This guy is unqualified and should be called out. (I can really see him, sitting there in grade school eating paste. A kid tells on him and the teacher makes him stop. Then as soon as she is not looking he starts eating it again. When he got older his parents said he had to go to med school and helped pay for it. Another bright thinking "doctor." Sheesh!)

EDITED TO ADD: Additionally, these dummy doctors are not qualified to make psychiatric diagnoses. I worked in mental health for years as a program director and in private practice. I dealt daily with ppl suffering from schizophrenia, bi-polar, and various other illnesses involving delusions and hallucinations. They ALWAYS had at least SOME lucid moments. The very Dx of DOP is faulty. In fact, the only criteria are actions a mentally healthy person would take. (I will add though, that I think left untreated too long this disease will affect the brain. I'm not sure if that is only the Lyme or also the M. But it is attacking our nervous system and since "doctors" like that guy make it impossible to even get examined physically, then it is only obvious in some cases the infection will lead to further problems related to the nervous system.)

Thank you! Fully agree they are not qualified to make psychiatric diagnoses, but hand them out like candy after a 2-minute appointment. I have often wondered which has been worse, living with this horrific nightmare or having Kaiser as your health care provider.

Isn't it ironic? I would have thrown a FIT if a general practitioner had not given each and every new patient a complete physical check. In fact, physical illnesses are included as part of the overall diagnoses you need to get for each person. It is UNETHICAL not to rule out various physical things when making psychiatric diagnoses and creating treatment plans.

In contrast, one of the common patterns when ppl w M are Dx'd w DOP is that the Dr. pulls out one or two cookie cutter Dx's. He/she then squashes the patient into the mold even though it is not a fit, and you get:

Cookie A - scabies, and/or
Cookie B - well, I don't think there is another choice so then you get

Out comes:
Cookie C - DOP

In my case I was labled "crack addict" which would be funny if only this was not a life or death situation needing treatment. (Well, it still is a little funny. )

Even a middle school kid could check the criteria for scabies and compare it to an M patient and see it does not fit. Yet the MD's are not able to do that. Once the permethrin "cure" proves ineffective, the doctor has completed his due dummigence and the case is labeled psychiatric. Maybe it took 5 minutes of his time, and no medical tests other than vitals (no psychiatric evaluation, and of course he is not trained or qualified to do one).

How stunningly lacking in critical thinking skills!!! Of course, some MDs just don't care because they don't make money treating unknowns, and that is their only motivator. Others are misled by the misinformation circulated, as is happening in this case w the dermatologist. But mostly, I think we have a bunch of paste eaters.

I've seen them talking quite a bit, and seen ppl who know them relate things. (At least ppl claiming to be both of the above, but I believe them.)

I could paraphrase what I have heard if you would like, but it is not very encouraging.
