| Well I am one of the lucky ones to have Babesiosis too, so why I am posting this thread, and it often coexists with Lyme disease:Introduction Babesiosis is transmitted to mammals through tick bites. It has recently received a lot of attention because it is frequently associated with Lyme disease. Ticks can carry both babesiosis and Lyme disease. Throughout history, cattle fever epidemics have been attributed to babesiosis. Babesiosis can affect other mammals, as well. According to Auerbach, the first human diagnosis was made in 1957 in Yugoslavia. Since 1970, there have been many reported cases in the northeastern part of the country, specifically Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. There have also been a few cases in Wisconsin and Minnesota. We do know that the major vector is the white-footed mouse, which is also responsible for Lyme disease. The tick feeds off of the mouse, ingesting the parasite. These replicate within the tick, and then are passed on to the mammal the tick bites. Babesiosis Symptoms Research has show that there are risk factors for contracting a severe form of babesiosis, which include advanced age, the absence of a spleen, and generalized immunodeficiency. The affected individual may be asymptomatic for months and even years before presenting with classic symptoms. Generally, however, the incubation period is one to two weeks after being bitten. Symptoms are varied and can include nausea, vomiting, headache, muscle aches, abdominal pain, dark urine and temperatures around 100-102 degrees Fahrenheit. One should always consider a coexisting of Lyme disease, specifically if there is a rash resembling erythma migrans. The most common symptoms are weakness, fatigue and fever, as well as chills and nausea. Babesiosis Treatment Antibiotics are very effective, including Clindamycin, Zithromax, and Quinine being a good alternative. | Well I will warn you, this link is LONG> However it DOES contain much pertinent information. Babesiosis CAN BE FATAL< LIKE ALOHA SAID> However, this site conveintly seperates different topics (so a bit easier on the eyes) So please read the sections you would like to know about. Here is the link: http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic19...~miscellaneous . (LC). |

LC, I'm not certain why is this thread seperate from What do you do to ease panic attacks. Seems like some of this info would benefit that thread, albeit I have a hard time reading information that requires a lot of scrolling. Maybe others do as well. Perhaps a summary of this information? And how about the source? This is another thing that would help research. ![]() BB

Emedicine is the source. sorry about the length of the information. the reason why in a serate thread, is because some members have babeosis, or babeosis and lyme. (there are members without morgellons disease who are members . So i apologize bad_boy some of the information in the lengthly post might be important for somebody. I thought it too long for alohas thread anyway. I promise, I will not do posts like these very often. :P would it be helpful if i broke it into smaller posts in pieces in this thread? thanks, (LC)

Wow. That's great about helpful folks! This is a great place to find help for friends and family members too, I guess. Heck, Franky's the best one of them all! Truth be told, we need all the people we can in our corner! How about posting links with perhaps a brief summary, instead? The summary should be enough to see why you are posting the link. Most "Newbies" aren't "Newbies" to forums. Some even lurked here before joining. To post an entire article assumes they can't help themselves. Honestly, most folks will let you know if they have any trouble (just look at some prior threads--we're a helpful bunch). ![]() BB

Well not saying they cannot help themselves frankly was a matter of knowing WHICH part is useful to somebody. Yes you are very helpful Bad_Boy. I will not try to do ones as long as these in the future or just do a link. Okay? (LC).

I would think summaries are ok. It's a brief intro letting people know why your are posting (and with what thought it might be connected...like "this is in sync with my theory about yada yada"). Makes you sound like a real academian .![]() BB

Here are some case studies of those with Babeoisis and other co infections of Lyme. These are important because my belief is Babesoiosis has Serious effects, can be a FATAL infection and i believe that it can Magnify negative moodswings for Morgellons and Lyme disease. It has also been linked to heart attacks, panic attacks and episodes of uncontrollable rage. I also believe that the sickest of us have this co-infection I know I do. mine is well controlled, but still a very REAL problem for most of us. Here are the case studies if it interests you : http://www.ilads.org/sherr4.html . (LC)
