| Frankly, I don't think they give a d**m. Except maybe to jet off at taxpayer expense, attend and give lavishly expensive dinners, and buy expensive clothes all the while mouthing false platitudes of concern about the "little people" in the US everywhere. Promise them anything but give them economic disaster (it does sound rather like the old Arpege commercials) and force many in the middle class into the lower class (no jobs), thereby ensuring total control over their lives which are now dependent on the small crumbs of government beneficence. "Promise her anything, but give her Arpege." ARPEGE PERFUME (1945) "No bottles to break - just hearts." ARPEGE PERFUME

| H**ls, bells (as you all know it must be bad if I am resorting to edited four letter words), Carla, they are doing so much and making what they do so large (huge bills that even those in Congress are passing without reading) that it is simply impossible to keep up with it all. All I know is if the Dems are proposing it, it is probably another bill to abrogate freedom for those who are paying for the government, the taxpayers. It is a farce. Please try to call, write letters and in general jump up and down to let these dodo birds (lumbering fat cats who live in luxury at our expense--to include many in Congress who own multiple houses they cannot possibly pay for on Congressional salaries) know we are extremely displeased with their actions. If we do this it may keep some of the absolute graft in check. Please help remove these miserable excuses for "our" representatives out of government. Help dump all those up for re-election in '10 and '12. Make sure they are elected out of power. If you can afford no money donations please volunteer time (if you have the energy) to see that honest men/women are elected in the future if honest elections are at all possible. As one who has seen the extreme dishonesty of at least some Illinois elections first hand, I am not counting on that either.

| sandmjones - Obama was one of many (40) Senators and Representatives who sent letters to the CDC a few years ago. He actually sent two. So he is aware of Morgellons, if only in the most innocent of ways. I will write....I write to everybody....the more they hear the better. At least, it can't hurt. SS |

| I believe the new health care fiasco bill being discussed now plans to cut health care, not find new ways to treat new diseases. Many with Morgellons fit the "old" category. So rationed care for you (they are already squeezing hospitals and medicare benefits even before any potential new legislation passes). Meanwhile O, who has a boat load of money which has conveniently fallen his way since being elected as a senator, says he wants nothing but the best for his current family (wife and daughters) if they are in the same circumstances. This no doubt includes his wonderful self when he is old. I heard this view in a discussion on the radio where O said this himself (it is not found in the following article). As dear sweet O says about the rest of us, who are not so wealthy, well, we are just flat outta luck unless we are wealthy. And they have plans for those wealthy folks too, grab their money and run: The American Spectator : AmSpecBlog : Obama Wants to Let Those Pesky Geezers Die Obama Wants to Let Those Pestky Geezers Die By Matthew Vadum on 6.25.09 @ 2:36PM In a rare moment of candor, President Obama explained to an audience how government-run healthcare would work in America. According to the Los Angeles Times: President Obama suggested at a town hall event Wednesday night that one way to shave medical costs is to stop expensive and ultimately futile procedures performed on people who are about to die and don't stand to gain from the extra care. In a nationally televised event at the White House, Obama said families need better information so they don't unthinkingly approve "additional tests or additional drugs that the evidence shows is not necessarily going to improve care." He added: "Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller." Obama said he has personal familiarity with such a dilemma. His grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given less than nine months to live, he said. She fell and broke her hip, "and the question was, does she get hip replacement surgery, even though she was fragile enough they were not sure how long she would last?" [...] So, old people: screw you. In the future Uncle Sam will put you on an ice floe and let you float away to your heavenly reward. It gives new meaning to the Latin phrase "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori." (In English, How sweet and glorious it is to die for one's country.) Medical decisions should be made by patients, their families, and their doctors, not by government bureaucrats, but that's ObamaCare for you.

| TCM - I think that is unfair to try to pin any of this mess on any one person. The financial crisis has been developing for many, many years (see the latest analysis of Goldman Sachs complicity). And we ALL know that the health care system has needed overhauling for decades. It's not that the quality of care isn't here, it's the delivery of services. The vast majority of resources go to "end of life" services, rather than stressing "wellness". I am saying this as I have a 63 year old sister dying from a brain tumor, and has gone from Mas General Hospital to another hospital and now in a nursing home. It has been over a year, and she has been on a feeding tube and before that a ventilator. She could die any day. The cost of her health care for the past year has bankrupted the family, which had been quite comfortable. Nevermind what insurances have paid in. She is NOT going to recover, and she hardly speaks. When she does, it is unintelligible. The week before, my 91 year old mother fell and sustained a compound fracture and underwent surgery. She, too, has been institutionalized ever since. Both my sister and my mother have been resuscitated. Both have requested "Do not resuscitate" afterwards. I love these two women more than I can say, but I know that more money has been spent on their care in the past year than the total of their previous years. And neither are ever going to imporove nor do they have any "quality of life". These are very difficult issues for us all to think about, but there is not an endless supply of everything. Not to mention that, at least in these two cases, the extraordinary care they have received has only prolonged their suffering. I read an article today about the conductor Sir Edward Downes and his wife, who elected assisted suicide rather than endure the pain of cancer and cancer treatment. Their family travelled with them to Zurich to give them support during this process. They may now be charged with some kind of criminal conduct. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/15/wo...tain.html?_r=1 Where is the dignity and sense in all of this? We would never allow a beloved pet to suffer like this. My mother skrimped and saved her entire life, and every penny is gone. When her house is sold, the state gets that, too. And then there are the uninsured who use ER's like clinics. Something has to give. SS |

| SS... Sorry to hear about your mom and sister. I have a living will, and I'm 61. If something similar should befall me, I would not want my family to suffer if my quality of life is not there. That is my choice. I also agree with what Obama is saying. If I were seriously dying of something without a doubt and surgery was an option for another problem that didn't really matter anyway, I would opt out. Why pay the insurance companies and big pharma for something that really isn't necessary? I don't know about not fixing a broken bone that was sticking into my muscles or organs, but surgery can possibly cause more harm than good because of the ever existing risks involved. Speaking of animals, I know a woman who seems to love her dog more than her child (I'll spare the details of that) and the dog is like 100 years old or near human equivalent. It is dying of cancer and she keeps taking it to the doctor for tests and surgery for other things. I think the humane thing would be to have it put down and not put it through all the pain and discomfort of these things. Just keep it comfortable and let it die at home if she won't put it down. That's my opinion anyway. Kritts |
