| thanks to Sadsack (the Sackster), I haven't stopped researching tonite. Also, Dr. Simoncini, the Oncologist from Italy implicates fungus in cancer, specifically candida. so then I'm searching IODINE, which the Sackster gave the link to and lo and behold, same guy is talking candida. What a co-incidence, I tell ya. Introduction to Candida | Candida Yeast Infections | Candida Overgrowth | Fungus Candida Albicans You really have to listen to what he says about Candida. so...candida, fungus, iodine, sodium bicarbonate, alkaline. and now.... I'm going to research (ugh) castor oil, since it's been also implicated twice today from major sources. Kritts |

| CASTOR OIL (ugh) First, let me tell you my experience with castor oil. I was a sugar freak as a kid and stopped my plumbing up continually every chance I got. The one saving grace is that I was physically extremely active and loved fresh fruit. But.....when I got sick, my great Aunt Kay (I've told you about her) would give me either castor oil or an enema (ouch) neither was fun. Castor oil grossed me out more than you can imagine. However. Now, check this out from the Cancer Society.... (money sucking personal gratification organization) ACS :: Castor Oil let me save you some time. “Available scientific evidence does not support claims that castor oil, applied to the skin, cures cancer or any other disease. Taken by mouth, it does help constipation. “ but....it does help constipation. that says it all. google for more info. xoxo Kritts |

| Hi Terri, Not sure how iodine is used by Dr. Simoncini in his cancer protocol, but I think that your endo is concerned about how taking iodine could effect you as a thyroid patient. You have said you are hyperthyroid and so the following may interest you: Iodine and the Thyroid "What About Iodine Supplementation? The relationship between iodine and the thyroid is complicated. Some alternative practitioners simplistically declare that all thyroid patients should take iodine -- or an iodine-containing herb like kelp. That practice can be problematic for many people, because many cases of autoimmune thyroid disease -- which is by far the most common cause of thyroid conditions in the U.S. -- are not due to iodine deficiency. The likelihood that your thyroid problem is caused by iodine deficiency is a factor of your geographic location, diet, and use of salt and iodized products, but the odds are, you are not iodine deficient. Your physician or nutritionist can test your iodine levels via a urinalysis test, if you wish to be evaluated. If, like many patients, you decide on your own to try kelp, iodine, or one of the many thyroid-supporting supplements (almost all of them contain high amounts of iodine or kelp), to see if they can help you, be aware of the risks. A percentage of patients are very sensitive to iodine/kelp supplementation, and find that it aggravates their thyroid problem. Personally, I'm one of those people who simply does not do well with much in the way of supplemental iodine. I do fine with food that contain iodine -- such as seaweed or seafood. In fact, I periodically find myself craving sushi and a good seaweed salad, and can eat it with no after-effects whatsoever. But the several times I have tried iodine or kelp supplementation in any form -- beyond the very small amounts of iodine contained in some supplements -- I have had what I call an "iodine crash." Within a day, I noticed my thyroid enlarging slightly (goiter), and feeling tender. Within three days, I became exhausted and achy all over my body. Most of the thyroid support supplements have high amounts of iodine, or kelp, claiming that these are essential nutrients for the thyroid. Be careful -- they may be a help to you, but like me, you may also be sensitive to supplemental iodine in pill form, and find yourself having an iodine crash. Some people are so sensitive to iodine that they really shouldn't even take the small amount of iodine you would find in most multivitamins. For that group, there are several supplements that contain no iodine (they also happen to contain no iron as well, which means they can safely be taken at the same time as your thyroid medications.) (Note: if you are taking iron supplements, you need to take them at least 3 to 4 hours apart from your thyroid medication.)" Source: Laurberg P, et. al. "Environmental iodine intake affects the type of nonmalignant thyroid disease," Thyroid. 2001 May;11(5):457-69 This is just the last part of the article from the above link.

| Hi Terri By 'Endoc' do you mean your Endocrinologist? I'm curious why he/she would say you're not supposed to have iodine. If you do a search from home page and put in 'iodine' you'll see how it is necessary and a deficiency can have serious consequences. I'm working on the summation, Terri, at least for myself since I doubt we all have the same thing, but I think there are certain key similarities with all of us. I think Sadsack summed it up really well in that it's a soup of things. This is why I have been asking for a poll extension to this forum to see what similarities we all have so at least we can isolate and identify some common denominators. Everyone here is doing such a tremendous job of researching and bringing information to our members to absorb and hopefully ring a bell. I believe personally that without any doubt fungi is implicated in my 'situation' I believe that candida is at least one type involved. However, from what I read, either candida changes from symbiotic to pathogenic because of an imbalance of body flora (good bacteria) and takes off on your system, or the presence of actual parasites like the Lyme spirochete, for instance, actually can destroy flora and create the balance that way. Then all kinds of organisms can join the party. I think we have the presence of mycoplasma in our systems which when triggered by some trauma (which is what Godsgrace was trying to explain )becomes a mutation and pathogenic as well. I think that bio-engineered crops are introducing foreign and dangerous recombinant genetic pathogens into our bodies. These things can trigger flora imbalance and IMO the pH balance which is key to all disease in the body. I also want to add that deficiencies of necessary nutrients in our systems, for whatever reason (even if you injest these nutrients, the body may not absorb them for several different reasons, such as allergies) create a host center for parasites, IMO. So, these are my thoughts. There are many others here who have their own, and we are all part of a great team with the purpose of finding answers to help each other. love Kritts Last edited by Kritters; November 5th, 2008 at 07:23 PM. |
