| Last night I received a phone call from my dad at 2 am. He never calls that late, I knew something was terribly wrong. The story that he told me has brought me here searching for answers. He proceeded to tell me that he could feel and see bugs crawling beneath his skin. He said that they were biting him and leaving black "spikes" that come out of his skin. He said the spikes looked like black strings when I questioned him about them. He said that he had gone to 3 doctors and he had even brought a bag of stuff he extracted from his skin. The doctor he brought the bag to promptly threw it in the wastebasket. One doctor grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him, and asked him if he had taken some bad street drugs. My dad does not do street drugs. He is not a conspiracy theorist. He does not listen to Art Bell. He does not even go on the internet. There was no "seed" planted in his head about Morgellons. He is not a hypochondriac. I never once questioned his credibility. He has never been one to complain, and he has had some very difficult times with his health due to a serious car accident some years ago. Believe me, he is not looking for additional imaginary health woes, he already has had his share of real ones. He is just a regular guy. He likes to fish. He recently came back from a fishing trip in the Florida Everglades. Shortly after his symptoms started, from what I understand. I thought that was strange because when I looked at the MRF website, it indicated that the highest number of reported cases are in Texas, California and Florida. Less than 24 hours later, my dad's mood has improved. He said that he added a quart of epsom salt to his bath and drew actual bugs out from his skin. He is keeping them in vials. He said it hurt very badly to soak in the salts because his skin is covered with open wounds. However, he is feeling relief right now and says he can't feel them crawling around. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Feedback appreciated. He also said he drew out the strings and egg sacs. I hadn't read anything about egg sacs anywhere else, but my dad is very convinced that that is what he saw. He is feeling relief today but I am not going to stop gathering information in case his relief is short lived. This whole situation blows my mind. As if the symptoms are not strange enough, the reaction from the medical community is also outrageous and bizarre! Why has he been immediately accused of being delusional? He has no history of mental illness. I am very interested in learning from others. Any insights that you would like to share with me are appreciated. Could this be Morgellons? Those of you out there who suffer, have you extracted actual bugs from your skin? My dad has and I don't know if this could be Morgellons or something else. The reason I think it sounds like Morgellons is because of his description of the "spikes", as he called them. He did not call them "fibers". I am very concerned for him and can't stop thinking about this. I would like to make contact with people willing to talk to me so I can pass the info along to dad. Hopefully I can get my dad on the computer and to this site, if this is an active message board and I feel it will help him. I have posted this on another forum but no one has viewed it or responded, don't this it's a very active site. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading. Please let me know what your opinion is about my dad's story. |

| Dear Mink - First, God Bless you!! You are a wonderful daughter (I think a daughter!) I must say that your father's experiences are almost boiler plate for Morgellons. I am thinking that he might have done some research on his own, as I would never have thought to use epsom salts if someone hadn't told me to. Regardless, your father will definitely need some support. If you would like to talk on the phone, PM me and I can call you. I have free long distance. (I live in FL). I will say that it is wonderful that your father found something to bring him relief. He will very likely have to repeat the procedure many times and do other things as well. As far as the medical community - it is DISGUSTING that they are so quick to write someone off who has no history of mental illness without even taking a look. It is one of the bigger sources of agony that results from Morgellons. SS |

| it has been my experience with dr's that they do not care any wich way i'm on medicaid and with various illness and evertime i mention it i get the look [morgellon sufferes know that look]they say [go home and take a bath] i say i shower ever day well try takeing a bath i'm told and then what dr? you should be fine they say[lol].[in a nut shell verry few dr's will even say the word morgellons and even fewer will treat you for it. look to a different source of reliefe. [morgellons has not been clasifed as a disease yet so any meds would be expermintal do not look for insurance to pay] at least in my experience. |

| I appreciate your responses very much and I am very glad to have made contact with an active community. What a relief. Thank goodness for the internet. I've been reading about Morgellons for two days. It has been mind bending. Something very interesting to me--the response from the general community and regular folks (at least on the internet) seems overwhelmingly positive, compassionate and open-minded. Seems the doctors are the cruel ones. I just think that they find it a lot easier to say "You're crazy!" as opposed to saying "I don't know." I hope to be in nursing school soon and I often visit a networking website for nurses. The nurses discussing this on the site (allnurses.com) seemed to overwhelmingly support the idea that this is an emerging disease and not delusional psychosis. Why are the nurses able to say that but not the doctors? The doctors are full of fear. They are worried that they will damage their reputations and be called "quacks". They are only thinking of themselves and not the good of their patients. I have worked with doctors in the past, you can never openly disagree with anything they say or do. My father was so happy yesterday after his salty soak, I am anxiously awaiting a progress report. I am hoping for the best (miraculous recovery) and preparing for the worst (a disappointed and bugged out dad). SS, should my dad's condition not be improved, I will most definitely take you up on your gracious offer. Many sincere thanks to you, friend. And yes, I am a daughter. We certainly could use a support person and I really very much appreciate it. BTW, my dad said he pulled out a six legged bug. Any thoughts on that? Or any thoughts on the egg sacs? My dad kept the bug, but so far I am scared to go see it. My dad also thinks he is contagious. What precautions should I take when I visit? Last edited by mink; May 16th, 2009 at 08:29 PM. | Hello, Welcome on board, mink. Since your dad is at the starting stage of the disease, I suggest you to advise him to have his intestine cleansed at a near by health center. Let him also observe the kind of things that leaves his stomach during this time. I understand it helps very much at the onset of the disease. Let him continue with his epsom salt bath, I do not think it has any side effects. If he has dandruff, he should use some shampoo which can clear it. He has to keep his hair and scalp clean of any kind of yeast/fungal infection. It is very very essential. For some time, he should take only home cooked food and should not take any raw food or outside food, till his health improves. Even he should drink only water after boiling. He also should not take any GM food like Corn, Soya etc., or any food product derived from them, as an agrobacterium is supposed to be behind this disease. He should use some standard mosquitto repellent while sleeping to avoid any kind of insect bites during sleep. You can find many simple natural remedies from this site. Avoid using some remedies like silver which are reported to have known side effects with kidney/liver etc.. With regards, Yours B |

| Hi mink, I'm not going to argue with bharathyeju's opinion, but many of us have used silver (I use colloidal silver topically) and have had wonderful results. I would avoid any bug repellent that contains toxic ingredients! I use "bug-arrest". It contains no chemical, is enzyme based and has no pesticides. Ingredients: botanical soap, comprised of pure water, amino acids, enzymes, minerals & other ingredients derived from leafy green, edible and seed-bearing plants. Call your local pet stores to see if they carry bug arrest. It cost around $35/gal and you dilute it 1 oz in 16 oz of water. It does kill the "Morgellons" fibers. I spray it all over my house, porches, car, clothes, on me, etc., let it evaporate. On the six legged bug.. this "M" is a transgenetic nematode that can morph into anything. Welcome mink, I hope you can find some answers here. I would stay away from any mosquito repellents. Chemicals are a big trigger to "M" response. In the white light, ~jonsi

| Hello, I fully agree with Jonsi, always stay awaye from chemicals and any disputed products, especially when it comes to taking internally. What I wrote about silver products is not my opinion, it is from what I read from different sites including this FORUM. Any product with pssible side effects should be presribed only by a doctor after assessing the patient's condition and should not be based on its working with some individuals. With regards, Yours B |

| Mink - There are a lot of different views on so much about this "thing", including whether or not it is contagious. I've heard very strong evidence in BOTH directions!! I would suggest you meet him in a public place, if only for your peace of mind. My own opinion is that there may forms OR stages where this can be contagious from person to person, or from being in someone's home who has it. Most of the time that is not the case. B is absolutely correct about cleaning the GI tract, and keeping it that way. There will be other things that need to be done - and that bath you describe is a good one - but unless the colon is kept "clear" Morgellons will continue to regenerate, and his skin will never "clear".
