I wonder if it was the lining or the stitching in the jacket and the filler padding in the seats.

I know they LOVE any type of stuffing, filling, padding. LOVE IT!

In fact, if we could go to a coat store together I could show you, any jacket I pick up and run my fingers over.... BAM! Little white things start coming out. The little long wormlike strings. Some of them I think are the actual nematodes, and some seem to be some related fiber product.

I bought one cute pink coat and did not notice until I got home it is filled with BLACK worms. You can see them coming out right through the pink jacket. At first you just see one and it looks like a long black hair (not my color), then you see more and more, then notice them coming out of the lining!!!!! YUK!

What about spraying lysol each time before you sit down? I have leather seats too and I do that sometimes. Also, if you can afford to get it detailed as often as possible, or just keep vacuuming it on your own.

I agree with Fracky it is most likely what is inside. I am actually more comfortable on our leather couches then I was our microfiber fabric couches though. I have seen it in stinching as well. I thru away a winter coat because it made me itch like crazy and the fibers would just surface out of no where. I have no idea what I am going to do about a coat this year I guess I am lucky that I live in Southern California and don't need one most of the time.

Anytime I go to a store I can now recognize infested clothes not only by fibers but other deposits on the clothes.

If you have mold though it will feed on leather. I think I saw something that mentioned diluted alcohol to clean mold off leather.

Cynical, I have the same challenge. I threw away all my clothes. I can't find a coat I can wear because they are all infected. (Well, I found a few that looked good, but they were out of my current price range.)

I look sooo bizarre. I wear only the same couple clothes over and over, and I can't wear shoes - only sandles.

The good news is I live in So Cal too, and somehow I have been managing w no coat.

Oh, and also, just like you I can look at the clothes and see the infections. the bad ones always have the TINY little white specs as well, along w the rest of the party.

Default Me Too

This is a HUGE problem. I have 1 pair of ragged jeans left. All my clothes have been throughmany chemical washes, whick did not help. Once they started getting ragged and falling apart I take a lighter and burn the hanging stuff. Even on any clothes where there are tiny fibers sticking out, I try to burn them.

I jusy bought some polyester-rayon pants from Penneys. They don't look morged up but they are a size too big. I'm keeping them anyway,at least for sleeping in because there aren't PJs I can find out there.

I ordered 2 coats from Burlington coats online for $20. a piece!!. They have poly filling bit the inside and outside can be wiped off. I think it is nylon. One I bought for wearing in the house; I am cold alot, especially when I wake up. The cold I feel then is horriffic. The other wil be for going somewhere min my car. Last year I washed my coat eveeytine I got in my car and not going through that this year.

I am disappointed to hear this abiut Leather. I am planning on getting a leather recliner for myself to sleep in.

I found a product at Menards called "Mold Armor, Mold Blocker". I have used it at hime and when my coats come I will use it n them before wearing. It says it is an invisible barrier to the growth of mold and mildew.
You can find it t check it out at:
WM Barr Online Store

excusetypos, too earlyandIhave anxiety/heebee jeebees; which means I can't type anymore. I tend to wonder if this is what a child who truly has ADD goes through. It is awful and I can't sit here any longer. Bye Bye

Posey,
Burlington Coat Factory is the place I went to in person to buy a coat. There were lots that were $20, but WITHOUT EXCEPTION when I TOUCH or RUB the lining I can see:

1. TINY white specs
2. TINY white longer fibers start to emerge and even "jump" or "hop" in response to me sometimes. I don't know if they hop from some atypical static type of response, but I suspect they are variant of the worm - probably the worm cocooning in the filler stuff.

I did find only a few coats without the contamination but they were high quality and very expensive. Because I've spent all my money on this I could not buy one.

I finally did break down in desperation and get one that did not look too bad from Ross Dress For Less. But sure enough, after wearing it only one day I could see the tiny clear and tiny white fuzzies. After a few days they get longer. I'm sure they are nematodes.

I also bought the cute pink one I mentioned above, but it had the black worms in it.

So, I would suggest being careful about the coats!!!!

As I mentioned, the top of the line hypoallergenic pillow case I bought for myself works WONDERS. I have been told there is bedding made the same way. Maybe you can find some of those. When I can afford it I will try that too.

One more thiing, the only workable coat "help" I have found so far is a 100% nylon windbreaker which I carefully inspected before buying and continually wash in scalding hot water. (It has no padding or lining.)

Hey Fracty,

Did you buy that at Burlington? We have one in town here. Does it actually break the wind?

I've bought 2 of the nylon Stearns windbreakers at Walmart in the hunting/fishing department. No padding, they have a hood, and say waterproof/breathable. They have never been a problem.
