So far it doesn't look to be very contagious, thankfully. But you never know until a formal study is done. But most people who are infected have managed not to infect others including family members, which is a very good sign.

I live in Florida and* have had it for over 6 years and just got to put a name to it... i do not think it spreads to easily because no one else in my family or anyone else i know have any symptoms... it just makes me mad that all these years my doctor has been telling me that it is acne and i kept saying no no no look at them... they have stages, i scar in the end... but he concluded, that when* i pierced my spinal cord, maybe the surgeon crossed some nerves and i accepted the answer until we tried antibiotics and they would go away for awhile but they had a lot of side affects so he stopped them for long term use... well i think with what new information i have i will be making some calls and sending some letters...

I am new to this site as I first heard about Morgellons this evening from a Primetime program on ABC called Medical Mysteries. According to that program it does spread. they interviewed a few families wherein one person in the family got it and it spread to the whole family. I live in Southern California California and also have Fibromyalgia. I thought all these new symptoms that I have been experiencing (not all at the same time) were due to my FM until I saw this program tonight. I could just cry!!

You might log onto abcnews.com and see if there is anything there from tonight's show. I have not looked yet, as I logged in directly to this site directly. Seems I now have something else to educate myself on.

If it turns out it is easily spread, that is very bad news. Considering the medical community laughing at the notion of morgellons, a lot more people will be infected until something is done.

Besides treatment, the medical community has to find out how this spreads before it gets out of hand.

But other families they interviewed only one member of the family has it. I haven't gotten it nor have our 4 children. They don't know. The CDC just now finally took people serious and started looking into it this year. No one knows.

There has to be a reason, environmental or genetics why some people in a household get it and others not.
