Default Washed dogs today

My wife and I decided to wash the dogs today to treat them. I had the job of washing the four of them. On each on I started with the salt/peroxide spray to soak them down then used Oxyfresh pet shampoo and finished off with Ecovie spray. The first two, a pit bull mix and a pitbull, went fine with no problems or issues. The third dog, a Chihuahua, as I was doing the shampooing I started to feel little stings on my arms and saw little black specks on my arms. They were not fleas or ticks. Then I did the fourth dog, a long haired Chihuahua, and I saw the same black specks on arms and stomach. Needless to say after they were done I hopped right in the shower to treat myself. I will now know to be more prepared when bathing the dogs in the future. They all seem to be resting easy now. No more sctatching or gnawing.

Hi Unclearhubby,

I'm Cindi. We also have a Chihuahua and everytime I pick him up i feel a stinging biting sensation. I don't pick him up anymore. What really grabbed my attention here is all my major symptoms started right after we got the dog last fall. Were you able to identify at all what was on them other then the black specks. We first noticed the black specks on my daughters and my skin right after we got the Chihuahua. I always wondered if it was some type of mite that burrows. But I have been unable to get a sample that matched what a dog and human could have. Why just the Chihuahua's I find that interesting. Please let me know if you figure it out. I know there are a couple different kinds. Cheyletiella mites or rabbit fur mites can infect cat's and dog's although I think different species infect them. I just haven't been able to prove it. Good luck and all the best.

Cindi

Cindi,
We have had all of our dogs checked by our vet. No mite or lice was found. they did skin scrapping and comb outs and nothing was identified as being wrong with any of them. We did lose my wife Himalayain cat to and unknown problem about a month and a half ago after numerous test and exploritory surgury. The vets that we used were totally confused about what was going on with him. I think that is why they are working with us on this problem. We will continue on searching and treating our pack. We are trying to get our daughter to treat her dogs but since the vet can't find anything she says there is nothing to treat.

Hi Cindi and Unclearhubby..... I assume you've tried Frontline (only really for fleas) and Stronghold which treat mites as well... We've had the same problem with our pets.. one of our dogs and one of our cats... The stronghold once a month seems to help and other than that bathing in eco-vie. We also give them the food grade DE powder on their food and I also pour a little eco-vie on their food too. You can also rub the DE all over them as well.. At the moment they seem Ok I definitely think I get stinging and biting things on me from the dog... trouble is both dogs have always slept in our bedroom with us and would be devastated if we made them sleep downstairs !!! Would probably howl all night.... lol ... Oh the difficulties of being an animal lover, however, the benefits far outwhey the problems. Hilly

Hi Hilly,

We have tried frontline not that much of a difference. Where can you buy Stronghold? Where do you purchase your food grade DE?

I have to make this fast, for your animals I just lost a cat, a Seal Point Himmie, he was my best friend in the whole world, my husband is military and for years he was gone 80% of the time, this cat was there for me, when I had the migraines and my neck problems and was bed ridden he only left my side just to eat and potty. After $4,000 and exploratory surgery we had to put him to sleep, he lost half his weight even though I was force feeding him. The surgery show, these capsules inside him and then they would fill up and get infected and burst, it started in Feb, and he died May 24th, right after that is when we all started getting the symptoms. So with your animals we got from our vet the panacur and did that for three days and the cats for 5. revolution, frontline, heartguard. Then now the eco vie, and the salt, perioxide and water and we use a product call Oxyfresh, if you want more on the Oxyfresh please PM me. I will let you know what works. They are getting better each day. Aloha Unclear

It is so hard when we lose an animal-they are actually part of the family. I am also an avid animal lover and don't know what I would do without my best friend carlie. My heart goes out to all of you.
