| Honestly, I cannot believe that I am traveling 3000 miles to see a doctor about this and at the same time, it seems like the most normal thing to do. Please keep us in prayer. Jared has a lowgrade fever today. We went to church, rollerbladed, played tennis, swam and now he has a fever. I think he just wants to stay up late!! Our appointment is 10:45 on Tuesday. Please pray for us. I'm not so good at this. The boys overwhelm me and I get somewhat foggy and don't retain all that I should. I should get a tape recorder. Lots of love, Melissa Any tips would be appreciated. I don't get sick and neither do the boys. this is our first major health issue.

Best of luck, love carla xxxx PS> Get yourself a tape recorder .I use my phone one because everthing leaves your head before you get home.If you can`t tape it write any important bits down |

| Melissa, If it feels right to you- it is the right thing to do. If your child was sick with anything else would you travel to see the best??? I know the answer. You are doing what any parent would do that loves their children. Don't consider it a doctor appointment, consider it an adventure with your boys and an investment in your future. Two of the best thing you can give your children is a happy mom and health --two things all the money in the world cannot buy. I have done ALOT of traveling for health issues and have regretted very little of it (only regret- the trips to see the U of Iowa derm docs ). I considered it an investment in myself and always tried to find something fun to add into it. The docs in New York were a little miffed that I wanted to know my test schedule. I was going to see the Statue of Liberty, 9-11 site, etc if I was there anyway- even if the main purpose was for health reasons!!!Carla is right, get a small tape recorder. I used to recommend that for parents in IEP meetings. Also, have your questions ready so you do not forget, and make the doc let you write down his answers. You are spending good money to see this doc, it is the least he can do. When you are excited or nervous, you tend to get "stuck' on certain responses and the next minute or two is non-existent because in your mind you are still on the last sentence. And, as for me, my memory is ZIP! So, unless I write it down or record, it is gone. I think it was Linny that said she was glad her husband was there for some of the same reasons. Duh, see, I just looked at Carla's post AGAIN and she said the same thing re leaves your head before you get home.If you can`t tape it write any important bits down, but did I remember??? No! Well, good luck and enjoy the adventure. Linda

| Good luck Melissa!!! I too will keep you and your precious boys in my prayers. I know how you feel....I worry about my boys as well...they're a little older but nothing scares a parent more than the health and well being of our children. My guys don't have lesions..but I've seen a few things show up on their faces. I've also seen a few fibers on their clothing..just things here and there. I'm trying extremely hard to keep our environment clean...also changing their diets, somewhat. It's hard with kids because they can be such fuzzy eaters.....but a few changes won't hurt. Anyway, recording or writing your questions down is a good thing, before you're appointment. I forgot to write down my little shopping list of questions and symptoms for a recent specialist appointment. I was so mad 'cause I forgot to mention a few important things. Oh well, I learned from that mistake. ![]() Also, just want to say....event though we're all strangers we're ALL in this fight together. I wish you and your family a safe journey and a positive doctor appointment!!!! All the best!!!! Sally ![]() |

| good luck, melissa. i've just gotten back on and don't know that you'll see this BEFORE you go, but believe me......my thoughts, hopes and prayers are right there with you and your boys. you ARE doin the right thing. a mother's love knows no bounds. (and i third what lindalu and carla say........either record or write down what the doctor says while you're there, but write down your questions before you go) hugs, kisses and hopes. brenda
