This was found on the MRF website in their newsletter for August 2008. It is Phase I of research they have been conducting. Also it appears that the NIH program is not accepting Morgellons patients. August 2008 Newsletter Topics: 1. Microbiologist's report 2. NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program update 3. The Doctors show To MRF Registrants: Microbiologist's Report: A microbiologist whose work was funded through a grant from the MRF has issued a phase one report. The microbiologist was clear that the information provided to the MRF in this report was absolutely preliminary and not conclusive in any way. The microbiologist has submitted a request to the MRF for an additional two phases of this study which we hope to be able to fund in the future. The microbiologist's name has been omitted at their request since they do not wish to be contacted by patients and the media and wish only to do their work. You can read this phase one report here: Background NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program: Unfortunately, according to an official at the NIH Undiagnosed Diseases Program, a decision has been made at the NIH that patients with Morgellons disease will not be accepted into this program. We sincerely apologize for this situation, especially for those of you whose physicians already submitted your information to this program. The CDC continues to investigate Morgellons disease and will release their findings when they are ready. The Doctors: We would like to thank a patient with Morgellons disease for her participation in a segment of THE DOCTORS, a new, one-hour syndicated daytime talk show which will premiere in September on CBS. . We will give you additional information about the date this segment will air when the information becomes available to us. As always, we will update you as quickly as possible when any new information becomes available to us. ______________________________________ Okay guys, After skimming this MRF study it appeared to me that in these particular findings that it is possible that this affliction begins in city water and may build up in pipes and HOT water heaters. If this is the case for the time being I'm going to wash clothes in cold water. Too bad I steamed ALL of my carpeting .I'm not going to run out and replace my thirteen year old hot water heater due to lack of money and I'm too broke to go replacing pipes based on preliminary findings but this definitely does give food for thought and more questions. For instance: 1. If this comes from city water, wouldn't all of my neighbors have this? It would explain that ME, the person that spends the most time in this domicile is MOST infected. More time washing dishes (hands infected). More drinking the water (I use bottled or filtered pitcher in refrigerator for tea) however. All of those hot showers to get clean and feel better may have just been making this worse? Short cool showers for now I guess. We had already put a relativly inexpensive filtration system on the whole houses water supply. That would not help if something is already in pipes leading to bathroom, etc. I'm soaking my showerhead in bleach as I write this. As they stated, it is only preliminary but I'm paying attention to say the least. Thanks. Morgan

Thanks Morgan for posting this. Cocktail range of pathogens on an aquatic theme. I'm gonna swab and scope the insides of my shower head and drink bottled water like I should be doing anyway. There must be a way of cleaning and flushing out tanks and pipes? The likelihood of new tanks/pipework getting contaminated is probably quite high. Thinking about it, not all of these fibres structures need water - I've got some great multicoloured ones growing on the wall upstairs. Lots to discuss on this one...gonna keep reading it. Jo xxx

I'm with you Jo about flushing pipes. My husband had the novel idea of using pool shock in our cheap water filtration system and running that through our pipes and water heater. Letting it run through and then flushing throughly. Makes more sense than replacing everything which like you stated would soon become infected anyway. UPDATE: HUSBAND THOUGHT POOL SHOCK TO BE TOO CAUSTIC AND IS JUST USING A LOT OF BLEACH. Wish me luck. ![]() Morgan Last edited by Morgan; August 31st, 2008 at 12:11 PM.

does anyone know why MRF looked at a hot water tank as a source of Morgellon's? Do you know if they looked at any other sources before deciding to look at the hot water tank? wondering morgan, good luck!! let us know how it goes. Thanks godsgrace

Wastewater Treatment Plants Morgan, thanks SO much for that information. A while back, I posted this (above) and I'm not sure if I started a poll on it or not.(be sure to read further down what Jo and others have to say.... but I think these organisms can easily find their way into our water systems. I'd bet it's in our hot water tanks ONLY because it's in our systems. Several responses to my post indicated some water/sewer pipeline activity having taken place around their homes, possible pipe leaks from age, etc. If this stuff is escaping and entering our water tables, it's inevitable that it will find its way into our water systems, whether well or city. My friend was watching another history channel show yesterday and I didn't get to see it, but it was about just this. He said that the bacteria and viruses captured (as well as the bio-engineered organisims for treatment) are expelled into the air through vaporation. So...what happens when it rains? We get the gift everywhere. I researched my area, which is New Jersey and I happen to live just across the bay of a treatment plant. I read that these plants pipe what is filtered into the ocean (again a few blocks from me) only ONE MILE OUT!!! Why don't other people have Morgellons in this area? Who says they don't, but don't know it yet. They've been diagnosed as having any one of numerous autoimmune conditions. I know several people who have lesions, but don't want to listen to anyone other than their doctors. One woman has a daughter who was diagnosed with (get this) 4 or 5 of these commonly diagnosed diseases WHICH ALL HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS...CFS, Lupus... I forget the rest, but when I looked each of them up, not only were the symptoms similar, but there is no known cause and no known cure. One woman had lesions and her doctor told her it was from the venom of a spider bite and will work its way out. Well, no lesions now, but she is on her way to having MS, and already has CFS. I think when the lesions stop, we're in trouble. In addition, it probably affects people who's immune systems are compromised with other pathogens like herpes, and maybe Lyme....although Borrellia is probably included in this cocktail. Oh, and by the way....every single photo in figure 1 is what I have in my slides just a-waitin' for a camera that works. In fact, the second photo in #2 of figure 1 is exactly what I saw when I pulled a straight armhair out to scope it. After seeing these identical photos, I could probably just return it, but I've come this far in documenting what I pull out from my body, so I want evidence. Now I have comparisons! Awesome! So...........just what ARE they? Kritts Last edited by Kritters; August 31st, 2008 at 04:28 PM.

I had comprimised immunes system from CFDS and Herpes virus. But when we lived at an apartment with birds in walls, and two holes in main water pipe that blew the lid on my families health. Huge bushes with birds nests on the ground over pipe with holes too! I think the birds may have had this disease before us. Makes sense them being in the air with all the pollution we have biulding up. Noone is saying a word here about the undrinkable water in towns supply.? They wont either Im sure. How long can they keep ignoring or lying?

Nat, I remember you telling us about this. Didn't you move out and tell the next tenants about it or was that someone else? You AND the birds could have been affected simultaneously by exposure to whatever was in the water as well as the fungus. Hey, if they can't get us directly by chemtrails, use the sewage treatment formula. Kritts

| Jo re the stuff on your wall.It is so important to have the atmosphere dry in the house.I got 2 dehumidifiers 1 up 1 down and the mold smell disappeared. Most houses are damp though people don't realise. Its amazing how much is generated just boiling a kettle. The upstairs one has pulled out a gallon of water every day for the last 3 days.THATS just upstairs. I posted to carla somewhere else on site telling her not to get a steamer.I realised this caused big probs when I used it in the hens hut.And it was obvious to me steam wasn't the answer. Its getting rid of steam (condensation)thats part of the answer. Dont know what type of dwelling you live in but this house has lead water pipes as most of the older houses do,and there is no way I could change them to plastic,be far too expensive. But I dont have hot water tank-have an instant water heater-like mains severn, which is prob the best type to have.

Pat and Jo I alologise for interupting the flow of conversation here. I do want to add though that the nasty apartment I was at ALSO had black mold growing on sills, doors, walls and floor in some rooms. I washed weekly with bleach water. Sounds unbeviable but true. You name it I had it. And my four kids had friends up the you know what, they slept over, got sick too. Its all over this town.

This is what the dentist and the dermatogist have been saying to me, I have had a lot of dental work done, and the last two teeth that were pulled I had a problem with. I ended up with Herpes simplex ulcers all over the roof of my mouth talk about pain. I could not eat for a week, just fresh fruit and yougurt smoothies. My husband tried to test the black specs that were in our tub water to make sure it was not rust and he could tell that this was not rust. When he bathe our Chihuahua last summer, a bunch of black specs came flying off the dog on on to him, he said they were like bites to him. Now he still does not have this. Although for most of the last ten years, I am the one that did all the yard work, and cleaning of the house. He was out to sea about %80 of the time. Plus we are five miles away from a treatment plant, also they are building a marina a few miles away were the water is just sitting there, no circulation. Aloha our member here went down there last fall and wanted to just look at the ocean and opened her windows and had to close them because she could smell the marina, a fungal type odar. So my husband is going to put a tankless water system in today, we are going to try and find out more from the Navy on how to get the pipes clean. My husband is a Nuclear Engineer so he knows the water chemistry well. I just know deep in my heart this is my problem, also when I use to clean the bird breeder cages with a hose, that is when the one pair came up with the specs on his head. Now my husband does not clean the cages like I do and there specs are gone away. Wow a lot of work ahead, my neighbor keeps getting sick also, she is going to do the tankless also. Can't wait to see what happens when we change this, he said also that is why our clothes did not come clean. Something to think about for sure. Take care, and Aloha Unclear
