Can Someone Please Explain

Last night I was cooking pasta for my family, gnocchi. I took my tomato sauce out of my fridge, opened the protective plastic covering and almost immediatly noticed black specks appearing in the container. I removed them thinking it was pepper or particles of herbs. I poured the cooked pasta in the frying pan (teflon, not sure if that makes a difference)along with the sauce and the black specks multiplied. I couldn't believe it. How can this be? I seen those black specks coming out of me, usually my fingertips, not food. I'm not a scientist so if anyone is reading this please share your opinions. I had a vapourizer (water and vinegar) going as well hoping to clear the air because for some reason my kitchen and bedroom are the worse areas for fibres. I also have 2 dogs hanging out in a room off my kitchen 24\7.

Also, last yr my husband removed a portion of black mold in our basement...it was contained to one area and not very big. He's sure he got it all...now I'm wondering if we should get someone in to check it out.

I'm so sorry -- how awful that must have felt. But you're definitely not alone with that experience -- others have had similar ones as well.

There was someone on this site with the username StandsWithFists who had mold problems in her home. She suggested that anyone who's spotted mold even in a small area call in a mold specialist to examine your home. You'll find some posts by her within this site -- if you click on her username, you can read all the messages she's posted here. She had a LOT of information on mold.

Many of us feel mold/fungus might have played a role in our contracting this disease. But some heartening news: StandsWithFist recently told us that she's now symptom-free. And many of us are almost there as well. So please know you can beat this!

Sometimes I wonder if I'm imagining these darn things...that's why I run to this site hoping for a response. It really means alot, especially when someone like yourself reaffirms what I' m going thru. So thanks again for your positive advice and taking the time to respond. I'm so happy you're almost there 'symtom free' and hope I can say the same someday.

I'll check out that username and perhaps find some additional info on mold....you never know, it could still be lurking around my home.

Sally, I had someone out to test my house & condo for Mold when I 1st discovered these fibers all over my environment. A yr. later, I did the testing myself...still trying to convince my husband we have a problem. I have alot of food issues, usually black specks in freezer and white fibers in refridge along w/stuff in cabinets and in food in cabinets. The food issue is particularly scarey, esp. when it feels like you're feeding this stuff to your kids. You're not alone in your findings as I think we've discussed this issue before and there were others w/the same observations. I remember how freaked I was when I 1st discovered this, actually still am, but hope you can find some comfort knowing you're not alone. Thanks Phillyfanatic...this site is a godsend. I'm so grateful for everybody's support and kind words.

Yes I've found fibres inside my fridge too along with black specks showing up inside different jars of food, etc. I don't understand it and is very scary, especially when you have a family to feed. The medical community is no help..I told one of my sisters about the black specks, she called me weird ....so I've decided to handle this thing alone, no more confiding to family members. Kinda sad but what are you going to do. I don't think my husband believes 100% either...he keeps trying to come up with explanations, like it's pepper in the pasta etc . I'm trying to convince him to get a mold specialist to inspect our home..he thinks he got it all last summer, I'm not so sure. I won't be satisfied until I get the test done, even if it's negative, at least it will put my mind at rest. So thanks again Philly...I'll keep you in mind if anything comes up.

Just a little health update....Feeling somewhat tired this week, but my appetite is picking up. My eyes have been bothering me...feels like they are full of sand somedays, but coping. My aches and pains have improved, not as sore as I used to be. But, I did have an outbreak on my face...gosh..a huge pimple right on my temple, a few more on the side of my face and back. They have cleared up, thankfully. I have 2 doctor appointments coming soon...not expecting much, but who knows, maybe they'll find something.
