Default Let's Ask Oprah!

I was just on Oprah's website and noticed a section requesting ideas for her
show. Of course, I emailed about doing a show on Morgellons and then thought, what if each one of usemailed her -- and she got HUNDREDS of people asking for it?

I know it may be a long shot, but definitinely worth a try. Afterall, no other
place on the planet could give us greater exposure than Oprah. Please, please visit the page below andsend in a request for a show on Morgellons. I'm going to post this on several message boards to increase our chances. Thanks everyone!

Thanks, maryok, I'll consider this. I would think we would definitely be of interest to her.

This is actually a very good suggestion, I have heard of others recommending other shows as well such as Dr Phil. That is not the real problem. The problem is that Morgellons is such a polarizing disease, many would be to scared or ashamed to be guests on such a program. To have a program like this, a few people with the disease would have to show up. But this defiantly would bring much needed media attention to morgellons.

Hey Franky, good point! But I'd be there in a heartbeat if it meant getting help for us -- and I'm sure many, many others here would volunteer as well. But I really think a huge volume of emails is key -- so I've posted this on 3 message boards. Thanks so much!

Sounds good, I will be sending in my email. You know someone who I see once in a while who may be good as well is Montel. He seems very receptive to new or strange diseases and conditions.

Franky, can you get Montel's contact info? Maybe we could create a whole grass roots thing and bard as many media outlets as possible -- kind of like we've done with the CDC? (Uh, CDC's probably not a good example....)

I was on the yahoo group for one day, about a week ago...and someone there said Dr.Phil was doing a show called "Has a medical problem caused problems with your family?", and the person had wrote in to do it, but they changed her mind because they said that since he is a psychiatrist, he more than likely would go with the DOP, and it could do more harm than good...that is probably true...yeah, I think Montel would also do a good job with it, too...especially since he has had to deal with having MS...which has a lot of symptoms similar to this and to Fibromyalgia, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome...I read a post on Dr. Schwartz's website, that said that a lady had been diagnosed with MS, and wanted to know how to tell her doctors that she had Morgellon's instead...

I will write a letter, too...and I think if they do a show, that just as long as they get someone that would be able to explain things well for our case, it would be good...if not, could look like we are full of crap...

Of course, if they also got Dr. Harvey or Dr. Karjoo or someone that is a medical expert, it would be great...I doubt either would miss the Oprah show...heck, I wouldn't miss it for the world...I love Oprah!!!

I edited this because I said Dr. Karjoo's website, and that was an error, and I believe it was Dr. Schwartz's message board on his website.

First of all, I love you guys, so please understand what I am saying. I think that given these shows' sensational aspects that there is a a real chance of being dismissed as DOP. The more dramatic our individual symptoms of disease, the more likely we'll be featured, the more likely we'll get the gong.

There's a scene in the film "Bugsy" when he (Warren Beatty) says to Meyer Lansky
(Ben Kingsley) that he's going to Italy in WW2 to kill el duce before he starts the casino in Vegas. Although Siegel means it with all sincerity, he's told that if he says that to anyone that he'll never be taken seriously again.

If we can get Dr.Harvey or the OK State team or others-cool. But if it's just a victim, I worry.

All I'm saying is that we have much to lose when they select the wrong poster boy/girl. And they will select the most sensational, with the weirdest theories and most crippling defects--and the easiest to discredit.

I'd rather see this on Nova or Discovery channel. In this instance, remember the CDC in the AIDS onset (ever see "And the Band Played On"?). When it was a "fringe" (re: gay/sensational/ not me but only them) disease, they sat on their hands.

That said, I encourage everyone to do what their conscience dictates. I'll be the first to thank you if indeed any of these gives us a fair shot and if anything gets done.

Again, I love you guys and this is only my .02.
