Astonishing Scientific Findings/New Electron Microscopy Analyses on Morgellon's Disease to be Presented in Austin, Texas March 29, 2008
For the first time, independent researchers and scientists are gathering from across the country to support the Morgellons community.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) March 26, 2008 -- The New Morgellons Order (NMO), also know as The Charles E. Holman Foundation, is holding its First Annual Scientific/Medical Conference on Morgellons in Austin, Texas, on March 29, 2008 from 8:00 am to 5:00pm. The day long event will be held at Westoak Woods Baptist Church, Main Auditorium, 2900 Slaughter Lane, Austin, Texas. Morgellons is an unexplained illness which is characterized by unusual fibers, fatigue, sores that are difficult to heal, and neurological problems as well as numerous other symptoms. It is currently under investigation by the CDC as an emerging illness.

Cindy Casey, RN and Director of the Charles E. Holman Foundation, reports that "We are very excited about this event, as many of the scientists and medical speakers will be meeting each other for the first time. Our hope is that this event will encourage more collaboration between professionals to speed up the search for the cause and treatment of this terrible affliction. Public awareness is another critical goal."

The Conference, titled "Searching for the Uncommon Thread," is geared towards medical professionals and scientists; however, many Morgellon's patients, families and supporters are also attending. Randy S. Wymore, Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University will be providing an update on his university research. Raphael B. Sticker, MD from CA will be discussing controversies in newly emerging diseases. "Dermatology: how it is taught and practiced" will be presented by Elizabeth Rasmussen, Ph.D., WY. Harriet Bishop, President, TXLDA, will be discussing staying positive to cope with Morgellons. The clinical aspects of Morgellons will be presented by Ginger Savely, FNP-C, CA. David Gibbs, MS, CDRP, TX will explain social security benefits as related to Morgellon's Disease. Gregory Smith, MD, FAAP, GA, will discuss why Morgellons is more than a skin disease. An open question and answer period will follow the presentations.

Mark Darrah, Morgellon's Research Director from Stony Brook University, will be providing an update on his research using SEM, FTIR and Raman Microspectroscopy. His presentation will include his observations regarding "Structural and molecular characteristics of Morgellon filaments and particles by optical and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Raman Microspectroscopy. Are secretions the real culprit?" Mark works directly with Dr. Vitale Citovsky who reported finding Agrobacterium in a small sampling of Morgellon's patients.

Special guest, Lee Mounger, a Texas Musician, will be providing a tribute to Charles E. Holman midday.
