I've been having a horrible short term memory for a while now. I've been getting the itching crawling sensations. I'm usually really itchy. And also it's really difficult to get comfortable at night. I've been getting a few red bumps here and there too. I have no fibers, but I think I may have granules. What exactly do they look like? If I do, they're only in my hair. Please help me figure this out...

Oh, and I've read of people getting black spots, and I have them in one of my nipples. I didn't know what they were and got one out with tweezers, (there are about 6) What came out was almost a tar-like substance. After about 3 days, it came right back.

I've been losing my hair too. I'll get into the shower, shampoo and condition, and when I'm rinsing the conditioner out, I'll collect a good sized lock of hair by the time it's rinsed. I brush and after every time, i have to take a broom and sweep the whole bathroom floor. I don't use too many hair products. (i stopped because maybe it was hair damage) I straighten it every now and then, (maybe once every two weeks) and I use gel maybe once a week, if that. I dont dye it much at all either. Its very rare.

| Hi Bunnicula, Welcome to MDR! certainly what you've mentioned fits morgellons. The granules can look abit like salt granules and also white/clear flakes in hair are often reported too as well as tiny spheres that may look abit like dandruff. Maybe get a flash torch and hold it to your hair in a mirror - this should tell you more. The filaments often look like carpet lint. Checking any black surfaces in your home may give you further clues on this. Start some treatments and see if you notice any other signs... Morgellons UK - Awareness Campaign 2009 - Morgellons Disease - Support: Skin Cleansing Here's a detailed list of symptoms to check with: Morgellons UK - Awareness Campaign 2009 - Morgellon Disease: Symptoms We are here for you either way, so don't panic! Jo - just seen you're last post - start on some supplements to help stop hair loss. Drink green tea to help restore memory. Also put salt in your shampoo. | Thank you for the links. I just checked out the symptoms, and of them I have the following. * Itchy scalp and skin (always on skin, I'm not a hairy person, but the scalp is only when I get out of the shower.) * Sensation of crawling on skin and in ears ( not really in ears) * Insect-like 'bites' and stinging sensations on skin (yes) * Skin rash, (One. a few days ago, I developed a small patch on my calf, and no amount of lotion has been able to get rid of it) * Small ‘blood spots' on skin (only one that I can see. ) * Burning sensation on skin or feeling of very small pin pricks (Yes) * Black specs coming out of skin pores (are they the tar-like substance as aforementioned?) * Skin lesions, sores, pimples or spots - that heal slowly (On my hand and fingers. About 3 total) * Hair loss on scalp, eye brows, eye lashes (only on scalp) * Ingrowing hairs and black roots on infected hairs (Yes. Very common on thighs) * Scalp hair irritating skin when wet and highly static when dry (yes!) Digestive system * Irritable bowel * Malabsorption * Constipation or loose bowels * Rumbling stomach Musculoskeletal system: * Inflammed, aching and stiff joints (fingers, elbows, hips, knees) (I've had that for the past year. Has been increasing to the point where I cant stand up for more than 20 minutes(Still)) Central Nervous system: * Numb fingers and/or toes (peripheral neuropathy) * Short-term memory loss * Racing thoughts * Insomnia * Brain fog - (eg. problems with finding words) * Fatigue and lack of concentration Urinary system: * Bladder weakness Eyes, ears, nose and throat: * Increased saliva Psychological: * Increased irritability and decreasing patience |

ok - thats helpful doing that list. well, I think its time you kicked your symptoms into touch! Massage vinegar (any) on your scalp after shampoo. Then use good quality conditioner. Put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spray your brushes etc after use too. From what we've seen, many people probably have morgellons, but are symptom-less, or don't have the itchy skin part that causes much of the initial concern. Major on the salt treatments etc and don't cut yourself off from normal life. But do find someone you can confide in, that you can trust k?. Jo

Hi Bunni, welcome to the forum... you can just do a search on whatever topic you're interested in and find some answers here... We don't know for sure, if it's contagious or not... just use good hygiene practices and keep your environment as clean as possible. There's some nice folks here to help.

Oh dear! Be careful... in how you phrase things... so many of us have alienated our families and loved ones from our lives by being truthful. We just don't know much about Morgellons yet, the medical/scientists/CDC have been slow in responding to our disease. Tell them that it appears to be related to Lymes Disease... that's a good place to start. And, maybe end with - it's being presently researched by the CDC, noone knows exactly what it is at this time? And, it doesn't appear to be contagious or the CDC would have acted faster or said so by now? ![]() You will find that anyone who hasn't had the "M" experience, it is hard for them to understand what it is you're going through and so much of it sounds like a "B" Grade science fiction movie, and they can't possibly understand... telling them the truth - scares them and ends up putting you in a 'bad light'... the best thing to do is to go into the 'gory' details with your 'other family' members out here... we've heard it all... and btw - welcome to the family. And, try to live as 'normal' a life as possible. Last edited by Kammy; December 6th, 2009 at 05:24 PM.
