Re: I really need help bad about my teeth Can't really advise you fully on this b/c each situation is somewhat unique I am sure. I do get the impression my teeth were one substantial minor cofactor to my Morgellons.
My problem was four years ago I passed out the asphalt while getting into the car. Cracked my teeth really bad. Then I had to get three crowns and one extraction/dental implant. (It was very expensive and I had to argue like crazy with the health insurance/but they covered the titanium implant as medical.)
Perhaps the implant had also gotten infected; however this is what really herxed me and may be relevant: The dentist was really snobby and would not put temporary crowns on the teeth w/out money up front; a lot of arguing changed that. Of course during those weeks, I discovered there were open, exposed nerves. These got infected and I had to have two root canals! Now many people go through this process without any drama However, I do know someone who swore he got paralyzed, really, front invasive procedures at the dentist.
OK don't want to scare you. My point is: no matter what.....Never allow the dentist to allow you to sit without a reliable covering on cracked, infected, or nerve exposed teeth.
If it were me, I would get the crown....With the understanding that dentist be scrupulous in his hygiene. If you are not currently on an antibiotic protocol for this, insist the dentist give you at least a week worth or something. Tell him that you have had infections from cavities before if you must.
Again though, I don't know if this a crown he had already replaced that had fallen off, he is encouraging you to extract the tooth, etc. You see, sometimes these folks don't tell you that these jobs are under their warranty months or even over a year after it is first placed.
The crown may not be a bad idea if it is covered 50 percent by insurance. The thing is, is the underlying tooth just sensitive because the enamel is decayed, or is so extraordinarily painful that you jump through the roof from cold, heat or contact. If so, they may try to push a root canal. Now I don't know if the dentist feels a root canal is required whether extracting the tooth avoids proliferation of an infection to the nerve, I fear not, but check.
Again, I am not a dentist, haven't seen how damaged the tooth is, etc. Maybe others will have experience with this.
However, if family has good dental insurance through armed forces say, consider all your options. If you have to get it extracted, please, please, please, make sure they give you even more preventative antibiotics then.
My biggest concern again from my experience is having anything exposed. For example, I have this crown that keeps coming off. There is the most darn awful pain....Then I often see a small area an hour later on a corresponding area of the scalp. Swear to this. Just have him put something on top of any open area today.
Let us know how you make out.
