| Whether the erosion of various toxins or parasites in the skin, the toxins he has entered the blood. Erosion of the nervous system, drugs applied on the skin surface can not solve the real problem, we must eliminate the bacteria from the body, adjusting the body's immune system, balance organ function .That is fundamental to solve the problem. I have cured many skin diseases with special Treadtional Chinese medicine . |

| Hi xuanhu, I need to mention that our bodies need good bacteria to fight off the "bad" bacteria. We need healthy cultures to keep our body in balance. I drink organic kefir every day which is a pro-biotic. Yogurt too. In the white light, ~jonsi

| Bacterial infections are not the only background infections found in those who have Morgellons symptoms. Also a problem for some are viral infections, two of which have been found in me. I am currently treating these viral infections with a low dose of Western medicine along with herbs. I did use TCM exclusively for a couple years before finding a Western doctor to run tests to find what exactly was in the background. Although I did use many good strong TCM teas containing herbs which are effective for bacterial, fungal and viral infections it took adding in some Western medicine to finally quiet the viral component of my Morgellons infection. Adding this medication has silenced the lesions and now I do not have any new ones (for over six months now). When I added in the medication those on my back quickly dried up. One which was deeper took longer, but again this dried up over time. So I am totally in agreement that treating surface symptoms is not enough. I think most who have this illness are aware that it is necessary to treat interior as well as exterior symptoms. You may want to do a search on the main page using Harvey as a search to find old posts which discuss Dr. Harvey and the types of problems he found in those with Morgellons. He was the original Western doctor who looked into Morgellons extensively to find a cause (as understood in Western medicine). Lyme disease also seems to be implicated in the illness, at least for many of us. My current doctor feels that the types of background infections could vary from person to person and could also include fungal infections. He also helped me by giving me a Western dewormer. While various herbal wormers were helpful they alone were not strong enough. I have had more than one TCM herbal wormer (wu mei wan for one) plus several herbal wormers which were made of Western herbs. It was by using Western medicine's pharmaceutical parasitic medicine that the parasitic infections finally lessened greatly (I did see evidence in my stool). Anyway, for me adding in lower amounts of two Western medications to my herbal protocols has helped a lot. I handle the herbs myself now as I have studied Western herbalism as well as TCM herbal medicine on my own. I also learned some from an Western herbalist and the TCM master here. I feel that I am getting a lot better, especially since I also feel that there is some cancer connection to some of our skin symptoms and have approached some of my herbs from that perspective near the start. Adding in some cancer salves to draw out infection through the lesions greatly lessened my illness as well. I do not need to use these now, but before I had a Western doctor to help these helped greatly to quell the symptoms which were rapidly spreading on my arms and lower legs. We used a lot of liver/gall bladder herbs at the time as well as a lot of them to draw down heat from my head. Lately I am gaining more energy and have recently started a Western herbal which helps me to sleep more soundly at night and also treats the nervous system. I use that with a chamomile tincture I make myself which also treats the nervous system. Sometimes you just know what will help your own illness and so I am going with that. I think these herbs are helping my energy. This winter (kidney season) I plan to use some stronger TCM formulas for the kidneys. As you know, everything in its time. I do keep treating my symptoms as they change with the seasons and the organ systems associated with those seasons. Oh, and besides the blood the lymph system (including of course spleen) is greatly implicated in this illness. I believe that the heat dampness (whether excess or deficient) found in the skin greatly exacerbates symptoms of itching. I have never had a lot of itching but then I also have used some TCM herbs which treat skin dampness.

| I am thinking at this point in my research that cancer can be involved to the degree that it is the end result of un-addressed assaults on different areas of the body, whatever they may be, wherever they have originated or eventually lodged themselves. I believe that the cysts, tumors, granulomas are the immune system's last ditch effort to contain and isolate that which it cannot rid us of, whether bits and pieces of organisms and debris the body couldn't recognize or couldn't digest through phagocytosis, or colonies the body felt necessary to contain to prevent newly forming organisms from circulating. Hey, the brains haven't figured out what cancer is (some have but are kicked out of the medical profession) so I reserve the right to come up with my own hypothesis...right or wrong. It sure beats..."ummm...I dunno what causes it and dunno what cures it (besides burning or cutting it out)Dr. Kritts |

| I am not sure I believe that skin cancer relates only to old nutrition in the body gone awry. I feel pretty sure that some day this disease will also have some genetic components identified as part of the picture which will link many of us who are susceptible to Morgellons. Skin cancers have studies which have indicated a strong genetic component. Not that I am a big fan of Staninger, but I believe she has mentioned that people with Scandanavian and Celtic backgrounds are more prone to getting Morgellons. If true, this generally would mean there is some genetic commonality to getting Morgellons. I do know that Savely checks for celiac disease and that evidently this is often part of the picture as well for those with Morgellons. Celiac disease is also more prevalent in these same populations. I believe these genetics predispose many of us with Morgellons to thyroid disease, hemochromatosis, adrenal disorders and other autoimmune diseases as well as cancers of the skin: Cutaneous Malignancy Melanin protects the cells of the skin from the effects of ultraviolet radiation. Accordingly, individuals whose melanocytes produce little melanin are at higher risk for skin cancer. The following traits indicate higher risk of sun damage to skin and therefore increased risk of skin cancer risk: 1. fair complexion, 2. light hair, 3. blue/green eyes, 4. inability to tan, 5. history of multiple or severe sunburns, 6. Celtic ancestry. There is also some discussion in this online book about the genetic relationship between fair skinned Northern Europeans and skin cancer: The genetic basis of common diseases - Google Book Search It might be interesting to add some of the above genetics as questions for the Morgellons polls. It might allow us to find out if there is a definite correlation between Morgellons and this ancestry. Of course there are other factors which also predispose to skin cancer as well, such as trauma, environmental work conditions, history of severe skin burns, or immune system disorders or illnesses, among others. Therefore people of other genetic backgrounds could also get skin cancer as well as Morgellons. Still so far it appears skin cancer diseases are not as prevalent in those who do not have this Northern European genetic background.

| People of all ancestry can get cancer. Fair skinned people would get skin cancer if they over-expose themselves to too much sun, and dark-skinned as well, although fair-skinned people have less melanin for sun protection. We're told to glop on the sunscreen and of course, it contains chemicals which go into the blood-stream and also vitamin D is not produced from the sun at all. We're told to stay out of the sun. Cancer supposedly goes to the weakest area of the body. I believe the acid/alkaline principles are involved here. Cancer is so ubiquitous in society I don't believe there is anyone who doesn't either have it or know someone who has it. There is some connection with hormones as well, esp. in breast cancer...how hormones may predispose the body to allow it in. . People get colon cancer if their colon becomes clogged up with crap (no pun intended) and it can no longer cleanse itself. Disease sets in. Cancer results. People chew tobacco. They get cancer inside the mouth. But back to the skin cancer, I don't buy that it's genetic as an underlying predisposition. Just my opinion, and everyone has one. Same with Morgellons. We don't know until we know. |

Can you share with us your protocol, especially which Western medicines you have used? |
| |||
| Hi, Violet, I have shared the Western medications I use here before, but I know this sort of thing is easy to miss so I will repeat here. For the viral infections, which my doctor called reactivated infections from eating fish which contained something like cigueterra poison (we cannot be sure as I saw him a few years past the initial infection), I use acyclovir at half the dose originally prescribed for me. Otherwise I get heartburn. I have done this for thirteen months now (with the doctor guessing it may take two years of steady use--all I can say is I hope I can keep my stomach going that long by using herbs to overcome some of the medication's side effects). BTW, I would be tested first to see if viral infections are problem, as the drugs used are so strong and taking them unnecessarily would not be a choice I would make as you can see. I will be upfront here and say that without also using herbs I don't think the medicine would be enough for me, mainly because I have fluid buildup between the muscle and skin if I just use the Western medication. I would have it whether I use the medication or not. This has always been a problem since puberty and probably ties into my hypothyroidism. Since I do change what I take as far as herbs and since not every formula will suit every person anyway I have not posted these. Sometimes I use some gall bladder formulas from TCM. I also have one which pushes heat down from the head (heat tends to rise in the body as one ages and the kidneys can no longer keep it anchored properly in the body--I do think this has helped me from having terrible head symptoms). I have been known once to use the Dr. Natura system for cleansing (in the spring a couple years back). I have used the Raintree Nutrition herbs for fungus, cancer, and viral infections (not all at once and I think I posted that protocol in the past too). Quite often I use some TCM herbs to force out flu symptoms from the interior. I do this if I get chills. I have used several TCM formulas for worms, only one of which I know by name and named earlier in this thread. One was formulated for me by the TCM master in my area who ordered special herbs, so I do not know what that one was or what herbs he chose. As I say I am always switching things around to follow symptoms and time of the year as I learned by studying TCM informally at the acupuncture school. If interested you can find some of my old posts about some of what I have learned. The other medication I use sometimes is Ivermectin. I do think that this helped too, as the herbal wormers (Old Amish Dewormer is one and I have posted this before as well) did not get rid of all symptoms in this area. I still use Ivermectin from time to time, less often than when I first started using it (my doctor let's me judge when to use them). I feel that perhaps the chemical wormers we use are not as effective as they once were against whatever parasite this might be, as they are used to treat parasites in many animals, most likely building up a resistance to them with overuse everywhere. This medication has helped though. I took albendazole once for five days, but did not notice a lot of change from that one. I have also used far infrared sauna treatment followed by ozone, not so much lately as I get tired of sitting in the cabinet with nothing to do--mine has the head out so I cannot read. This is so ozone can be used afterwards, if desired. In all I am not fond of or a fan of medications, but sometimes I think, for some of us, perhaps it is a necessary evil. So far I am not sure there is a cure for us, but I think perhaps we can control most of our symptoms and that takes a good deal of trial and error. I cannot say that genetics does not play a part in skin cancer, because others wiser than I, who have done research have found that genetic component does play a part in some skin cancers and in these types of skin cancers (not the other types which I also mention in my last post and does encompass a larger group and other races) are found in Caucasions with very fair skin and a Northern European background and especially among those who have a Celtic background. This is not my research. As I said there is also some connection to celiac disease for some with Morgellons. Celiac disease has been tied to a predisposition to get colon cancer and have thyroid problems and other autoimmune conditions. Well, there are just a whole slew of autoimmune disorders which are tied together, quite loosely perhaps. IMHO I believe that this could be a big issue for many with Morgellons, one, too, which involves having the wrong amounts or not enough killer T cells. When this happens there is a lot of inflammation in the body and also the body cannot fight off illnesses as well as it should. It makes a lot of sense to me, especially since I have learned that a lot of my ancestors had dampness type diseases. These are people I have never met yet their death certificates show me that this was a big issue among those who were Celtic. Still I am not saying "Eureka" this is the answer, the holy Grail, as we are all waiting for research to come in which will explain it better than any of us can at the current time. Right all I can make, as do all of us, is an educated guess.

I was giving my OPINION based on reading reports and books written by MANY PEOPLE SMARTER THAN ME WITH DEGREES AND HONORS AND ALL OF THAT. In no way am I saying what cancer is or isn't other than what I have thus far concluded based on what research I have done. You can site degrees and honors until the cows come home and equally knowledgable people will also disagree. This NOT A freaking competition!!! I said what I thought. You know no better. END OF DISCUSSION!!! |

I would appreciate it if the other member (who remains indirectly addressed due to respecting her wish I would not address her) would extend the same courtesy of respect towards me. Another way to look at forums is as a debate where people express different viewpoints and the audience forms their own opinions from different ideas as presented by various members. Sometimes through cognizant dissonance people will come closer together in their opinions through these discussions. Still that does not always happen.
