| Dear Mr. HarXXX : Thank you for contacting me about Morgellons Disease . I have contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on your behalf and will certainly share their response with you once I receive it. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. Representative (fill in your US representative's name) US House of Representatives Washington, DC 20515 __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _________________________________________ Subject: Morgellons Disease- Immediate Action Needed by the CDC Importance: Urgent Dear: Thousands of families in the US and abroad are reporting symptoms of a serious and disabling illness which is being called Morgellons Disease. Unfortunately, to date, no one understands the cause of Morgellons disease, nor how many US families are currently at risk for contracting the illness. Most families affected by this illness are looking to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for immediate answers. I am asking that you make certain that this grave situation receives the immediate and full attention that any potentially infectious illness posing a public health threat would receive from the public health sector. Specifically, I am requesting that you ask the CDC to make the investigation of Morgellons disease a priority, to expedite and expand the upcoming investigation, and to inform the medical community regarding the CDC Morgellons investigation. As you may be aware, the CDC recently hired an outside vendor to conduct the long-awaited CDC investigation of the disease. The current investigation is an epidemologic investigation, and I am asking that the CDC quickly move from an epidemiologic investigation to aggressively searching for a treatment and eventual cure for this disease. It should be noted that statistics gathered by the Morgellons Research Foundation indicate that 37 percent of sufferers have multiple family members who are affected, and that one out of six affected family members is a child age twelve or under. I respectfully and emphatically request that you ask the CDC to contact state medical boards and physician groups as soon as possible, to inform these groups that CDC will soon be conducting this investigation. Since the majority of US physicians are unaware of the symptoms of Morgellons disease, it seems prudent to inform them about this public health investigation, as well as the distinct symptoms of this disease as soon as possible. Numerous phone calls and letters have poured into the CDC from the public over the past few years asking for help, and the CDC has already received letters from 39 members of Congress asking them to expedite the Morgellons invesitigation. In fact, the CDC has received more inquiries regarding Morgellons disease than any issue in the agency's history. I appreciate your rapid attention to this matter and seek your personal commitment to ending the suffering caused by Morgellons disease. Sincerely, Your Constituent |

| Here is some useful information I learned when writing Congressmen and got no response. It works like a charm if you are a woman (or whatever other minority) and write them a respectful letter asking them why women are consistently ignored and receive no replies when they write letters to congressmen about issues of concern. I also asked why any letters we received from congressmen about current issues (always sent around voting time--isn't that amazing?) were written to my spouse alone and ignored me, even though I was also a registered voter in the same household. I did this with another issue of concern, and suddenly I got immediate responses to my emails and written letters. Now all letters received in my household are addressed to all family members. I am not a fan of political correctness, but have used it to elicit a response. best, tcm

| Here is the link I used to email my U.S. Representative and two U.S. Senators. Wrote three e-mails received two back. I like your letter 10meters.http://tinyurl.com/379y7 12/03/07 Dear Mrs. _____, Thank you for contacting me about Morgellon's . I appreciate your willingness to share your concerns. On November 6, the House of Representatives approved the conference report for the Labor, Health & Human Services and Education Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2008 (H.R. 3043). This final version of the bill passed by a vote of 269 to 142, and I voted yes since the bill provides substantial funding for key education and health programs. The bill provides $479.5 billion for the Department of Health and Human Services, including nearly $30 billion for the National Institutes of Health. It also provides $63.6 billion for the Department of Education, including more than $25 billion for programs under the No Child Left Behind Act, which is $600 million over the President's request. This bill was also passed by the Senate but vetoed by the President. The House recently held a vote to override the veto. I voted to override the President's veto because I support funding for the important health and education programs in this bill. The override failed to pass by the required 2/3 majority. The final vote was 277-141. Thanks again for contacting me. Sincerely, Vernon J. Ehlers Member of Congress ______________________________ 11/30/07 Dear Mrs. ______; Thank you for sharing your concerns with me regarding appropriations for medical research. I appreciate hearing your views on this subject. Congress is in the process of negotiating with the White House regarding the fiscal year 2008 (FY0 Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill. I assure you that I will keep your views in mind as Congress continues to work toward passage of FY08 appropriations legislation.Sincerely, Carl Levin Runswithscissors |

There are multi-national efforts going on in the US. Some are having great results. Unfortunately, science moves slowly and results are not shared until published. I might, in your stead, think about getting my name on a list of some sort if you do that over there. Medicine is different in the UK and perhaps your doctor will be notified when there is a breakthrough made public. I also would make contact with places that study international or tropical diseases because they work on the more esoteric and less commonplace disorders/parasites. I might establish a relationship with some infectious disease doctor because they are probably the first to get papers on this. I am in the US and feel confident that the medical professions of our countries are responding to our needs - perhaps not rapidly enough for most of us, but there is progress and hope. |
