i am going to my home island in the caribbean in one month. i am planning on seeing a very dependable, trustworthy doctor there. i can pretty much start from scratch with him and tell him anything i want as to whats been found by doctors here and what tests i need run. i will say i am seeking treatment there instead of here because its a fraction of the cost---i will not mention i have insurance but no doctor will see me for this lol i need help figuring out what to ask for....what tests should be run? what should he be looking at? note: being that its in the west indies, parasites, funguses and the like are extremely common and, unlike in the u.s., doctors go above and beyond to find and treat them because they are simply used to them being a nuisance (kind of like the difference between american MD's and veterinarians when it comes to knowledge of parasites and the like). what do i do? what do i say? what do i need? i am sort of lost. if you could go to a doctor and have them analyze and test anything you wanted...what would you ask them to do?

Well, you could ask for doppler ultrasound on your skin...to see if any critters are visible in the layers below (checking for unusual myiasis). Also scrapings and cultures on any infected skin areas for fungus and bacterias such as S aureus. Serum type tests to consider: Borrelia Heavy metals C reactive protein Globulin (and other signs of downregulated immune cells) Ammonia Amino acid deficiency All the best Jo

| I would add to the above- Babesia and Theileria parva if they have a test for humans for T parva. Wish you the best- sounds as though you will have a better experience than most with your doctor. -V- PS Nematodes come with the territory with Lyme disease but it couldn't hurt to ask about them? Hookworms? Tapeworms?

Hi Morgylady! I would suggest you also get your blood tested for Eosinophilia Titers. It shows ab norm high levels with parasitic infections. Eosinophilia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Good luck and Bon Voyage! Kat

these suggestions are great. i actually think i am also going to tell him my doc was leaning towards micromyiasis/onchoceriasis as i have a multitude of worms living inside me. i wish there was an easy solution or answer for this.... part of me is thinking i shouldnt even bother. what do you think? am i crazy? i figure all they could give me is some toxic kidney/liver killing antiparasitical or anthelmintic...probably better off sticking to my garlic. im starting to feel sort of hopeless..
