture should be taken orally along with two tablespoons of water twice a day. Ideally, one dose should be taken in the morning and another should be taken before going to bed. Vitamin supplements can also help alleviate a charley horse, particularly if it is brought on by a vitamin deficiency. Taking 400 IU of vitamin E may also help. What are Home Remedies for a Charley Horse? What Causes Charlie Horses Charlie Horses is the name given to muscle spasm experienced by an individual, especially in the leg. The most probable area where Charlie horse strikes is the calf region and that too, at night. In case of such a spasm, the concerned muscle contracts and cramps, without any slightest indication beforehand. The spasm is very painful and locks the particular muscle in a contracted position. The pain experienced during Charley horses is so sudden and intense that you lose complete control over the muscle and find it next to impossible to use it. What Causes Charlie Horses Often people have been found wondering that why do you get Charley horse i.e. what are the reasons behind its occurrence. In the following lines, we have tried to provide an answer for the same. * In most of the cases, Charlie horses are the late responses of straining a muscle during exercise, or otherwise. * Charley horse might be the result of an electrolyte or mineral imbalance in the body. * In some of the cases, Charlie horses have been found to be a signal of the onset of a vascular disease. * At times, kidney dialysis has lead to the occurrence of Charley horse in the muscles. * Low levels of minerals, such as potassium or calcium, in the body can be one of the reasons for Charlie horses. * Low level of liquids in the body, while exercising, might be a probable cause of Charley horse. * Some spasms, especially in the neck area, might be the result of taking too much stress. * Charley horses in the upper leg are mainly caused by activities like running or jumping. * Some of the spasms occur because of the irritation of the nerve that connects to a muscle. * The most common type of Charley horse, found in the calf region, is often the result of kicking while swimming. | Wow, Dizzy, you have had some frightening symptoms. I am glad to hear at least some of them have cleared up for you. I think the morgs love the spleen as well as the liver. As TCM understands the body the spleen controls muscle strength in the body. One thing you can do this summer is eat some yellow and orange foods every day to help the spleen function better. The Chinese assign colors to organ systems. The spleen is yellow therefore they advise eating more foods in this color range if there is a weakness in this area. The spleen (includes the pancreas, the spleen is a function more than an organ in TCM) also has a flavor assigned to it which is sweet. Many yellow foods have a natural sweetness, corn, carrots, oranges, squash, pumpkin etc. Again this is a low cost way to help support the body. Quote:
