Request for advice from a young male morgie below:

Yeah I have. Not a fun feeling. Hi Jo. Thanks for posting this. When it starts I do a quick mouth swish and a throat noise with hydrogen peroxide pure 3 percent. It loosens alot of gunk. I used to do that 3x to 4x daily. In the UK it is 12 percent, so 1 part peroxide 3 parts water.

Some other things I did for my throat:

Menthol, ice blue or eucalyptus cough drops. Sugarfree if available. 1 tsp of honey chased with lemon juice or this can be put into hot tea. With throat discomfort warm liquids are better. Cold liquids seem to aggravate it.

I have also used Dentyne Ice sugarfree gum. Artic chill or winter mint flavor. If he is in the UK and he cannot get this then perhaps something like altoids mints perhaps.

Of course if a serious health concern perfectly fine to see a doctor about it. Especially if he has problems breathing as this can be serious. Just tell the doctor he has a sore throat problerms swallowing discomfort etc. Pretty legitimate problem when desribed like that. Sleeping propped up on pillows at night might help too if he sits up a little.

He should be drinking alot of water too. Those with lung problems and throat problems many people do not drink enough water. Water helps loosen mucus and flush toxins from the body. It also contains oxygen. The disease hates oxygen. Some lemon or peppermint can be put into water (tepid or warm if the throat is irritated) it tastes yummy and the disease hates that too.

An expectorant might also prove useful as well. And gargling with a medcinal mouthwash as well.

I hope this helps.

No I don't get them, but I suggest gargling with warm water and salt every half hour. I had an extreme throat infection last year and it felt like each time I swallowed I was swallowing a whole kiwi fruit. No kidding. After gargling about 6 times it cleared up.

It could be an allergic reaction also, in which case medical assistance should be obtained.
