Default New to Morgellan's

I'm new to this, and ex-husband I believe has it--we get along quite well now that we are divorced!! I am actually the one who searched and searched the internet for him until I finally found something that matched his symptoms, and when he saw the online pictures of these "things", he agreed right away that those were the "things" he has. So we are both thinking he has Morgellon's----any way to tell for sure?

What is the CONTAGIOUSNESS of this??? We have a child that my ex needs to see and spend time with each week, but how can this Morgellon's be transmitted? I have read very little on this.

I don't want to keep my son from his father, but not knowing if my son will "catch" this disease from his father worries me.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Patty

Hi Patty,

It was good to chat with you for a bit tonight and welcome again to this wonderful site....you have come to the right place!

You will find tons of information and support here. Best advice I can give
you is to try and not absorb everything all at once. We have all been in the place you are right now and understand what you are going thru.

You might want to read about the Treatment Steps under Morgellons Treatment. The soaking baths and things to help with biting and itching is the best place to start for some relief for your ex-husband. Also, read the topic FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) in Morgellons Disease.

As far as causes of Morgellons.....well we are all waiting for answers to that..and we are all trying to hard to figure it out too...you might want to read Morgellons Theories and Speculations.

As far a being contagious....I don't think anyone knows the answer to that
for sure. Lots of folks on this site have family members who do not have Morgellons....but in some families all members do. You will soon learn tips, as we all have, for how to live with Morgellons and what works best for you and your family.

One thing to keep in mind is that while the fibers and lesions are key in Morgellons....most of us have different things associated along with the Morgellons and so the forms vary and therefore the treatments may vary......ie "what works for some does not work for others"...it will take some time to sort it all out.

Also, consider the possibility that your ex-husbands rash, could be something other than Morgellons......but if he has fibers....well it may be Morgellons...observations and reading more of the information on this site will help.

Keep asking questions and learn all that you can....lots of good folks here, lots of good advice, and loads of valuable information.....takes time as there is much to this disease... and much to absorb.

Again...good to meet you in chat...try and relax a bit if you can....the answers will come for you and your family.

Best to you,
rl

Hi Patty and welcome to the forum,

Glad you found it and it's really cool you researched it for your ex and get along with him better since being divorced. The last thing your child needs is to be stressed because his/her parents can't get along. Stress brings the immune system down.

Could you share more about his symptoms and where you are all from? Does he live near water? A waste treatment plant? Does he have any forms of herpes that you know of?

Did you know the human head weighs about 8 lbs? LOL only kidding....throwing in a little humor.

You have found a fabulous forum with tons of caring and intelligent people.

Hi Patty,

Just wanted to send you a welcome too. I, too, hope you will feel like you are among friends here. I see you already have a couple of wonderful welcome posts from two great posters here, RL and Kritters. RL has made a lot of good suggestions for you and your ex. Kritters will try to help you pinpoint what environmentally could be a contributing factor in the morgellons mystery. She will also tickle your funny bone from time to time which is a real help for us all. In TCM laughter while sick is considered an important tool to regaining health.

So far none of us really have answers, but we do have a lot of theories and speculations which are all found under that section of the main index.

As RL points out no one really know if Morgellons is extremely contagious, at least easily contagious like a cold or flu. The jury is still out on that and so much more as well.

And Kritters is right, this is a great forum here. Franky allows us a lot of freedom to bat the proverbial ball around, and we have many interesting discussions. I hope you will join us often.

best, tcm
