Default New Book About Morgellons -Awareness

I love this Womans Story. You can see by her Photo on the link that shes genuine. Her skin has that unmistakeable mottled look .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Carrie Bertrand, who runs the Believers Business Center in Kalamazoo’s Edison neighborhood, has written a book about overcoming a mysterious illness with what she believes was God’s help.

She is planning a book signing and open house for Nov. 13 at the center, located at 1301 Cameron St. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m., with talks by Bertrand at 2:30 and 4 p.m.

Bertrand’s self-published book, “Awareness,” is about how “God ... saved her (from her illness) with the help of natural health solutions,” according to an e-mail she sent to the Gazette. She concluded that she was suffering from the mysterious Morgellons disease, whose sufferers typically report skin lesions; sensations of crawling, stinging or biting movement on or under the skin; and filaments or fibers seeping from the skin.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began a study of Morgellons in 2008. CDC experts are now working on a final draft of their study report and are expected to submit it for publication in early 2011, according to an Oct. 31 report by the Washington Post.

The CDC is not saying at this point whether the disease is real or a delusion, wrote Post reporter Brigid Schulte.

“A few years ago, a handful of scientists thought the so-called fiber disease could be the result of infection by some strange new bacterium, parasite or fungus,” wrote Schulte. “Almost all of them have dropped their research.”

Ahmed Kilani, an infectious-disease microbiologist, told Schulte, “I believe the disease is real. But there are lots of crazy people involved. So I distanced myself.”

The only remaining researcher, Randy Wymore, a pharmacology professor at Oklahoma State University, has been doing DNA testing of the fibers that patients claimed were seeping from their bodies and has ruled out unusual bacteria, fungi or insects, according to Schulte.

“We have a better idea of what the fibers aren’t,” Wymore told Schulte. “But we’re no closer to figuring out what they are.”

In an interview last year when she was starting her business center, Bertrand said she had Morgellons symptoms in the 1980s.

“I have pictures of the parasite,” she said, and “legal documents proving there was something there.”

Doctors, however, called her problem “delusional parasites,” she said.

She overcame the problem through body detoxification, she said.

“Life was pulled out from under me because of this health issue, but I found God,” Bertrand said. “I was able to utilize that experience to rebuild my life.”

Bertrand said that a man who received her book late last year called her crying.

“He took the book to the doctor, and now he’s out of the hospital,” she said in December. “They didn’t even know if he was going to make it. The man said the book gave him hope.”

no offense carla, but you started by saying 'you can tell shes real', in my opinion, aint nobody real until i meet them face to face..ya know?
please dont get mad at me now, im just trying to say that blind faith/taking peoples word when you havent met them is a bad idea, theres an old saying,
'belive half of what you see and none of what you hear'..
but do me a favor, keep track of how her book does, if it does real well, i may write one myself..lol.

No offence taken Jane .I know what your saying but I meant that her skin looks like she has suffered with Morgellons .It s hard to get that effect with make up.

carla, yeah, that could be true.. hehe, do you have her pic? just curious, ill bet shes got a ton of other junk tho, too..

that one guy from your above thing said something cracked me up, 'he thinks morgs is real but there are a bunch of crazy people attached so i distanced myself' HAHA, what a dork..yeah, if he had this, he'd be as crazy as the rest of us! but ill bet you he'd bee looking for a cure then wouldnt he?

dzana, belive me i live only a few hours from hollywood, ive worked on movie sets as security, youd be amazed what they can do with make up, i know, ive seen it. they can make a latex mold of your face to look as hideous as you want, that way, just slip it on over your face like a mask and instant ugly!!

I would have to see the book itself to see if it is a made up story(MUST be very heartwrenching) w/random pictures from the internet,,,or ACTUAL pictures of HER illness....,,and her story...

You gotta doubt everything now-a-days

There are enough stories on the net for,,,,lets say,,,,,lupus,,,or bone marrow disease....
You grab some photos from the net,,,,scan photos from books at your library,,,,,and write a heartfelt story of survival,,,making sure you mention how god ,,gravity,,and the recent ball game score,,,ALL help you to "get better",,and you got a best seller.......
Just saying how it can,,,and HAS been done...
And you must mention that if you dont buy,,and believe the book,,,,you are un-american,,,or something to that effect....too..

I would hate to have to pick this apart too,,as we did over at the lets roll forum,,,regarding Lisa beamers book.....

Default either way...

I agree with Carla... she looks to have the real scars.
I think that either way though... A Best Seller would mean a lot of public awareness and maybe along with book signings there may be television and radio interviews. That could be the media exposure this disease needs to gather real funding for research. The detox that she mentions also seems to be a very valid means of dealing with this.

if she turns out to be a fake, well, then after the media attention (or during) we can pick her apart.
