I receive Kim Komando's newsletters and this was in one of them as the "Cool Site of The Day". I don't kow anything about pixels, megapixels and cameras but this is a part of one of Kim's newsletters and it just struck me that it may be of interest to someone here who is telescoping, microscoping and/or whatever else is done along this line.
Close-ups to blow your mind
It isn't uncommon to see digital cameras with 12-megapixel or larger sensors. And ultra-high-end cameras can achieve 60-megapixel shots.
That's impressive. But it doesn't hold a candle to gigapixel photography. As the name suggests, a gigapixel photograph has about one billion pixels.
Gigapixel images are created by stitching hundreds of photographs together. The resulting panoramas are breathtaking! You can even zoom in on minute details in the photographs.
Gigapixel photography is typically used with wide, expansive subjects. You'll see plenty of landscapes and cityscapes.
However, one innovative photographer has done the unexpected. She has combined gigapixel photography and microscopic imaging. The results are stunning.
Today's Cool Site has more than two dozen of her photos. Click the images. They'll open in the GigaPan viewer. >From there, zoom in on portions of the photos.
Prepare to be amazed!
