I don't know if it new but Kritters and TCM know a bit about Herpes.
I bet they have been messing with this as well.

Human herpesvirus 6 culprit in neurologic diseases

The recently discovered human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) appears to be both a passenger and a pathogen. This often silent virus which belongs to the Betaherpesvirinae subfamily and infects human indiscriminately, has now been shown to be active cause of some neurologic disease in children and possibly in adults, experts said at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
A survey conducted in the British Isles from October 1998 through September 2001 showed that 8% of patients (13 of 156) under the age of 2 years with encephalitis who had fever and convulsions had primary HHV-6 infection. However, much remains unknown about the actual mechanism by which the virus causes disease.
Investigators are now looking into the pathogenicity of this virus in older children and in adults. Some of the data presented at the meeting also suggest that this virus is unique among the human herpesviruses, because in some individuals HHV-6 becomes incorporated into the human chromosomes.
They think that about 1% of people are born with this virus. If a person has this virus integrated into their chromosomes, it is in their germ line. So, they have inherited it from either their mother of their father. Since the virus is in chromosomes and is therefore in every cell in the body, such people are absolutely full of vial DNA. It is even in their hair follicles, a consultant virologist at the Royal Free & University College Medical School, London said.
Just because the virus is in the chromosomes doesn’t mean that it is multiplying or that it is an active infection. This is something that is entirely new in terms of herpes viruses and does not jive with how herpes viruses have been viewed.
Right now, the whole field is open. There is so much they still don’t know. It has long been known that primary HHV-6 infection in young children causes exanthema subitum, a rash illness with high fever, but the severe neurologic disease is new and surprising. It is unknown how this virus affects normal adults. However, it always remains as a passenger in the body and in immunocompromised adults — that is, stem-cell transplant and solid organ recipients — it causes encephalitis. It is fatal in bone marrow transplant patients; 40% of those who become sick with this virus will die.
The take-home message for primary care physicians is that in some children, HHV-6 may cause a severe neurologic illness with prolonged seizures requiring supportive therapy, including ventilation and sedation. Furthermore, in the 1% of individuals where the virus is integrated into chromosomes, high levels of viral DNA will be found in blood and in cerebrospinal fluid, which may confuse the diagnosis with a variety of conditions.

Wow Carls,
Since I first came on board here 2 years ago, I felt herpes could be implicated. Then I thought, well... everyone has herpes, so that's just a co-incidence. Interesting, isn't it...they can't CURE herpes...but they can sure find drugs to keep it at bay, and now they'll have a vaccine for it. Gosh...there are no limits to what income big pharma and the medical profession can make from something they just can't, for the life of them figure out how to freking cure. That has ALWAYS bewildered me UNTIL I CAME TO LEARN OF THE NATURE OF THE GREEDY AND DECEPTIVE BEAST.

If anyone wants to read my posts on herpes, just do a search. There are dozens.

Damn... it sure is tough to always be right.

Kat,
thanks for the cheers, but here come the jeers......I was just being a smart azz (I know, I know...something new for me )...I seriously wouldn't doubt herpes does have some connection though and wow, it surely does remain to be seen... But with our Morgie sleuths on the case....we will probably find out.

I could be wrong, BUT, as far and fast as technology has taken us (which I think is too fast) , personally I find it hard to believe a cure can't be found for a lot of illnesses. Big Pharma would go broke. They'd be the next in line for a bailout.

When ephedra was causing young people to die from heart failure it gets pulled from the market, there's the Meth problem with it also. But why would it be of concern if people make their own choices and if they die from them? Saves on Social Security but other than that thee's no money in it. Then the oil used in restaurants is to be regulated along with other things.

Cigarettes and tobacco of any kind, which is a HUGE KILLER are plentiful and darn expensive being taxed up the wazoo. Money, money, money.

Alcohol and tobacco are the 2 most addicting drugs and are legal.

I am sad and sorry to say that I am a smoker. I wish they'd be pulled from the market. I am finding it extremely hard to quit, especially now with this extra big stressor, and yet it complicates the issue at hand. But I'm thinking there will never be a cure for this awful, hideous, and filthy disease I have right now, so why should I want to live longer with strings crawling out of my nose, mouth, ears, face, head, butt, entire body.

I pray and hope God will forgive me for even having that thought in my mind, because life is a precious gift from Him. I still work at quitting. I am a Christian and I keep telling myself these fibers are in my body but don't have my soul. Jesus Christ has my soul and the Devil can suck butt if he thinks I am going to leave Christ because of this. I try to fast forward my thoughts to life with Christ.
