| . LymeBusters - Injured biotech worker (more on the LB thread above with her video explaining her accident) Her video Link: View video and here: Labor Video Project More information here: California Coalition for Workers Memorial Day --------------------------------------------------------------------------- RE: Lymebusters/Morgellons From: Becky McClain Sent: Mon 8/17/09 10:49 AM To: Kmarie Dear Karen, Thank you for contacting me and letting me know that your Lymebuster’s group has viewed my video. I am at awe at all the responses from watching the video. I am not a polished speaker, so I am glad it is striking home a message in some people regarding the public health and safety threats in biotechnology. I have been very interested in Morgellons for quite some time. I have been on the look out for any new emerging disease since I know that biotechnology can be the source of such new illness. When I found out that thousands of people in the United States have come down with this “strange” new debilitating illness called Morgellon’s that looked like some nano-biotech creation, I was aghast. And THEN when I discovered that the medical elite had ( in my humble opinion) grossly and purposely mis-labeled it as parasitic psychosis and in fact are teaching this diagnosis in medical schools, I thought this to be a ploy to keep this new emerging disease from the public’s eye. And apparently I am correct since many of you remain abandoned with little healthcare, little research help, little media attention and little hope to raise public awareness about the Morgellon plight and the public health and safety concerns that it renders. My husband who is an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service has been trying his hardest to raise awareness within the government about my issue, Morgellon’s, Lyme and public health and safety issues associated with biotechnology. He has not been successful. Ironically, he is deployed this week to Virginia to practice disaster training to counter biological threats. It appears that the government understands the current threats and are preparing for it, but at the same time are ignoring the public’s pleas for help and alarm regarding new emerging disease and threats that biotechnology impose on the public. My husband called me yesterday and spoke to someone from an NIH new emerging disease lab while in the airport. The NIH scientist specifically said that Morgellon’s patients will not be reviewed at NIH because the CDC is investigating it. And now today I receive your email and just yesterday I received a letter from Jennifer Miracle from your group. In it her letter describes the plight of Morgellons patients. How coincidental. I will help your group as much as I am able. But without a laboratory there is little I can do scientifically. My assumption is that most of you or some of you have done sufficient literature research already. I see some of it in Jennifer’s letter in fact. For myself, I have done little journal review on Morgellon’s because I am still involved with my own legal and medical plight which takes much of my time. Despite that fact, I will gladly lend any help to you that I can give. I have a feeling, however, that your group will have more answers for me than I can give to you. I understand COMPLETELY what the Morgellon’s community is going through. I find it very distressing that you have been essentially abandoned and labeled psychotic. What an abuse. I hope you somehow and somewhere get help and that light is shed on how Morgellon’s emerged. It is encouraging that the CDC is investigating Morgellons. But are they being transparent in providing the Morgellon’s community and the public the results? That is the million dollar question, isn’t it? I am very busy for the next few days with a project I am working on. But please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you. I will try to get back to you, but it might not be right away since I am juggling a lot. Take care and thank you for contacting me. My best wishes to you and all who continue to battle…. Yours truly, Becky McClain ( Some personal information has been removed until I have her permission to post ) . Last edited by kmar; August 20th, 2009 at 11:28 AM. |

| I have also sent Becky a short email last week- asking for her help. Thanks for posting! Heard back from her today and she said that she has a lot on her plate right now- but when her current project is complete she will turn her attention to this condition. Good news! -V- Last edited by Venetia; August 17th, 2009 at 03:19 PM. |

| I truly hope this thread gets the attention it deserves. There are so many posts lately dealing with who's right, whose feelings get hurt, who knows more than anyone else, that when something significant comes along it hardly gets noticed. OK - here is my opinion. We have NOT solved this. No one on this forum has the scientific foundation to work it all the way through. Maybe we stumble on bits and pieces, but I think if this gets solved before I'm dead it will take real scientists to do it. Sorry, I know that is not a popular position, but I am as entitled to say that as anyone else is to say they've got it figured out. And there are many - not just the recent posts, but going back as long as I have been around. We need these people. If anyone had really figured it out we'd be putting this nightmare behind us and getting on with what is left of our lives. SS |

| I so agree with your post, not only this part, but certainly especially this part and especially this: "No one on this forum has the scientific foundation to work it all the way through." Thanks for having the courage to post this opinion:

| I also have great hopes that Becky McClain will look at Morgellons and the best place for her to start, IMO, is with the work of Robert Smith. He gave IDs that are easy to confirm/verify and if those IDs can be duplicated then we know. His IDs contain ATCC #s. Those ATCC #s are what should have been used right along- they tie to other known contaminants in the environment- such as the MTBE and the remediation products-of which, as I have stated, PM 1 contains the Agrobacterium Ti. The Theileria parva, while there was no # for that component- is what it is and that is most likely the Key to Morgellons. Certainly the Key for the cyst/callus that so many confirm that they have on their skin and a host of symptoms that are common to sufferers. Other than that...... I can tell you haven't read about T parva or you wouldn't be making statements such as it is not 'solved'. Why those specimens were shipped to OSU and not processed is no surprise, given the multi-year runaround we have been subjected to. As to confirmation- we already have Dr James Schaller with ties to the T parva as a confirmation but the ideal would be to confirm all of Robert Smiths' work. I'm sure that she will look at Kammy/Katinka work Kritters. -V- Last edited by Venetia; August 17th, 2009 at 09:53 PM. |

| This is an example of what Becky was discussing in her video: ![]() Abstract: Kristen Kulinowski, a Faculty Fellow in Chemistry at Rice University and director of the International Council on Nanotechnology (ICON), is available to discuss a new paper that purports to show nanoparticles played a role in the deaths of two workers in China. Rice nanotechnology expert available to discuss deaths reported in China Houston, TX | Posted on August 17th, 2009 The paper to be published by the European Respiratory Journal this week examines the case of seven female workers, ages 18-47, who were exposed for up to 13 months to nanoparticles in a polyacrylate material air-sprayed onto polystyrene. All suffered shortness of breath and pleural effusions, an excess of fluid in the pleural cavity that surrounds the lungs, and were admitted to hospitals where examinations revealed nanoparticles in chest fluid and lodged in cells. The women who died were 19 and 29. "The real tragedy is that these workers could have been protected if a conventional chemical hygiene plan that included a working ventilation system and personal protective equipment had been available," said Kulinowski. "Preventing inhalation of 30-nm nanoparticles can be as simple as the proper use of an inexpensive mask sold by your neighborhood home-improvement store. But even this basic protective measure was not employed in this workplace." As director of the Rice-based ICON, Kulinowski spearheaded the GoodNanoGuide, an open-source wiki on the safe handling of nanomaterials introduced earlier this year. It can be found at www.GoodNanoGuide.org. Kulinowski may be reached at kk@rice.edu or 713-348-8211. The International Council on Nanotechnology (ICON) is an international, multi-stakeholder organization based at Rice University. Our mission is to develop and communicate information regarding potential environmental and health risks of nanotechnology thereby fostering risk reduction while maximizing societal benefit. The council has evolved into a network of scholars, industrialists, government officials and public interest advocates who share information and perspectives on a broad range of issues at the intersection of nanotechnology and environment, health and safety. We maintain a public portal for information on nanomaterial environment, health and safety (EHS) at icon.rice.edu. #### For more information, please click hereContacts: David Ruth Associate Director National Media Relations Rice University Direct: 713-348-6327 Cell: 612-702-9473 druth@rice.edu Log In | Facebook Twitter: @davidruth Copyright © Rice University If you have a comment, please Contact us. | I think Rice has been modified for years . Do you remember it used to take over half an hour to cook and the water was white with starch . Now it takes 10 minutes at the most, even the supposedly organic stuff has been messed with. |
