Red face sick-n-tired of being sick-n-tired

Hi I'm new to this forum. I have had the symptoms of Morgellons for the past 7 months. I was doing some research on the internet about the possible link of Morgellons to Siloxane. Any thoughts or known facts out there, Please.
I work in an industry that uses this chemical and I am in daily contact with it. I just need to either put these crazy thoughts to rest OR run scared. Thanks

Hi there LM22 and welcome!!!

I do not know about ther connection of Siloxane w M, but I do try to avoid exposures to anything toxic as much as possible. I'm not saying to quit your job necessarily; just to do anything possible to minimize exposure.

I am exposed to toxins every day. For some reason some days the pollution here really bothers me - mainly when I am driving or pumping gas. If I could I would avoid it all the time, but since I can't stop breathing, lol, all I can do is try to minimize it.

DETOX, DETOX, DETOX.

We are exposed to huge amounts of toxins on a daily basis just living life, but you are at a disadvantage as you are exposed even more due to your job. If our body is not operating effectively due to diet, nutrient deficiencies, stress, etc, then our body would not be as efficient at detoxing compared to other people.

Detoxing should be high on the priority list for you. I would not waste my time looking at the connection between that specific chemical and M... anything toxic has a connection, if you know what I mean.

I believe fracty was the one who recommended Brenda Watson's books, one I read was "The Detox Strategy - Vibrant Health in 5 Easy Steps"... not that it's easy for us, by no means .. but it is a good book aimed at describing how to minimize toxic exposures and how to do cleanses for detoxifying.
For me, personally, my doc has giving me lots of detox formulas as supplements, and I use the Far Infrared Sauna weekly. I also do ionic footbaths on a regular basis. I also do detox baths.

Please look into it. It would be very important for you, I think.

Default Siloxane

I don't think you're nuts at all. You should run scared from this stuff. Researchers have found that the stuff in M are organic and inorganic and the fibers are sometimes silicone. Depends on the researcher. Why would any company make something so toxic and put it in our food or cosmetics? That may explain why more women seem to have this. Monsanto chemical made these things. That would stand to reason. You're not crazy, dear, you are discerning.

Here's an interesting article about the liver and how it works to detoxify the body. It also has explanations about why some people have a harder time detoxifying and discusses ways to help the body increase detoxification (foods, supplements):

Default Get tested

Hi LM and welcome.

I would find out if there are any ways to test for Siloxane. Testing might relieve your worry or really scare you, depending on the results.

The only industrial toxicologist I know of is Dr. Hildegarde Staninger and I'm not sure if there is a specific test for that chemical alone. There may be other toxicologists that you can speak to, but I don't know of them.

I think detox is a good idea too.
Good luck.

TCM -
This is great information. Thanks for the link. This one paragraph hit home personally with me:

"An imbalance between phase I and phase II can also occur when a person is exposed to large amounts of toxins or exposed to toxins for a long period of time. In these situations, the critical nutrients needed for phase II detoxification are depleted, which allows the highly toxic activated intermediates to build up."

There are tests that can test how well your liver pathways are working.. and I found out that my phase I was detoxing too fast and my phase II pathway was detoxing too slowly. My doc is addressing this through vitamins, amino acids, and other supplements. I feel this is important to address as one step in getting well....

Thank you everyone for all your input on this matter. I am very disturbed by the manner in which my employer is so laxed in the handling of the bi-product that is generated from this chemical. I am very very concerned. Not only for myself, but for everyone involved. I honestly do not understand why the EPA does not put stricter regulations on the handling of the waste product. There has been absolutly ZERO inspections, governing the manifests or anything at all with this chemical. In 20 years or less they will come along and say OOPPPS, we made a mistake. It causes cancer, its not environmentally friendly, or worse yet, it causes Morgellons. I feel trapped. I live in a portion of the US that is very hard impacted by the recession. A new job is a far fetched dream at this time. I need to support myself and my family. I am very confused. I am definately going to start a detox regimen. Thanks.

LM -

How are you protecting yourself with the handling of this product? Do you use any mask or gloves? How do you prevent it from getting on your clothing? If people ask, you can just say you are chemically sensitive.... You should focus on minimizing exposure to this chemical while you try to get well... Do what you can given that another job is not an option...
