| Here is just a example of increased Lyme disease here in the states. In 2006, there were 1,456 cases of Lyme disease in Wisconsin residents - most cases occurred in the western and north-central parts of the state. In 2005, there were 1,441 cases. Tips for Wisconsin residents: # Avoid wooded and bushy areas with high grass and lots of leaf litter since ticks prefer these areas. # Use effective tick repellents and apply according to the label instructions. # Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. # Frequently check for ticks and remove them promptly. # Protect your pets from tick bites by checking your dog or cat for ticks before bringing them inside. # Speak to your veterinarian about topical tick repellent available for pets. |
