do NOT go into any kind of pool/ocean if you have open sores!! open sores will let bacteria straight into your body. its our skin that protects us, if you have broken skin or open sore, stay out of anything you cant clean with bleach before getting into. now having said that, if you have a tub you can clean, then a soak in epsom salts feels soooooo gooood!!

public pools/hot tubs are bacteria pits, but the ocean, id say if it doesnt burn your probably ok. have you ever poured salt in a wound? like that. if going into the ocean doesnt sting, then do it.. i LOVE the beach, the sound of the ocean helps me so much

Please quit giving advise on things that you know nothing about. The greatest skin treatment of all is the ocean and bacteria cannot possibly get past the lesion with it's protective barrier.Guesswork hurts people and slows or stops the healing process.People come here for help from knowledgeable people as a last resort to stop their suffering.I try not to reply unless I possess the facts and the ability to substantiate them.First do no harm.

Default Thats what I am talking about.

I was in the ocean nearly every day for yeas my skin looked very nice I also did alot of tearing the lesion down in the ocean.

There was so much blood flowing I thought a shark was gonna eat me.

It seemed like after the ocean water the lesions would close up pretty good.

I do not like pools, I had one and the chemicals would really mess up my body but good, so instead of stepping out my back door and into a pool I went 8 miles to the beach.

what did i say, 'if it stings, get out'... im a huge beliver in the beach and the ocean, theres something about the ocean that heals me, thats why i always go to the beach..
and when i give advice, i clearly say that it is my opinion based on what i have seen in myself.. im no doctor, never said i was. someone asks my advice, if i have a sugestion, ill give it. if i dont, i wont. but ive never said this is a FACT.. my opinion is just that, my opinion.. but dont ask my opinion then tell me im wrong, an opinion cant be wrong. stating a fact, thats different..
now i dont know where you live, but sometimes the oceans get run off after rains, thats when they post signs at the beach saying 'DONT GO IN THE WATER' so dont tell me the ocean is a cure all, it isnt. sometimes even the ocean gets dirty.
and just where do you think sewer water ends up? crap from the gutter, the streets that cars leak oil onto, the bacteria level in the ocean CHANGES... thats why they post a sign not to go into water, hig bacteria levels today.. at least here where i live that happens.. im close to pismo, oceano, jalama, morro bay...maybe where i live the city lets us know when not to go into the water because they care more than where you are? i dont know.. next time they post a sign, ill take a pic for you, ok/

I agree Jane, the ocean can be very dirty. In fact I read somewhere on the internet that from the air the coastlines along US shores are a fairly uniform brown in color. I do not know from what, but it does give me pause about bathing in it very often. It's good that beaches are tested now and then as bacterial counts can be dangerously high. Closing them when they have problems is a good idea. Unfortunately only a few beaches are tested and even when they are it is not often enough to catch all issues. This is why it's good you mentioned that no one should get in the water with open sores, both to prevent adding to the problem and also to avoid picking up a few more problems. As if we do not already have enough...

exactly, tcm. the beaches nearby me are actually cleaner than most, but the water is still flowing all around the globe. but usually after the rain, the beach patrols will post signs warning people to stay out of the water..
i remember living in goleta/santa barbara. the beaches there have tar on them everyday, id have a hell of a time getting tar out of my horses hoofs after riding on the beach ( guy at the stable told be to pour lighter fluid on my horses hoofs..? i wasnt gonna do that, i stuck with the hoof pick) but once you get around the point conception bend, the beaches have no tar and are pretty clean for the most part...so within less than 100mile strech, the water/beach changes a lot...
this is jalama beach, close to goleta
