Default Myers Briggs Temperament Types & Communication

It occurs to me that some (not all) of the problems between members here may have a lot to do with temperament types. Different types communicate differently, sometimes radically. It can get in the way of good communication and can even piss people off royally. There are psychological tests that used to be used a lot in corporate American to determine what kind of manager a person would be, including their natural communication style. One of the best known was the Myers-Briggs.

So, I was just wondering whether anyone here has ever taken the Myers- Briggs and if you're willing to share the results?

I'm an INTJ.

DETERMINED by WHOM???? Thats what you would have to ask yourself on that..

These so called "tests" rely on parameters,,,,,NOT human socialability,,feelings,,interactability,,ect. ect.

We are NOT robots!!!

At least I am not.....

Actually, the Myers Briggs focused on those very things. It doesn't attempt to determine whether you'd be a good manager but to uncover your natural patterns of relating to others and to goals. It wasn't designed specifically for business but was used a lot in business.

We're about 2% of the population; a real minority!

That fact used to be a great source of humor in my family. My mother derived such great pleasure in reminding me I was an "alien". Giggled about it many times.

I think the first time I took the Meyers-Briggs I was still in my teens. They say the MB doesn't change as the person ages. I have been subjected to it a few times. There is also another one similar, I believe it is the Kersey scale or something like that. I had the same result.

It was fun to do, and fun to go through all the ribbing by those whom loved me.

It may not change as you age - unless a traumatic situation chages you fundamentally. However, it can and does change in different situations, for instance if your work self is different from your private self. I did test differently, once. The first time I took the test, I was 30-something and MADLY in love. INTJ's aren't comfortable with strong emotions so they overwhelm us. When I'm in love, I'm a whole 'nuther person all the way around. It was the first time I took the test and I tested as, of all things, an INFP. But I've tested, and have given the test, many times since, and it's always been INTJ.

The problem with being an INTJ woman is that so few INTJ's are female. It's a very masculine way of communicating, emphatic, a lot of foregone conclusions, and we talk to everyone that way whether they're capable of understanding what we're saying or not. People get the wrong ideas about us altogether. We're not real good at expressing our inner selves, people assume we're very strong and have everything together all the time. NOT!

The Keirsey scale is related to the Myers-Briggs. There were two popular books on the MB, Please Understand Me and Please Understand Me II. The first was good, the second was verbose, convoluted and hard to read. (Obviously written by an INTJ...) anyway, the first was written by David Keirsey and Marilyn Bates. Not sure about the second.

Again, another source of the ribbing from my family...hahahaha

We all have the ability to be a hot mess some days!! <snicker> Some more than others. Morgellons doesn't help anyone.
