I have been infested by collembola for 2 yrs. and from this infestation I have gotten a lot of other things like bacterial infections, fungal infections and worms. I have seen them under magnifier and have ID them from pics off the web. The glue I believe is their protective armor so to speak and also their way of staying on your body. READ ON: Sweden: p.1823: "The female patient, a 60-year-old married housewife had been suffering for two years from a 'nervous disorder.' She had consulted various physicians, including dermatologists. However, none were able to determine the cause of the medical problem, which manifested itself as a weak, although, annoying itching, and considered being of a nervous type. In the end, the patient herself managed to detect the culprit, which resided in the genitals and anus, organs that are difficult to access. ... Initially, the patient believed that the creatures causing her discomfort were lice. They caused irritation, especially at night. They crawled out of their hiding-places. She vaguely felt how she was being 'stung' by these creatures, leaving small red pricks on the skin of her torso all the way up to the arms. ... the springtails were present in the bathroom, crawling on the walls, on the damp floor, in the drain, and the toilet. 'Especially, the toilet brush was teeming with these parasites.' p.1826: "... In analogy with the scientific names of diseases caused by insects such as Myiasis or Phthiriasis, I suggest the name Siracis for the illness caused by Sira[sic], as discussed in detail above. " Hunter, G.W., Frye, W.W. & Schwartzwelder, J.C. (1960) cited from Scott, H.G., Wiseman, J.S. & Stojanovich, C.J. (1962:430) Nearctic: "Entomobrya nivalis (cosmopolitan) and Entomobrya tenuicauda (Australasian) have been reported as causing a pruritic dermatitis in man." Cited from Dasgupta, R. & Dasgupta, B. (1990:43 :"...some of these insects may be parasitic, causing pruritic dermatitis in man." Some food for thought. Now I am going to find the paper that talks about how they have ability to glue down.

What is myiasis? Abstract Dermatobia hominis, the botfly, is indigenous to Central and South America. Its usual host is a mammal, often a horse or cow. Cutaneous furuncular myiasis, human infestation by the botfly, has rarely been reported. Symptoms of infestation include a locally painful, firm furuncular lesion, often with a centrally located pore. Due to their infrequent occurrence, these lesions are often misdiagnosed as cellulitis, leishmaniasis, furunculosis, staphylococcal boil, insect bite or sebaceous cyst – conditions with similar presentations. The present case reiterates the need to think of ‘zebras’ when hearing ‘hoof beats’ that may have originated in a different land. Keywords: Botfly, Furuncular myiasis, Sebaceous cyst What is Phthiriasis? It is basically lice! Last edited by mmarsha; July 16th, 2009 at 05:26 AM.

Mmarsha, Very sorry to hear you have a collembola problem. Have you had any identified from a professional? What area do you live? (seems region may be part of the reason) Those who have those collembolal "SYMPTOMS" surely have a most dreadful symptom. Fortunately it is a rare morgellons symptom and is not very common. Most morgellons sufferers do not complain of collembola. I do think the area where you live has to do with the problem. What have you tried for treatment? I'd be more concerned with the loose DNA any insect is picking up out there in the environment and soil. From what I've been reading, insectst TODAY transmit so many disease moreso than they did in the past. Even a mosquitoe bite today can be more dangerous than in the yester-years. Lyme/Borrelia seems to be common among Morgellon sufferers. ( I believe the number is over 95%! ) Please get tested as it is transmited by insects and "undertreated". Some people remanin asymptomatic with Lyme/Borrelia only to find out they are infected after giving birth to a child with Autism. They are learning that 90% or more of Austic children are born with Lyme/borrelia and then the mother get tested to find out she has Lyme too! The infestation can be so disturbing and that is not morgellons or we would all have collembola problems. OF MOST importance is to check out any diseases the insects can carry and request to be tested. (especially for Lyme/Borrelia) They have found Lyme/borrelia spirochete bacteria INSIDE of other insects other than ticks. Please check to see if your have any Lyme/Borrelia infection and treat that. And if you can, take antifungals (if your doctor will prescribe), insects are attracted to various phermones/smell/odors. Change your body/diet/chemistry and the collembola should leave. ![]() Last edited by kmar; July 17th, 2009 at 08:44 AM.

About Collembolas...wasn't DE suggested to sprinkle around house too? I would use it everywhere...sprinkle on carpet...use it to clean bathroom (sprinkle in corners where they like to hide)....and dilute it in water ...use a spray bottle to clean surfaces....JMO... Kat

Andrew, (just lost my whole post to you when I googled myiasis ;-(....) I look forward to our Jo's research on myiasis. She's almost finished. Does your girlfriend live where there are ticks, mosquitos, fleas, gnats, flies (all sources of Lyme)..... As our friends above stated, there is a relationship between Lyme and Morgellons. And I believe fungus is included if not the actual key player itself. There are so many great researchers here and what is being brought to our table I think will help us get to the bottom of all this. Kritters

I too in the beginning after having the head lice I had the collumbola as well. Nasty devils. In the winter I opened the windows (they are called snow fleas as well as collumbola because they like cold temps outside) and some of them left. I have some other things to try. I rid myself of them doing treatment baths. Salt peroxide baths: In a FULL bath (run as hot as you like) use the following: 3-4 bottles 12 oz hydrogen peroxide 3 canisters table salt 1-2 boxes baking soda. Dawn dish detergent kills fleas. My cat Cali was a young kitten infested with them. As she was too young to use poison or collars I called the vet and asked what they used for young animals who had fleas. They said they used Dawn dish detergent. So I washed her with Dawn let it sit on her a moment then rinsed her well and all the fleas eggs what not were all DEAD. She had no more fleas. Please note Dawn just NOT treat Morgellons Disease but it DOES kill fleas. Palmolive Oxy dish soap the blue or the green kind in most cases kills Morgellons Disease. I still use it in the shower or as a bubblebath. Johnson's foot soap is EXCELLENT as a treatment bath. I recommend two packets for a treatment bath. WHY? Beacuse borax kills Morgellons Disease AND insects too! Here is a link to show this product: Buy Johnson's Foot Soap Foot Soap, Packets Online at drugstore.com . You might also find this article interesting reading about collumbola and man. Morgellons and More Cases of Collembola Infesting Man: Morgellons and More Cases of Collembola Infesting Man Morgellons – A Mundane Approach . I hope some of this information is helpful. I used to have them too. You can also look at the National Pediculosis Society they have much information about Collumbola infestation. Here is some material from them regarding Collumbola: http://www.headlice.org/report/research/index.html To those of you who have not had a collumbola problem you are LUCKY. There ARE a percentage of Morgellons Suffers who DO have this problem. (LC) Last edited by ladycolorado; July 19th, 2009 at 09:54 AM.

| Collembola is the single largest keyword that brings people to my blog. More people find my blog by looking for Collembola infestations of the skin in humans than do people actually searching for Morgellons. Collembola infestations are not rare in Morgellons patients. Even the study done by the folks in Oklahoma when mentioned by wikipedia claims the doctors involved in the study suffered from Hallicunations (basically), there is an effort to dismiss human infestation collembola because they are responsible for most DOP diagnosis but it's soon going to come to light.
