Default U.S. attempting global censorship of GMO food labeling

From Mr. Common Sense:
"(NaturalNews) I received an urgent alert from Jeffrey Smith today about a dangerous situation taking place right now at the international CODEX conference. The U.S. is attempting to push its agenda to censor all GMO labeling of foods everywhere around the world. This would result in a global GMO cover-up as consumers are left in the dark about whether their foods and grocery products are genetically modified or not.

Your help is urgently needed to send a message to the Secretaries of State (Clinton), Agriculture (Vilsack), and Health and Human Services (Sebelius) to urge them to halt the USA’s nefarious attempts to install a global GMO deception."

If you read this after the fact, don't let it stop you from signing the petition. I'm sure it could only help if people show their opposition

Default Some Good News!

Found this posted earlier today:

Kansas Governor Sebelius
Vetoes Anti-labeling Bill!

This bill would have restricted any national US dairy from properly labeling their milk products as free from genetically engineered bovine growth hormone (rbGH or rbST). Full Story.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this effort!

Default We already have that censorship in Canada

But on the up side it alreadly has changed the way I shop so for me, its a good thing. I go to small producers, local merchants, and have written lots of letters (as have friends) to the big companies asking about their, soy, soy lecithin, peanuts, corn, canola, wheat, sugar and tomatoes. (I don't eat sugar but it is in Rum and other OH beverages. Buy the really aged bottles, apparently 12 years ago there was no GMO sugar and keep them. ) Even chocolate uses soy lecithin and corn or canola are in a lot of foods. Greenpeace maintains a GMO list. They actually wield a lot of international influence.

We actually changed one company's use of GMO that we know of. Purdy's chocolates (Canadian company) went from - "oh we don't care" to "we never use GMO" after a few months of letters. Three people, and a few letters, woohoo!

Here in North America, we are run by corporate stooges. But, I can't imagine the Europeans activists and population will go for it. They have educated the public and been winning their war for no GMO for a long time.

Its great to see GMO activists on this board.

This is so urgent. We have to start calling our politicians about this and keep calling.

Most of them have someone there to answer the phone and they are used to getting calls from ppl. For thos who have never tried it it is not intimidating (usually, lol). But if enough of us call and keep calling they will hopefully stop it.

Also, I wish we could get more main stream press.

Default politicians can help.. in the USA

I am so impressed by the effects of the Ron Paul movement in the States which proves that Americans can pressure politicians and start change. You guys have a republican form of government which is a superior form of government. Even in its diminished state, it can be saved.

Here in Canada we have a "democracy" which really is tyranny by one group or another. Unless their party is out of power they do NOT LISTEN. AT ALL.
Then when they get into power they act like the last bunch. Canada is seething with corruption, there is no accoutability and the people here really are powerless with no say. One minor correction, if we have a minority government and a third party holds a real balance of power, sometimes they listen. But first they must have integrity. Its been awhile.

I think our only choice is to lobby corporations, and support the smaller companies. Think of how the natural foods movement has grown. That is because of each of our buying decisions. They are not allowed to print that there is no GMO in their products but they will tell you on the phone. Its time for every consumer to think, think critically about what they do and eat. Doesn't the definiton of certified organic mean no GMO (not sure)

Trusting governments and corporations is a fools death. There needs to be a video game getting that message out.

Ohy and one more thing, I have bought a few organic cotten things lately. It is incrediblly soft and wonderful.

Sorry to be so verbose today. It has been a long time since I could post about my real concerns.
