| Folks: - I saw a story on Morgellons disease on ABC news(?), within the last couple of days. - I wanted to post what I have found/think, with myself, that might relate to Morgellons. - For many years now, before ever hearing of Morgellons, (like I just heard of it yesterday), I have noticed a small sebaceous cyst in my cheek (1/8" diameter). It would get larger and larger, filling with congealed oil (?) from the follicle oil gland (?). - I also have two large ones on my back 1/2" diam. - I would squeeze the one on my face when it became visible, (I could always feel it before it became a noticeable bump), causing the putrid, (sorry, but it is), release of white gelled matter. - Pulling on it, I thought "boy that matter is tough". - Then I noticed a strong, very fine, 1/4" long multi-fiber (2-3 strands), in this mass! - Carefully pulling the fiber(s), would pull more out of the folicle, and it would be quite long! - My thoughts: You have a malformed follicle. It does not grow the normal thick facial hair, the hair it grows is so fine it doesn't keep the follicle open, and tends to be ingrown, the oil released can't get out, it putrefies. - If you can't, or do not squeeze this cyst, the deformed very fine hair will keep ingrowing to a very long length! Could this explain Morgellions? - The thing I don't understand, is what is the difference between these smelly content cysts and a blackhead? They are both congealed oil? A blackhead is a more solid plug, and stops getting bigger. These cysts keep getting larger. - Does it have to do with the fact that a blackhead follicle has a normal hair? A cyst doesn't? - I am assuming the congealing of oil is caused by a bacteria? Could there be different types of bacteria cause different types of gells? - It has also crossed my mind, that say a black head, simply is caused by the sunlight crosslinking any double bonds, (active sites that want to react with other active sites, double bonds), in the oil. Natural oils are sensitive things, if they have double bonds available, they will crosslink (gell). That's how Flaxseed, (linseed oil), makes a hard varnish. |

| Welcome Mjcane, Interesting experience with your extra long fibers! I know one sufferer who believes that human hairs turning dark and starting to grow inwards, was an early sign of morgellons for him. I can relate to his experience too. It could be a symptom of morgellons, could be. It cant explain the blue, red and other coloured fibers coming out of our bodies - analysed, they arent human. At the moment it looks like the colored ones are silicone and/or agrobacterium based - time will tell! Also, 90% of us have Lyme disease, another interesting connection. Sorry, I cant help with your other cyst/follicle questions. Jo |
