Mel, as everyone who has Morgellons and has an internet connection, has tried just about everything that anyone has mentioned in the ether. The difference between Mel and the common man (and he hates me when I say this- but it is true) is that Mel is like Felix of the Odd Couple. He is so anal retentive it is almost irritating for a normal person to be around him. He is a very nice guy, but my frustration level goes up when I am around him because he is so nit picky. And because of his extreme anal retention, he went to the effort of itemizing each new thing he tried and cataloging the skin scrapings off his lesions with each new ingredient. He has tried just about everything out there- on several occasions, I have called him up and said "hey Mel, why don't you try this...." and he would and he would catalog his findings. So, in effect he was his own science experiment and he took great notes.
In all honesty, I have no idea how exactly he came up with his combination. He is not a really close friend, so I don't see him for periods up to 3-4 weeks at a time and after not keeping in touch with him for most of the summer, when the fall came around he called me and told me he thought he had beaten Morgellons since the lesions were on their way out.
I know for a fact that he has his own network of other Morgellons sufferers who he stayed in constant contact with, including Dr S. and Mary Leitao from the Morgellons Foundation. I believe at this time he has (to his knowledge) about 10 people trying his protocol. Maribeth Noxon who is a nurse practitioner is having positive results so far and she states that she is ecstatic that her symptoms are going away.
He had a consultation with his doctor recently and he has told me he will probably post on his website that although his website name states that he has cured himself, she has suggested that he take a longer timeframe and continue to do bloodwork to see if in fact he has truly beaten it- so he will make the note that currently he has had a complete remission of symptoms and his life is back to normal. But as I have read on this and other forums, no one for sure has beaten it, because it may come back after a long remission. |
