Default Benefits of Coconut Oil

I just wanted to post a link here to a site that has a lot of research on coconut oil. I've been taking it for my thyroid (I am also on Synthroid) and my levels between endo visits had gone down much faster than before I started taking it (could be a coincidence but felt it was worth noting). With the theories I've read on Morgs everywhere from stealth virus, to Cancer and it being caused possibly by C. Pneumonia, herpes etc. Coconut Oil seems like it could help somehow. It is naturally antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial and contains Monolauric acid the amino acid found in breast milk that boosts the immune system of infants. Its cheap enough (I buy a tub at the local health food store for $12.00). When I went for a physical my cholesterol was the same and my good cholesterol was up. I have not gained weight from it which I initially was concerned about because of the fat content. Just thought it was worth mentioning here. I've been slipping lately with taking it and now I am going to load up on it. I also put it directly on my skin and I use it in my eyes before going to bed (after using a few drops of silver).

I'm sure you can buy any kind, just make sure it is Virgin coconut oil that hasn't been processed and preferably organic.

On the left there are different links to research.

Brat, and anyone who posts in this thread, can you also give us ideas about how you eat it?

I love the taste, but realistically, I dont find ways to put it in my food that often. I never used butter much before. I put it on my sweet potatoes and it's good (but I actually like them better w only salt). I could put it in my oatmeal I guess.

It is good in yogurt EXCEPT it clumps up and gets a bit gross. I thought about trying to put some in a protein shake??? I dont know.

I mostly eat vegetables, fruit, and meat. I never really eat bread or things like that. Oatmeal or whole grains sometimes, yes.

PS- I was thinking about trying to just buy cut up coconut at Whole Foods, but my guess is you do not get the same level of benefit, unless it is just the cold pressed oil.

I add coconut oil to my grits & oatmeal. I use it as eye make up remover and it helps dry up lesions on my face while making my face feel smooth all over.

Parasites don't like grated coconut. As they don't like grated carrots. Which is the best way to eat carrots.

Hi Fracty, for me I typically either put a large clump of it in my mouth and chase with coffee (so it melts fast in my mouth) or I put it in a mug and sit the mug in a bowl of hot water to melt it. It is much easier to get down if its melted in liquid form....otherwise its like trying to devour a chapstick...blech!

Yesterday, I melted some coconut oil in a pan and mixed in hulled & lightly roasted walnuts (great omega 3 source) and sea salt for a snack. Almonds are great also. You can also add cinnamon or cayenne pepper...

I also buy organic popping corn and use coconut oil and sea salt to pop it the old fashioned way...in a large, covered pot.

I mix coconut and olive oils and lemon & organic pure apple cider vinegar (raw) with sea salt and herbs for salad dressing.

No swallowing chapstick for me

Those sound like good ideas. I think for me the most realistic will still be putting it in oatmeal, or maybe I will try plain also. I'll keep the recipes in mind, but I just tend to not do a lot of cooking.

I use Vitamin Shoppe Organic Extra Virgin brand.

It is also nice to put in your hair. If I felt itching or burning - especially around my ears - I would put it on and it works fantastically.

I use Emerald Laboratories Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil. I try to cook with it when I can also. I've used it for popcorn also Kritters and its delicious! I also use it when cooking meat sometimes and on vegetables. I'm trying to use it that way for the sake of my son because there is no way he'll eat it solid or drink it in liquid form. I put it on skin also.

I was fascinated by the article on that site about Alzheimers. I skimmed through it because it was late and I'm going to reread it, but it is amazing how much the woman's husband progressed on it. He was eating it in high doses as it acts as a ketogenic (? seems he was eating low carb and taking high doses and the ketones help his body heal?)

I am debating on doing the Master Cleanse again (I did it a few times a few years ago) and seeing if that doesn't help also. That and coconut oil as I know I have some candida issues going on. Its going to be so hard giving up my coffee though .
