Default Disappearing flying things.

I keep seeing what appears to be a black houseflysized object which darts across my periphery and disappears in full flight. Anyone else see these?

I see exactly this a lot Mat .Kritts I always get floaters but this doesn't seem to be the same . A lot more solid and it moves too quick.

Default Syria

Mat,

My husbands job took us to Homs, Syria many years ago. We lived there for many months. It is incredibly hot, over 110 degress during the day and the air pollution from the refinery was terrible. There was very little good quality food to eat, and it was very, very limited.

After several months, both my husband and I kept seeing dark "things" move in our peripheral vision., which sounds like what you are describing. We did not know what to think of what we saw. But when I would see it, my husband would not. At first it wasn't often, maybe one a day. Then as time went on, we would see if very often, on both sides.

It was not until we returned to the US that the doctor told us we were severely deficient in several B-vitamins.

B vitamins are water soluble and we sweat alot due to the temperature, and like I said, food was very limited so we were very deficient in probably lots of things.

Nutrition is so important!

DL.....
Are you suggesting a deficiency in B vitamins causes people to hallucinate that they are seeing things fly in front of them?

Default Detox of Sulfation

Below is a condensed Book written by Sherry A Rodgers. She explains the detox system. This detox process is called sulfation. Just like the rotten smell from sulfur pits in Yellowstone Park, when you body goes into high gear sulfating constantly, you give off a smell that attracts insects. You've all noticed that fruit flies follow you. Naturally. You've also noticed probably, that dogs that are aflicted with this smell terrible. That is the detox system going way overtime. As a result, you become severely deficient in these nutrients and proteins that work this system.

I purchased a netting called Knat Hat for over my head because bugs kept trying to fly into my eyes. When I went camping, swarms of bugs would follow me and not my relatives. I would coat myself with Off, but I was still overwhelmed with BUGS. I kept compaining, but everyone just made jokes about it.

However, what Mat is describing, is your mind playing tricks on you. Various parts of your brain are accumulating excess copper. It is low in iron, known to work your memory and throughts. You are getting lower and lower in the B vitamins that regulate your nerves. It's no wonder you see these dark areas in your vision at times!

Detoxify or Die by Sherry A. Rogers, M.D.

You have heard of the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal system, even the immune system. But they are all paralyzed if the detoxification system is not functioning. Although the detoxification system is the most underrated of all the systems taught about in medical schools, its function determines the presence or absence of disease in every other system of the body. Detoxification is clearly the primary determinant of disease. So let's learn more about this beautifully orchestrated biochemistry which is arbitrarily divided by scientists into two phases, phase I and phase II.

In Phase I, the detox chemistry merely moves electrons around. This shifting of electrons through a variety of choices (oxidation, reduction, hydrolysis) prepares an anchor site for Phase II. One important enzyme in phase I is alcohol dehydrogenase which requires a molecule of zinc to function perfectly. The next step often uses the enzyme aldehyde oxidase, which requires a molecule of the mineral molybdenum for perfect function. Right away you can see that if your diet is low in either of these minerals, you may not properly metabolize environmental chemicals in the very first step of detoxification.

Lots of different nutrients, especially antioxidants, boost the funciton of phase I, like ascorbate (vitamin C), tocopherol (vitamin E), thioctic acid (lipoic acid), tocotrienols (the other part of vitamin E), coenzyme Q10, glutathione, ginko biloba, pycnogenol, carotenoids, taurine, quercetin, selenium, molybdenum, zinc, magnesium, and much more (Packer, Skaper).

(Magnesium is an example of one mineral that is very important for phase I detoxification. And yet, the average American diet only provides about 40%, or less than half of the amount that we need in a day.)

Phase II of detoxification is a bit trickier. Now that electrons have been moved around on the surface of the chemical, the body can hook a large molecule onto the chemical at that prepared anchor site. This makes the unwanted chemical heavy and polar (electrically charged). This makes it easier for the body to drag the chemical out of the bloodstream and into the liver, then into the gall bladder, where it is finally excreted in the stool.

There are lots of types of molecules that the body uses for this phase II process called conjugation. But do not let that big word scare you, because all it means is we have "married", coupled, or hooked a big molecule onto the chemical (conjugated it), making it heavier and easier to drag out of the body. For conjugates, the body uses sulfur groups (which is why onions and garlic are so good for you), amino acids like glycine, cysteine, taurine, and other substances like glucuronic acid. But one of the most important conjugating molecules that we use to get rid of disease-provoking chemicals is glutathione. We make this in the body, but in this era of unprecedented pollution, we cannot make as much as we need.

Glutathione, one of the major tools the body makes for phase II of detoxification, is critically important in the body. We make less glutathione as we get older and not surprisingly, glutathione is lower with the more diseases that we acquire (Nuttall). The recipe for the tri-peptide glutathione is simple: cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine.

The work of detoxifying uses up and depletes nutrients. Over half of the body's detoxifications takes place in the gut. Drugs must be metabolized or detoxified. Organic foods have 2 1/2 times the anti-oxidant power of regular fruit or vegetables. When a chemical enters your body, Vitamin C can prepare an attachment site on a chemical for glutathione. When glutathione attaches, it makes the toxin heavy and polar. This facilitates dragging the chemical out of the bloodstream, into the liver, then the gall bladder and then to the intestines. Hence Vitamin C and glutathione are a lifesaving detox couple.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins and other centers around the world wondered what might be in foods that could make them such potent cures for cancer. For it they could figure this out, there would be millions of dollars make if they could synthesize this factor into a drug form. Out of this research came the fact that broccoli and other food members of the Brassica or cruciferous family of vegetables (Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, watercress, turnips, horseradish, cilantro, and more) contain God-given phytochemicals that rev up both phase I and phase II of detoxification.

When chemicals get into our bodies they form not just one kind of free radical or reactive oxygen species (ROS), but many types of free radicals. Fortunately, as the following examples show, we have in our bodies many types of free radical quenchers:

- glutathione neutralizes the hydroxyl radical
- taurine neutralizes the hypochlorite radical
- Vitamin E neutralizes the peroxyl radical
- beta carotene neutralizes the singlet oxygen radical, and
- glutathione peroxidase nuetralizes the hydrogen peroxide radical.

No wonder lipoic acid is called the universal antioxidant, because it can quench nearly all of these free radicals. At it also recycles antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin E back into their useful forms. In other words, once an antioxidant like vitamin C gives up an electron in order to quench the wildly destructive activity of free radicals (like carcinogen trichloroethylene in this morning's decaffeinated coffee), then vitamin C becomes useless. It is no longer able to donate an electron to turn off further free radical damage. Lipoic acid, however, restores this electron to vitamin C or vitamin E, restoring their usefulness, without damaging its own chemistry. The perfect recycler!

Drug companies rule medical education and the practice of medicine as dozens of well-referenced books have documented (Epstein, Glennmullen, Breggin, Fagin, Haley, Moss, Moore, Cohen). I don't have to waste your time giving you the evidence of how misguided the field of medicine is when these folks have already done a fantastic job. Even the Journal of American Medical Association has shown us that over 87% of physicians who make the rules or recipes for each disease are bought and paid for by the drug industry (Choudhry). No wonder practiced guidelines make every disease looked like a deficiency of some drug!

Soy foods can be toxic to the thyroid. Some components of soy foods inhibit thyroid peroxidase reactions that are necessary for making thyroid hormone. The isoflavones genistein and daidzen from soybeans will do this. (In Total Wellness issues from 1999 to present, you will learn that 60-80% of soy is genetically engineered and loaded with residues from the pesticide Roundup (glyphosate). Furthermore most soybean is in the form of soybean oil or vegetable oil which has been hydrogenated to product trans fatty acids. These damage cell membranes and hormone receptors leading to nearly all diseases including heart disease and cancer).

Serotonin is the brain's neurotransmitter or happy hormone that many antidepressant medications like Prozac, Effexor, Vioxx, Celebra, Zoloft and others work on. But the majority of serotonin in the body is not made in the brain. 95% of serotonin is made in the gut. Therefore if the gut isn't healthy, the person who is depressed does not have a chance of getting totally well and staying that way. He must heal the gut first.

Since nutrient deficiencies like selenium and zinc damage thyroid function, for some folks, merely correcting selenium deficiencies can normalize their thyroid function (Olivieri). Nutrients get progressively lower because of their depletion through the work of detoxifying our everyday chemicals and the work of healing. As well, soils are progressively more depleted of these minerals with repeated growing of crops. Also good minerals are often displaced from soil by heavy metals (like cadmium and aluminum) in acid rain from factory smokestacks.

Stockpiled chemicals stored in our fat don't stay put. They slowly leach out and damage our machinery, producting disease and accelerated aging. Some people do not stockpile much of their heavy metals in their red blood cells. But they have lots hidden in the brain (causing depression or poor memory, for example) or in the kidney (causing ankle swelling or back pain) or in some other important target organ like the heart (causing cardiac arrhythmia or congestive heart failure).

God left one route for us to unload a lifetime of damaging, disease-producing chemicals: SWEAT. A sauna program is one way of getting rid of toxins. The bottom line is that sweat is the only proven method for getting the most damaging toxins out of the body. There are no drugs, no surgery, no chelation, nor other detoxification methods with before and after measurements providing that unwanted chemicals like PCBs and pesticides were eliminated.

Remember the average American diet only provides 40% of the magnesium a person needs in a day. So everyone is low to begin with. Saunas will only make it worse. Magnesium is the main mineral to be lost, in the greatest amount, in sweat. Zinc and calcium follow closely for the most commonly lost minerals. Then all the other minerals and nutrients follow. Since most people already start out with multiple deficiencies, especially magnesium, it is imperative to compensate for the accentuation of losses incurred by forced sweating.

After a sauna take:
Vitamin C
Lipoic Acid
Protein to form glutathione
zinc, selenium, manganese, potassium, and calcium

Default Zinc and B6

Vitamin B-6 or P-5-P, cysteine and zinc are rate limiting nutrients for the formation of glutathione the main anti-oxidant. Glutathione has many essential functions including maintaining mitochondrial integrity and ATP production (essential for energy). It supports T-cells and protects against viruses, maintains the structural integrity of the gut and is the primary means of detoxifying and eliminating heavy metals and other toxins. It also maintains vitamin C and vitamin E in their active forms. The impairment of glutathione production due to the severe B-6 and zinc loss in pyroluria, (see below) accounts for a great many of the problems associated with it.
Here is more information for you. And yes, it is "fringe" or alternative theorys, not conventional medicine. However, when it worked for me, I became a believer.

Pyroluria is worsened by stress as the production of kryptopyrroles can double under stress. Therefore the condition can become relatively mild if stress is minimized. Many pyrolurics instinctively avoid stress and have often developed certain dietary approaches and supplement usages that do help the problem. But under stress, the need for B-6 and zinc can become much higher than would normally be used, up to 2000 mg per day of B-6 and 90 - 120 mg zinc because they are being lost in the urine at a very high rate. Taking higher doses prior to stressful events can prevent an episode. The low zinc naturally results in a high copper condition and the long list of problems seen in this condition is in many ways a list of the effects of low B-6, low zinc and high copper. Non-pyrolurics may have many of these conditions as it is not difficult to develop a B-6 and zinc deficiency with high copper due to chronic stress. The non-pyroluric will not need the very high doses of these nutrients in order to improve.

PYROLURIA
Pyroluria is a genetically determined chemical imbalance involving an abnormality in hemoglobin synthesis. Hemoglobin is the protein that holds iron in the red blood cell. Individuals with this disorder produce too much of a byproduct of hemoglobin synthesis called "kryptopyrrole" (KP) or "hemepyrrole." Kryptopyrrole has no known function in the body, and is excreted in urine.

Kryptopyrrole has binds to pyridoxine (vitamin B6) and zinc and makes them unavailable for their important roles of co-factors in enzymes and metabolism. These essential nutrients when bound to kryptopyrrole are removed from the bloodstream and excreted into the urine as pyrroles. Arachidonic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid) is also deficient.
The effect of pyroluria can have a mild, moderate, or severe depending on the severity of the imbalance. Most individuals show symptoms of zinc and/or B6 deficiencies, which include poor stress control, nervousness, anxiety, mood swings, severe inner tension, episodic anger (an explosive temper), poor short-term memory and depression. Most pyrolurics exhibit at least two of these problems. These individuals cannot efficiently create serotonin (a neurotransmitter that reduces anxiety and depression) since vitamin B6 is an important factor in the last step of its synthesis. Many of these persons appear to benefit from SSRI medications such as Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, etc. However, as with all mind-altering drugs, side effects occur and the true cause of the mental difficulties remains uncorrected. In addition these individuals often have frequent infections and are often identified by their inability to tan, poor dream recall, abnormal fat distribution, and sensitivity to light and sound. As you can imagine an SSRI will not correct these metabolic effects. More healthful benefits may be achieved by giving the appropriate supporting nutrients.

Pyroluria is detected by chemical analysis of the abnormal pyroles in urine detectable as a purple (on testing paper) metabolite in called "the mauve factor." Most persons have less than 10mcg of KP per deciliter. Persons with 10-20 mcg/dl are considered "borderline" pyroluric and may benefit from treatment. Persons with levels above 20 mcg/dl are considered to have pyroluria, especially if the above symptoms are present. The chemical analysis for KP is difficult due to the tendency for this chemical to decompose. Sometimes it is necessary to repeat the urine test to properly determine the level of KP being excreted. To make the initial diagnosis, no vitamins or minerals should be taken for two days before the urine is collected (This is to avoid false negative results). The specimen should be handled properly as well - collected and frozen immediately and protected from any light by being placed in aluminum foil. A repeat test to determine if the condition has been improved may be helpful.
People with mild-moderate pyroluria usually have a fairly rapid response to treatment if no other chemical imbalances are present. People with severe pyroluria usually require several weeks before progress is seen and improvement may be gradual over 3 - 12 months. Features of pyroluria usually recur within 2 - 4 weeks if the nutritional program is stopped.

Pyroluria is managed in part by restoring vitamin B6 and zinc. The type of replacement therapy is very important as zinc must be provided in an efficiently absorbed form. Vitamin B6 is also available in several forms. Both zinc and B6 supplementation need to be directed by the doctor as too much can be toxic, use of the wrong form will be ineffective, and avoiding competing minerals and supplements may be necessary. Other nutrients may assist in pyroluria include niacinamide, pantothenic acid, manganese, vitamins C and E, omega-6 fatty acids and cysteine. Food sources and nutritional supplements containing copper and red/yellow food dyes should be avoided.

Because pyrolurics are stress intolerant, they seem to be especially vulnerable to cumulative stress over many days. For example, parents of a pyroluric child should use discipline that is "short and sweet" rather than "long and lingering." It is not unexpected that pyroluric patients are prone to relapses, especially during illness, injury, or emotional stress.
